Some of you may've seen a couple of these prologue pages floating around the interwebs (or in a limited print run I sold at Denver Comic Con a few years ago).
However, many of these pages have received an artistic facelift and some text changes from back then--so I hope it still feels somewhat fresh to the few of you who may already be familiar. :)
Destiny or free will?
Empathy or self-preservation?
Redemption or retribution?
"Drift" attempts to look at the ways we humans navigate and process our experiences--all while running it through the filter of the animal world.
Telling this story with animals removes the visual cues of class, affiliation, ethnicity, economic status, nationality, etc. My hope is that this forces the reader to release personal bias and simply meet each character within their own context and hear what they have to say without preconceived notions.
But, let's be real--it's also just a good old fashioned animal adventure story.

TL;DR:
"Drift" is half exploratory mental exercise and half excuse to draw lots of fun African animals while I learn how to make a graphic novel. :)
Join me for the ride! Let's see where this goes.
