"I would say it's more modern if that makes sense" I replied.
"More modern you say, what does that mean exactly," asked Felix as all I did was cause more confusion. I would try to change subjects as there was just no simple way to explain the world where I come from. Sure in a way they are very similar however this world there just seems to be too old-fashioned and weird, not to mention giant catfish the size of whales! I close my eyes and sigh once more and begin to look off into the distance upon all the lush green lands. This place did have this kind of peaceful atmosphere to it despite what I may have heard about the capital and all, I'm just glad I haven't come in contact with any of them and I hope to never plan to. Traveling along the roads we came across people going about their way on long walks, people planting and others riding their horses as well. You would begin to think that everything would be fine sadly we couldn't be more wrong...
A few miles away into the distance a nearby village would be attacked by soldiers from the Jarel Kingdom. Evicting its residence with intimidating force as they carried their swords dressed in armor.
"Move it you piece of piece of filth" you could hear the soldiers shouting over and over as they began gathering the residence into the center of the village. Once all of them were gathered they began to burn the village, as steel wagons would arrive to imprison the villagers ago side their general riding her armor-plated horse. Seeing the village ablaze brought a smile to her face as she watched the prisoners look horrified by the sight as they are loaded onto the wagon. The Villagers would quickly notice that someone else was imprisoned onboard their wagon someone tied locked inside of a wooden box with no way for it to be opened.
"That's right you best obey or you'll end you like that prisoner there, as we slaughter their entire village" she explained as she grins towards the box with evil intentions. Little did they know the person imprisoned inside of that box was also staring back towards their cruel and heartless general.
As we arrived at the border between the Jarel kingdom and the Alfor kingdom, Felix would park the carriage along the side of the hill to await the arriving party. As we waited I couldn't help but get a strange smell tingling my nose.
"Hey, do you smell that?" I would ask Felix as we looked around the environment. Felix would begin to pick up on it as well but then again the smell of ashes is normal here as most don't cook the way they do in modern times. Felix and I waited till noon of that day I couldn't help but feel as if something was off, so I decided to ask Felix has he ever had this party cancel on him before doing trades. Felix would also begin to fear that something had indeed gone wrong with this deal so we would begin to re-board the carriage and begin to head back home to the village. As we turned around I could spot large black clouds that were northwest of our location but wouldn't pay any large attention to it because like what I said earlier someone could just be cooking a very large fest. As the evening skies began to come in and the sun began to set, the skies would fill with orange and red with yellowish clouds fading into the atmosphere. Riding back along the long dirt road something seem quite off as well as there weren't as nearly as many people out as it were before as if they had all taken shelter from something.
"Hey, Felix are you noticing something off here again" I would ask but telling from Felix's expression he began to pick up on that strange sensation as well. Out of nowhere, we began to see smoke coming from within the forest up ahead and sparks of flames coming from the forest up ahead where Fur-ru village was.
"FELIX!" I shout
"Oh no, we must hurry!!" shouts Felix as he put the carriage into overdrive commanding the horses to go faster. You could only imagine how my bottom felt feeling every bump along the road just twice as rough.
Screams are heard as the soldier began beating half of the villagers with their mighty weapons one after another.
"How dare you come to my village and attack my people, we have done nothing to offend you all" Shouts Xander as he charges towards the soldier's general as she sat bravely upon her horse watching the villagers try in vain to fight back. They would quickly tackle Xander to the ground to prevent him from approaching the general any further as he swung his hatchet around like a fool. The villagers already trapped inside of the wagons were helpless to help the struggling village being attacked just as they were a few hours ago. The soldiers began to grow very angry towards the village as they counted to try and fight back regardless, so instead of trying to evict them from their homes, they began to set them ablaze with them still inside. Leaving them no option but to either come out and be captured or be burned alive inside their wooden homes. Their screams of horror could be heard coming from miles away in the forest as if you were in a horror film.
"It was the spy wasn't it, the guy you sent here to set us up" called out Abbi as she exits her home to save her life. The female general would look towards Abbi in confusion as she knew nothing of a spy sent in for observation.
"A spy you say" questioned the General, as she flips her hair and crosses her arms upon her noble steed. However, Abbi refused to believe it as the stranger suddenly appeared out of nowhere dressed in strange clothing, unlike anything they had seen in their village.
"Silence!" shouts a Soldier before punching Abbi with great force in the gut sending her falling to her knees.
"DAMN YOU!!" shouts Xander as he breaks free from the soldier's grasp upon him and charges towards their general with his hatchet in his hand. As he got very close to her, sadly in a blink of an eye he would find himself impelled by the general's lance due to her quick speeds and swordsmanship. The villagers scream even louder as they are horrified to see Xander's body falling and collapsing to the ground lifeless. Felix and I would arrive just in time to witness it from the shadows, it was truly a terrible sight. Quickly spotting his wife Felix began to grow very angry toward them.
