V.J.'s POV
Hey. My name is Viktor Taylor Xavier Williams Jr. But, most people call me V.J. I am 34 years old, married, and work from home, sorta. My wife is a lovely woman named Sarah Scarlett Williams, and we have three children. I woke up this morning, took a shower, and looked at my computer to see an article about the #1 company's head revealing themselves next year. I wonder what people will think of them. Or even what the rest of the Tenshi Star members will say. Anyway, I have to wake up the kiddos. I look over and see Sarah stretching as she rolls out of bed.
"Good morning, sunshine!" I joke.
"Mornin', Sloppy Joe." She says back.
I feign hurt. "Ouch. How could you hurt me like that."
She grins widely at me. "Imagine how I feel being called 'sunshine' when ya know I'm not a morning person."
I eye her up and down. She is always a smart-alec when she wakes up. "Touche." I watch her mosey down the hallway to wake up the kids on her way to the bathroom.
An hour later, I walked down the stairs toward the kitchen to eat, only for my eldest son to float down the stairs and say goodbye as he grabbed a blueberry muffin off of the table. I look at him in surprise, only for Sarah to clear her throat and whisper, "We will talk about that later." I sigh and see him walk out the door. "Goodbye, son! And thank you!" I call after him. I see him wave and run towards the front of the driveway. I sigh as I pray that he gets to school safely.
"Daddy! We are ready to go!"
I look over and smile at my son and daughter, who start kindergarten today. Jerzi and Jeremy look up at me with wide eyes as I reach in my shirt pocket. I pull out two candy bars and give each of them one. I whisper to them not to tell their mother, who already knows anyway, and both nod their heads vigorously. We head to the door, and I kiss Sarah goodbye and grab my coffee off the table.
We get into the car and drive toward the All Versions Elementary School, where Jerzi and Jeremy are starting. When we get there, they nearly break my doors. "This car ain't cheap. So if you break my handles, I'm either gonna break your banks or your behinds." I see two very concerned children nod their heads as I unlock my doors. They step out onto the pavement, look at each other, and sprint toward the school.
A tall redhead, who looked in his late twenties, and had curly hair with glasses, emerged from the front of the building and smiled softly. "Greetings, and welcome to AVES. My name is Chris Todd. I am the kindergarten teacher here. At AVES, we strive to educate our young scholars with the proper knowledge to survive and thrive in this ever-changing world." He extends his hand, and I shake it promptly.
"I'm Viktor Williams Jr., Jerzi and Jeremy's father. It is nice to meet you, Mr. Todd. I have a few questions for ya. What time do the children leave, and what are their classes?"
"Well, as you already know, school starts at 9 and ends at 2:45. Classes are as follows; Math, English, Science, Power Control, History, and Art. Lunch is provided for all students, but home lunches are welcomed."
An hour and thirty minutes later, after I dropped the children off and get back home, I get a call from an unidentified number. I call Sarah into the living room and open the video chat. She sits down and hands me a glass of water.
"Hello, Viktor. And greetings to your beautiful wife as well."
"Hi, Dad. It's nice to see you again. What are you calling for? Aren't you busy? And where is Mom?"
"Slow your roll, Vicky boy. Let's go with one question at a time."
My dad moves the camera over, and I see my mom grinning from ear to ear. I groan as my mom calls me by my childhood nickname. I can feel my wife vibrating next to me as she tries but fails to hold in her laughter. I notice my face feels warm, so I know that if I don't look like a tomato, then it won't be long before I do.
"You look like a flippin' tomato," Mom says.
"Yeah yeah. Thanks, mom." I retort.
"It's nice to see ya again, Sarah."
"Likewise," Sarah says
"Whatever. Good to know that everyone remembers other people and their embarrassing nicknames. That doesn't tell me why you are calling."
My dad gets solemn and then speaks. "Vik, this is a very, very important matter. I need a successor by next month. Jerzi and Jeremy are too young. The boy would be perfect, but he still has yet to unlock his true potential." He takes a moment to think, then clears his throat. I see my mom put her hand on his arm. "So until he matures mentally and gains the ability to control him, you are in charge of the company. You will be able to manage it from home, but occasionally I will have to send you on business trips so that we can continue peacefully with our allies. If there is any progress with him, let me know."
I nod, but then I recall the events of the morning. "Well, actually." I look at Sarah, who nods in approval. I continue my sentence. "He floated down the stairs."
Dad raises a brow. "Figuratively?"
"No, sir." I shake my head. "Literally."
"How old is he?"
"16 years old."
"You do know what this means, right?" He is on a video call, but the way he looks like he is peering through my soul makes it feel like he is right here with us.
Sarah sighs and nods her head. "We have to talk. About everything."
