“Uh huh. Totally not like you sat there being all cheeky about what you did.”
“Look, I was just determined to beat you, since you already surpassed me on the last 3 courses.”
Suddenly a random voice echoed into the room, mid conversation.
“Boo!”
Nova looked towards the window to see her dutchie friend.
“Oh noooo, a ghost has come to haunt us!”
She chuckled.
“Good morning, Aki.”
The curious dutchie would smile at her two friends.
“Morning, Nova. Tommy.”
Tommy waved towards her, being very familiar with the dutchie who’d come and visit them so often.
“Hi Aki! Nice to see you!”
“What are you two up to?”
She would ask, tilting her head.
“Not a lot. Just chillin' and playing Mario Kart.”
“Yeah while Tommy’s being a CHEATER!”
Tommy sharply inhaled.
“Oh my lord- I’m not cheating! You just had really bad luck this time!”
“Besides, if we were online, you and I both know we’d practically get our asses handed to us.”
Nova looked away.
“Yeah..yeah, you’re right. I feel that would help us train for the Island Tournament though.”
Tommy pondered.
“I mean, probably. We should be fine though, we’ve done pretty well getting 1st or 2nd on Hard CPU.”
“What’s the Island Tournament?”
Aki would also ask as she hopped in through the window and closed it after.
“Oh it’s basically what the name states; several groups of people from all around our island compete in a video game tournament and whoever wins gets crowned Champion. We enter it just for fun.”
“Nova and I won last year so now we’re training to keep our titles; The Mario Kart King and Smash Bros Queen.”
“Knowing you two, I’d bet you have a lot of fun.”
“We do! Actually..do you wish to play, Aki?”
She pondered Tommy’s question for a few seconds.
“I..well..uh. Sure! I don’t really know how to play, though.”
Nova would hand her one of the two extra joy-cons they had on the table, and pat the spot in between their spots on the couch, suggesting for the dutchie to sit down and unwind.
“That’s fine, we’ll teach you! It’s pretty easy to get the hang of.”
“Alright! Also, off topic question but did you guys like the pumpkins I brought you?”
“Yeah! We uh...made pumpkin pie with them. It was pretty good.”
“And Caribbean Fish Soup. The pumpkins sorta add that “special sweetness” to them!”
Tommy would add.
Aki would smile and blush a little, knowing the pumpkins she grew herself brought them so much pleasure.
“I’m glad to hear that! I’m glad you guys actually use them and stuff..unlike my brothers; they try to smash them for their own pleasure. Especially Phantom and Rutabaga…”
“Had to grow them somewhere more secluded because of that.”
“Oh..which reminds me. I don’t think you guys have met my siblings yet, have you?”
Nova shook her head.
“Other than Dulce and Aspen, I don’t think we have.”
Tommy thought about it.
“Assuming Jay, Splash and Usui don’t really count cuz they’re the ones who introduced us to you, then no,we haven’t.”
Aki nodded.
“I see. I could probably take you both to go meet them later, if you’re up for it. Fair warning though..they’re a bit..”
“Wild.”
Tommy scoffed.
“They can’t be as wild as Jay and all his friends when they’re all in the same room together.”
“If we can handle that I’m sure we can handle meeting your siblings.”
The dutchie would only chuckle, amused by how brave her two feline friends were.
“Alrighty, but don’t say I didn’t warn you beforehand!”
This comic series is, in a nutshell, going to be based on my own childhood experiences from growing up in the Caribbean with my family.
Caribbean Escapades primarily focuses on Brian and his close friend Usui. Joined by their friends, Sammy, Jinx, and Tyler, as well as their classmates, they leave their home island of St. Monusea and venture across the Caribbean for the summer; they experience new things and new people to befriend, and on occasion, old and familiar faces as well. And who knows? Maybe they'll discover new things about themselves, too!
