so, tell me ‘good night,’
and let the dream guides us to another adventure
dream
noun /drēm/
a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep
In the end, happy dreams have to end. Our harmonized yet amateur little waltz had to end when we heard footsteps approaching the ballroom. We held our breath, tiptoe-running towards the wall and pressing ourselves against the wall in a vain attempt to hide ourselves.
Holding our breath, we focused our hearing on the footsteps, expecting any moment for us to jump out the window to escape. The footsteps approached nearer, and nearer, and then they passed the ballroom without checking. The sound of the footsteps left the ballroom untouched.
We exhaled, rubbing our chests as a sign of relief. We instantly glanced at each other, and broke into laughter.
“That was risky,” I admitted, taking her hand in mine. “Should we go back?”
With a smile that never left her face, Vega nudged my shoulder against hers. “We should.”
Thus, we went back to our ‘secret’ room, flooded in ecstatic feelings. As though euphoria never stopped overwhelming our senses, we dragged ourselves into the room drunkenly, with our minds attached to the ballroom and our little tango.
The day had been a series of overflowed emotions, uncontrollable by our mundane minds. There was a feeling of love in nostalgia, and there was a feeling of love in the present time. The joy I felt from everyone—it amazed me how I could still experience such happiness.
We laid on top of the bed, with Vega in my arms, using my upper arm as a pillow. It was not the most comfortable position, sure, but exhilaration numbed my sense of discomfort. Vega buried her head on my chest, gripping on my shirt. I inhaled the scent of her hair; the familiar scent of my old shampoo. Having my scent on her was such a delightful feeling—as though we were one.
“Are we going to sleep?” she asked, finally, with a hushed voice that was barely audible. Such a small voice, so adorable.
I shifted my arm out from under her and positioned myself on top of her, holding my weight in my arms—one which was numb, if you ask me. “Do you want to sleep?” I replied, touching her cheek with the arm that was a little numb.
Vega turned to face me and rested her palm on my cheek. She pinched my cheek gently—barely pinching—and leaned upward to nuzzle her nose on mine. “Do you want to?”
Oh, God, I was about to explode. She was simply too adorable to be true. “I want to kiss you, that is what I want,” I said, accidentally leaking out my thoughts.
Vega chuckled and raised her eyebrows in a challenging manner. “What’s stopping you?” she teased, then leaned upward to kiss me.
It was a one-punch K.O., alright? I collapsed on top of her and nuzzled on her neck. “I love you so much, Vega,” I repeated, sounding both relieved and desperate. “I wish this moment would never end.”
“Me too,” she patted my back. “Me too. I love you so much.”
“I am glad I met you, Vega,” I said, closing my eyes and letting my brain taking over whatever words I spouted. “You saved me.”
Vega might be confused with my words, but she laughed it off. “You were the one saving me, though?” she said, and I felt her cheek touching the top of my head.
“Yeah, but you also saved me,” I insisted, feeling her warmth spread from the touch of her cheek against my head. “But you also saved me.”
She hummed a reluctant reply, not wanting to prolong the ‘no, you save me’ discourse. Instead, we changed our topic into another miscellaneous talk before we both fell asleep.
as I fall asleep next to you,
I thank the world for being so graceful to my little being
dreams of a thousand nights.
