Chapter Eight: To The Homeroom (III)

Chapter Eight: To The Homeroom (III)

Jul 14, 2021

"Oh..?" The female senior hums in curiosity at my, ehem, surprising entrance. "What's the problem?"

"Uhh, you see..." I scratch the back of my head. "My friend and I here are, umm... lost, we really don't know where to go. We're freshmen, and we can't seem to find our homeroom anywhere. We also only have a few minutes left, and we're panicking so much..."

"Ah, is that so?" She laughs out in response to my short explanation. "It's totally fine! I'll help the two of you find your way into your respective homeroom."

"Really!?" I look at her with such ecstasy.

"Of course! I'm a senior after all." She then smiles at me. "Anyway, we should hurry on. We only have a few minutes left. Which homeroom are you two assigned to?"

"We're in Class 1-A, if I'm not mistaken... right, Ayano?"

"Yep!" Ayano immediately responds.

"1-A, hm..?" The senior mumbles, ideally thinking aloud. "Well, that's quite easy. Follow me, and I'll get you there just right on time!"

Ohh, thank the heavens... Ayano and I are saved.

"Here we are!"

In front of Ayano and I is the door to our homeroom.

"It's 7:38, just two minutes left before your homeroom starts." The senior says as she briefly takes a look at her phone's screen. "Go on, you two! In the mean time, just pick some random vacant seats to sit on. Your teacher will be rearranging the seat pattern anyway."

"Thank you so much for your help!" I bow to her as a sign of gratitude. "Without your help, we wouldn't have made it on time!"

"Yumi-chan is right! Thank you so much, senpai!" Ayano then bows with me, agreeing with my statement as she expresses her wholehearted thankfulness.

"Aw shucks, it's no problem! If you need anything else, just feel free to approach any senior you'll find along the way later on." The senior quickly makes us raise our heads, insisting that it wasn't that much of a big deal.

"But seriously, thank you so much! Our lives have been saved because of you, senpai!" I happily chant, mostly because of relief.

As Ayano and I say our quick goodbyes to the helpful and oh-so-kind senior, I quickly proceed to opening the door which leads to our long lost homeroom. In a heartbeat, I then bring Ayano with me.

Soonly after closing the door, I instantly start to vaguely hear the various conversations my other classmates were having. The air of the room was filled with their giggles and noisy talking. I bet they haven't even noticed me and Ayano walk in.

...It's not like I'm complaining. This way, they wouldn't notice that we barely just made it in time.

"Ayano, here." I whisper to her as I hurriedly walk towards the two vacant seats at the back.

Letting out a long exhale, I take a seat on one of the armchairs. Ayano then sits down on the one in front of me.

"Okay, let's see..." I briefly take my phone out to check the time.

7:40
Thursday, April 8

I let out a sigh of relief.

"Right on time."

..........

.....

...

"Oh, that reminds me! I heard about our homeroom teacher a while ago! I heard some of the seniors in the hallway talking about the respective teachers and stuff."

"Ehh, really? Do you know who our assigned teacher is?"

"Not that I exactly know who our adviser is, but as far as I know, she's a woman! Miss Nakamura is her name, or so I've heard."

"Wow, that's awesome! But... how can you be so sure that this 'Miss Nakamura' is indeed our adviser?"

"Well, I heard the seniors in the hallway say 'But Miss Nakamura is the teacher for Class 1-A, right?', so..."

"I see. In that case, we know a bit already!"

"Right!? I'm the best at eaves
dropping."

"Ahaha, but don't be so proud of that! That's bad!"

"Hey! It isn't my fault that they were talking a bit louder than they should be!"

"Still though, girl!"

Gossiping this early in the morning, huh...

I'm listening, I guess.

Hehe, let's see if our homeroom teacher really is 'Miss Nakamura'.

Just then, someone walks into our homeroom.

It was a tall, pretty lady who had a gentle expression on her face, smiling at us as a greeting.

"Pardon me if I'm a bit late, but I'm Nakamura Suzuki, and I'll be your homeroom teacher from now on. I look forward to teaching you for this school year, students!"

Oh, would you look at that.

Their gossiping turned out to be true.

Hello, it's me! The delivery of this part was a bit late from what I have planned, but this is the third and final part of the eighth chapter of Written! I will publish the ninth chapter sometime soon, so I hope all readers would wait until then. Thank you so much! (^∇^*)

~ Senpai is a Japanese word that is used broadly to mean something like 'senior'. Ranking below a senpai is a kohai.

it seems like the girls who were gossiping can be a reliable source of information 😅
