we waltz along the path of love,
as the gentleness of the world blesses us
waltz
noun /wôlts/
a dance in triple time performed by a couple, who as a pair turn rhythmically around and around as they progress around the dance floor
Dancing was never my forte, but that did not mean I was not able to enjoy awkward moves and steps. As expected, Vega was just as inexperienced. Well, technically, she had less experience than me, but we were as bad as each other.
I stepped on her, and then muttered ‘sorry.’ She answered with a soft ‘no problem’ and then she stepped on my foot, causing her to return the small ‘sorry’ to me. Our shoulders bumped on each other, and our footing slipped a few times. My hand lost its grip and we panicked to catch our hands together.
It was funny, really. We were just two clumsy women, trying to dance in the dark night.
In the end, we both laughed. We released the link of our hands, letting laughter take over our movement. Vega held her stomach as her laugh was uncontrollable. “We suck!” she exclaimed.
“We do,” I agreed, pointing a finger gun at her. “And here we are, acting cool and all, while not knowing a shred of knowledge on the dance floor.”
“Oh, well,” Vega let her laughter die down before returning her soft gaze with a smile. Sweat formed around her forehead, and with reddish cheeks, I knew that she was a little tired. She guided her hands to mind, intertwining our fingers together. “We can always try again, don’t you think?”
I reciprocate the touch with a grip, squeezing her small and rough hands. “We do,” I agreed. “As long as we are having fun.”
Thus, we stepped again. One step forward, one step backward. I hummed a song to guide us—which, surprisingly, was known by Vega. She hummed along with me, completing the song as though a ballroom musician was playing a beautiful dance music. I imagined that the whole room was a stage, and we were the only pair under the spotlight. Before I knew it, our steps synched. We no longer stepped and bumped. Our flow became ordered, our movement was effortless.
I looked at Vega, and she looked at me. Our eyes met and we did not break out our gaze. Oh, how lovely she was. Dark eyes shining from the moonlight, reflecting the love she had for me. Innocent, youthful, curious, carefree. An innocence I had forgotten, but an innocence that helped me anyway. This. The eyes I loved. The eyes I love. The eyes that discovered a lot of things and learned a lot of things. The eyes that were hungry of experience and knowledge.
My hand crawled from the small of her back, up to her neck, and up to her cheek. It felt natural, as though it was what my hands were supposed to do. I touched the tinge of rose on olive. Her cheek was warm, emanating from deep inside her.
I wonder, how long have I been in love before that moment? The feeling was unbearable. It was a time bomb that waited to explode from the depth of my heart. In the end, the bomb exploded first, as I said, “Can I kiss you?”
I was expecting Vega to be surprised and refuse. Instead, she—still a little startled, of course—nodded and leaned in. Her eyelids fluttered closed softly as her face inched closer, and I noticed that her lashes were long. To add the detail of the heaven’s crafted beauty of a human being, I believe.
I closed my eyes, too, as our lips met. She then pulled away as quick as the kiss landed. I drew away, too, before ecstasy blew my rationality away. We opened our eyes, staring at each other with stupid smile on our face. Well, at least she had a godly smile, while I believe I had the weirdest joyous smile ever.
Thus, Vega squeezed our hands together. “Can you kiss me again?” she asked—oh, well, begged. She was adorable. Spoiled, lovely, and I could not help wanting to tease her.
“No,” I said, firmly, finding the light in her face dimmed instantly. Then, I continued, “It is time for you to kiss me.”
Right as I said that, the brightness of her face came back again, and she fell into a soft giggle. She tiptoed and inched in, giving me a deeper kiss as she wrapped her arms around my neck, trapping me in without letting me go.
Well, I like the game she played.
So, I wrapped my own hands around her waist, pulling her closer to a deeper, hungry kiss. If she wanted to ‘trap’ me in that kiss, I would gladly return the favor, of course. I would kiss her, all the time, every time, not letting go. If possible, I did not want the time to ever end.
I pushed my tongue, knocking on the soft lips for entry. With a small gasp she let out, I invaded her little mouth with my tongue, pushing her down with an intense kiss. Her legs gave out, and I was ready to devour her whole had she not pushed me away.
She broke the kiss, gasping for air. Before, rose was only a tinge of color on her cheeks. Then, her entire face was red in passion and hunger. She gasped; her gaze blurred in euphoria. I held her tighter, letting my beloved honey catch some air. Then, our eyes met once again, and I pulled her even closer.
I brushed my finger gently on her cheek, and love erupted from my heart like a volcano. No, I could not resist. I could not contain the feelings I wanted to say. So, without further ado, I said it. “I love you, Vega.”
Vega’s eyes widened for a second, as if not expecting me to say that. Then, she pouted, feigning sulkiness. “I wanted to say it first!”
Right after she said that, however, her cheeky smile came back. I smiled, sighing softly. Holding her, I rested my head on her shoulder. “Then, say it,” I said—well, more like challenged, I guess.
Vega put her hands behind my back, rubbing softly. “I love you, Hera,” she said, with a voice like a lullaby of sweet dreams. “I love you.”
Oh, how I wish to listen to that voice again and again, every time, without fail. I closed my eyes, burying my face on her shoulder and inhaling the naturally soothing scent of my beloved. “I love you too, Vega,” I repeated. Again, and again. Being in each other’s arms, we repeated the words of love, conveying our feelings and all the words we never said to each other.
In such a dream-like scenery, I prayed to never let her go.
there is only one thing I wish for every day,
and that is to be able to hold you dear, every time.
waltz of the stars.
