Klaus walked out onto the arena, hands behind his head with confidence.
“And now! Welcome to the arena-stage, the Class A kid who takes finger guns to an entirely literal level, a master of the point-and-shoot technique - Klaus Blaser!”
Klaus nodded to himself in satisfaction, they gave the announcement just as he requested. Soon though his eyes landed on the opposite side of the arena, where Chimlin was making her way up.
“And on the other side is the shock-and-awe of Class A, she’ll be sure to strike you, with her quirk, confidence, and skill! Give it up for Chimlin Nguyen!”
Klaus grinned widely, as Chimlin took up a sturdy stance.
“Hey Chim!” Klaus called out, pointing his right index finger at her, supporting his arm with his left. “Let’s have some fun, eh??”
Chimlin put her hands up as well, middle and index fingers together as the gesture through which she summons her electric whips. “You bet it’s gonna be fun!” She shouted back.
The announcer called for the match to begin and immediately Klaus reacted. He swung his right hand, shooting off one smoke missile after the other at Chimlin’s feet, immediately a dense wall of smoke obstructing both his, and Chimlin’s, sight. Without any hesitation he continued, his left hand now swinging and shooting off his regular missiles into the smoke.
Disorient and catch her off guard. That was Klaus’ plan. He knew Chimlin expected him to stick to long range attacks, it’s what Klaus was good at. But the boy had come up with a different plan to hopefully surprise his opponent. As soon as he shot the last of his missiles he ran forward, right hand with regenerated missiles in front of him.
He wanted to strike Chimlin in the torso, all five missiles released at once. Guaranteed, that would be enough to launch her out of bounds. He entered the smoke, looking through the shadows, having been training to locate his targets even in a distorted environment.
A sound right in front of him, and Klaus fired off all 5 missiles on his left hand. They struck the ground, obliterating the pebble that Chimlin had tossed there. Before he could react, she exploded from the smoke billowing on his right side, seizing his wrist so he couldn't aim at her. Klaus’ eyes widened as he saw the bright orange strand of electricity she trailed behind her. He recalled her having said something about denser electrons allowing her to make stronger whips….
Of course, the smoke.
“Now, Klaus, I know you have those high explosive missiles- why you hiding them?” Chimlin sneered playfully.
Klaus averted his eyes for a moment, only to slowly look directly back up at Chimlin, a wide smile spreading across his face.
“I’m really not hiding them, they’re just somewhere you wouldn’t expect”
Chimlin glanced down at Klaus’ feet, seeing how his toes shined a bright red. In that instant, Klaus tapped his toes on the ground and a massive burst of energy sent the two flying back to opposite sides of the arena. As the smoke cleared, the audience witnessed a massive crater in its wake.
Despite being thrown back, Chimlin swiftly regained her footing, orienting herself back towards where she expected Klaus to be. Instantly, two long whips of lighting formed at her fingertips, swinging forward as she hoped to capture her opponent. But as the smoke parted over the arena, she couldn’t spot him on the other side, hearing only the sound of another explosion hitting the concrete beneath them. She glanced up, and Klaus was above the arena, having launched himself into the air. He was now missing the toes on both feet; he must have used the second pair to launch himself upwards. Klaus oriented himself directly above Chimlin, just as he began to fall.
The boy crossed his arms over him and pointed his feet down, yelling “Supermove: M4 Total Bombardment!!”.
Chimlin braced herself as Klaus’ full missle supply fired simultaneously at her, a mix of smoke, high explosive, scatter and regular. The missiles regenerated almost instantly, and Klaus winced at the exertion. Chimlin became lost in a world of smoke as explosions rained down onto her entire half of the platform.
Klaus had to sense to save a missile to break his fall, and rolled onto the ground several seconds later, having trained himself well in falling as he pulled his limbs in. Then, as quickly as he landed he got up, rising up with his fingerless hands at his sides, balancing on toeless feet. I must have knocked Chimlin out with that, he thought to himself, there was no way she could evade. But he squinted; piercing the smoke were still moving trails of orange lightning. The trails were circling methodically in a domed spiral formation - Klaus found it almost captivating to watch. Though his entrancement didn’t last long.
Suddenly one of the whips lashed out of the smoke and struck at him, colliding with the ground at his feet and catching him entirely off guard. The electric force was immense, enough to explode the ground under him and throw him backwards out of bounds. Klaus fell on his back, shocked.
The audience of the arena gasped. As the smoke cleared, Chimlin was revealed to be standing on a small platform of concrete surrounded by a massive crater formed by countless deflected explosions. Although she was dirty and bruised, she raised one arm into the air triumphantly.
“Klaus Blaser has been struck out of bounds! Chimlin won this round!”
The crowd roared alive as the replay showed what had happened in the smoke. In the hailstorm of rockets, Chimlin had created the dual electric whip dome, whirling them around herself. The whips motion created an electromagnetic field which deflected the rockets, sending them careening everywhere but on her. The crowd awed as she was hit with the flying debris, and yet still stood her ground, continuing to circle them until she was able to land the last blow on Klaus’ descent.

High up in the observation deck, a pro hero stood from her chair.
“Is something wrong, ma’am?” her assistant asked.
Wyvern stared down at the arena, where Chimlin was stalking off happily. She smiled.
“Write down that name.” she said.
--
As soon as Klaus launched his attack, Chimlin had managed to deflect almost all of Klaus’ missiles with her double whips, as she spun and rotated them around herself, creating an electro-magnetic barrier, hitting the well-aimed rockets off of their trajectory, and leaving herself almost unscathed. No one would have thought this was possible, but now everyone did know Chimlin had even more going for her.
