In this chapter I delved more into the dreams and the core of Sougo's emotions. Being envious of someone and liking them are very closely linked emotions, and we all know how Sougo felt about Hijikata joining their dojo. Also Hijikata is the most stubborn/closed off character (he is next to Gintoki on that one) , and the idea of getting to know a secret and most vulnerable side of someone is exciting no matter who we're talking about here.
Also I felt like the idea that it is Okita's guilt/shame and Hijikata's obliviousness to his feelings is the main reason why Sougo keeps picking fights with him is a good reading of their dynamic
Okita has three strongest desires:
First is to make (or see) his sister happy.
The second is to kill the bastard that won't let her be.
Third: is to kiss that very bastard.
In the aftermath of Mitsuba arc, the elder Okita sibling is recovering from her sickness thanks to a miraculous surgery.
Sougo, while he is extremely happy that his sister is alive and well, is dealing with a lot of feelings from being hopelessly in love with the same man as her sister, and the shame and guilt that comes with it.
And on the other side Hijikata, who is stubbornly deaf to others' and his own feelings, does not know how to face Mitsuba again- or doesn't know if he even should.
Catching Sunrise is a Gintama fan comic that I have been posting on my tumblr for a while now. It is closer to a character study than a romance. The style of each chapter/page is experimental and it will remain that way.
(I do weekly page updates on my tumblr. Each chapter will be compiled here upon completion.)