"Damn those Jarel knights" he would say softly as we hide behind a batch of bushes. Felix would slowly turn toward me and tell me that he needed me to do something for him as he loans me a hammer. Felix would want me to try and break the lock on the prisoner's wagon and help them escape with their lives from the knights.
"I can't Felix, I'm not fast enough or brave enough to do this" I try my best to explain. Felix wasn't sure what to say to me but the look of worry for his wife and his village was upon him Felix knew he couldn't just stand there and watch and do nothing.
" They have all be rounded up General" (Fellow Knight)
"Very good now kill them all, this village has now stained my lance with blood and is unfit to live" explains the General. Felix charges towards them revealing himself in the open to quickly draw away their attention as he runs towards his wounded wife.
What should I do? I would constantly keep questioning myself as my hand shakes uncontrollably with the hammer in my hand.
"I have to help them" I mumble but quickly shaking off that their lives had nothing to do with mine as I'm not even from this world. As I look back over from the bush I would see the soldiers have not caught Felix.
"Oh no," I say to myself.
Suddenly the general decides to get off of her noble stead as she has grown rather irritated with this entire situation.
"We from the Jarel Kingdome had been sent to retrieve what was due to us, and on our way back to return to the Kingdom. We come across your tiny village in seek of a warm meal and water and instead, you all refuse to serve us, your very own people!!" explains the General as she places her hands behind her back with the look of disgust upon her face.
"You are not our people the true leader of Jarel was never like this before you people are monsters!" shouts Felix towards the general before she slaps him a face full of steel. I felt my heart stop as I watched it, but Felix was right I had to help all who I could, there was no time to be a coward not when many people needed my help. Although I wasn't very fast I had to make the best of it, I quickly run began running towards the prisoner wagons as they grip the steel bars in fear.
"stand back I'm here to help get you out," I tell them as I try to begin to figure out how to pry a lock with a hammer as I've never done anything like this before. If I were to hit it multiple times the sound would quickly draw the soldiers so I had to be as very gentle as I could. Using all the force in my hand along with my body weight I pop the lock on the first lock gently opening the door.
"You're free now!" I tell them as they slowly began to make their exit out of the wagon and began to run for their lives away. As I watched them take off into the woods I turn and look towards the last remaining wagon.
"I can do this," I tell myself as I head over towards the last one. Arriving at the last lock I quickly begin going to work on it however this one was a bit tougher to pry as I couldn't the right angle on it for the hammer to get it.
"CLICK" the lock pops open and they push open the door and began running for their lives just as well.
"General!! look there they are escaping, the prisoners!" shouts a knight as he draws his weapon.
Their general was beyond furious at the situation as she spotted me on the back of the wagon. My heart began to race I quickly ran inside the wagon and locked the door and began to hide.
"How dare you free those savages who dare defy their rulers, for this betrayal you shall die by my hand in our of our ruler!" shouts the general as she began heading towards the wagon. I begin to scramble in the wagon suddenly backing up into a wooden box that had been chained down to the wagon. As I look back towards the General I spot her looking right directly at me sending all sorts of chills down my body as she draws her sword forth.
"I see you scum and pathetic piece of filth" she would say proudly with a very intimidating facial expression. She looked as if she were really going to enjoy killing me, no not like this I can't die like this. I still haven't lived yet, I never even go to tell Iris how I felt yet it can't end like this.
As I stood there trembling with the hammer in my hand I suddenly hear a groan behind me as the wooden box began to shake.
"There is something there, but what is it," I asked myself as I see the general arriving at the back of the wagon taking off the lock. I'm sure what it was but there was this odd feeling within me telling me that there was something in this box that was the answer. There was an unknown force being drawn to it so I wouldn't wait any longer and quickly began to pry open the box with the hammer.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, get away from that thing" shouted the general in a very worried tone in her voice as she rushed in to finish me off...
SLICE!!!
As I opened my eyes I felt something holding on to the back of my shirt as we fall from the skies back to the center of the village where the villagers had been gathered up. landing upon the ground I fall to my knees as I grasp for air before slowly looking over to my side to see something that even had the knights spooked. A woman stood before us with snow-white hair, crystal blue eyes, and razor-sharp claws, dressed in the clothing of a ninja. As we all look over towards the general as she begins to walk towards us, blood begins leaking from her neck as her head suddenly falls off alongside the steel bars of the prisoner's wagon. The knights would look at the woman in rage as she had now sliced off the head of their general right before their eyes. The woman would begin to look towards the midnight skies and yell as the full moon reveals its self from the clouds. As I trembled beside her I suddenly noticed to large ears of an animal upon her head. As she finished yelling she would begin to look around at the remaining soldiers ready to stand against her as they began to draw their weapons. Who, or what was this mysterious woman standing before us, I did not know but one thing is for sure she has just saved my life for the moment...
