"Oh Christina, what are you up to," She asks, hoping Christina didn’t notice Josiph.
"Marie, if you are going to continue with what grandpa taught you, don't get caught by mom alright," Christina replies looking behind Marie. Seeing nothing. Marie freezes in place with a smile.
“Yeah,” She sighs out in shock and Christina looks pissed for a split second. Then it disappears.
“Or have mom find out,” She says with a small smirk.
"Like having mom find out about Sarah," Marie comments and Christina freezes.
"You don't tell and I won't," She growls. Marie nods in agreement and Christina turns and leaves. Marie turns and goes to the study. She looks through her grandfather’s books to find something. She grumbles and mumbles while looking for it. She smiles as she finds it after a while of searching. She is holding a spellbound that belonged to her grandfather. She opens it and searches the book for a specific spell.
"He said shield and if grandpa put it up,then it would be in here," She whispers as she continues to search the book She smiles and sighs in relief when she finds it. She starts to collect everything for the spell. She gets a candle, herbs, and a couple oils. Once she has everything she starts the spell and lights the candle. She drips the oils and scatters the herbs around and above the candle as well. When she finishes the spell the flame flashes for a moment. She sighs as she feels it work slightly. She grabs her training gear and heads out to the field. When she gets outside the sun is shining more and Josiph is laying down in the middle of the field.
"What are you doing," She asks, eyeing him with curiosity.
"Relaxing in the sun," He says while stretching and closing his eyes.
"You know it is hard to practice when you are in the middle of the field," She says while nudging him with her foot.
"Okay, I’ll go sit on the rock," He sighs as he starts to get up.
"That wouldn't be a good idea," She says as she puts her bag down.
"And why wouldn't it,' He asks, cocking an eyebrow.
"The rock is outside the shield," She comments as she pulls a couple Sabres to practice fencing and sword fighting.
"What," He questions in disbelief while looking at her.
"I couldn't make the shield as big as my grandpa could," She comments as she walks towards him with the Sabres.
"Why," He asks while watching her closely.
"I just learned the spell," She replies while handing him one of the Sabres.
"What," He says in shock and worry.
"It's ok," She comments as she walks towards the middle of the field with him following.
"Uh okay, but aren't spells that are just learned temporary," He asks, still a little worried.
"Yes, but let’s not focus on that now. Let's practice," She says while taking her stance with a slight smile. He takes his stance and chuckles. They practice for several hours and the sun is high in the sky. Josiph starts to get burned and hurt by the sun. So, they decide to go inside. When they get inside they decide to grab a bite for lunch.
"So, what do you want to do," She asks as she makes a sandwich.
"Well, there's always the Winson invitation," Josiph comments as he opens the pantry door.
"True, that would be nice," She answers, thinking about it.
"Okay, we will go and what are you looking for," She asks as she walks towards him with her sandwich.
"The secret compartment that your grandfather had made," He answers as he seems to find the access button for it. He smiles as pushes the button for it to open. The compartment opens and it lets out some cold air.
"Wow, I had no idea that that was there," She comments, looking into the compartment as she eats her sandwich. It is like a small hidden refrigerator. It was cold but not to the point of freezing. It has several bags of assorted blood type bags and some weird fruits. The fruits aren't something you can go get from any garden. He goes through several of the blood bags and then chooses one.
"While you eat, I'm going to call my mother," She comments as she finishes her sandwich and takes out her phone. He starts to heat the blood up in the microwave.
"Okay," He replies as he waits for his blood. She starts to walk out of the room while darling her mother's number.
"Hello mom," Marie gets as she gets into the other room.
"Oh, hi Marie," Her mother greets.
"Uh mom, the butler that grandpa had is here and is ready to work," She says, hoping that the lie works.
"Oh, that is wonderful," She replies without paying full attention, "He can start with your siblings' room."
"Okay, bye mom," She comments with a silent sigh.
"Bye," Her mother replies while yelling at someone. Marie hangs up her phone as she walks back into the kitchen. She sees Josiph’s mouth covered with blood as she enters the kitchen. She walks over to him with a soft smile.
"You know, you have to clean that off right," She says, grabbing a rag and wets it in the sink.
"Yeah sorry, I should be more careful," He says as he looks at the floor.
"Yes, you should," She chuckles while wiping off his face, "You are just like a little kid."
"Why do you say that," He asks while taking the rag from her.
"Because you are extremely messy and always asking questions," She answers with a soft smile as she starts to head towards the stairs, "Oh, and you got a job now."
"What," He questions as he finishes cleaning his face.
"Yep, you are now the butler," She answers as she heads up stairs to her grandfather's study.
"Okay, what about us going to the Winson's home," He asks as he follows herinto the study. She is moving books, files, and papers away from the corner of the room.
"We are going today," She answers. She uncovers a trunk. The trunk looks like an old treasure chest. It has brass trimmings and hinges. There isn't a lock on it. The stain on it has started to wear off.
"So, that's where it was," He chuckles out as she opens it. Inside the trunk there are several suits. A few books, some pictures, and a few more personal items. She pulls out a suit for him.
"Oh, then you will want to wear something nice," He says as he starts to take off his shirt. She nods as a blush creeps up her face as she sees him without a shirt. He is pe and muscular. She notices 2 tattoos on him. One on his shoulder and the other one on his chest. She doesn't ask about them but does make note of them. She leaves the study quickly. She gets to her room and starts to go through her clothes. Josiph walk in as she continues to look through her clothes.
"How about this," Josiph comments while holding a light baby blue sundress. It looks light but not see through. It looks about knee length and has little flowers on the bottom of the skirt.
"Wow, it is beautiful but I don't usually wear dresses," She says looking at the dress.
"Why not wear it? I found it in your grandfather’s study," He says then realizes what he said.
"What? Fine I will," She says as she takes the dress from him. She goes into the bathroom. She starts a shower and let's the water warm up. She then strips her clothes and steps into the warm water with a content sigh. She grabs her Coconut water and Aloe Vera Shampoo. She breathes in the scent as she lathers her hair. She rinses her hair and the water runs down her body rinsing the soap out of her long brown hair. She starts to think as she grabs the matching conditioner for her hair. She lathers it in her hair as the thoughts continue. She thinks about everything as she rinses her hair. About Josiph. About being a hunter. About being a witch. About her mom. About her siblings. Lastly as she grabs her Coconut milk body wash she thinks of her grandfather. She scrubs her body in deep thought of all of this. She rinses still in her thoughts. She steps out and grabs the light blue towel that's near the shower. She wraps it around herself and then looks at the dress.
'Why did my grandpa get this dress? Why was it in his study? Is there more then one? How did he find a dress like this,' She thinks as she picks up the dress. She feels the fabric. It feels like silk but not quite. The color is a light baby blue that seems comforting and the flowers almost sparkle. The sun dress seems almost made for a child but it was in her size. She gets dressed and notices some flats on the floor nearby. The flats seem to have appeared out of thin air. She looks at them questionably and carefully picks them up. They are light blue. They are made of the same light fabric. She walks out and into her room. Josiph looks at her stunned.
"Wow, you look beautiful," He says, still stunned.
“Thank you. I’m just glad everyone is busy. Also I have no idea where these flats came from,” She says as she looks in the mirror.
“I’m glad they are busy as well. We can leave in peace,” He says with a sigh, “The flats were brought to you by your blood. A pure blood hunter’s blood can summon things they need. Like shoes, necklaces, and whatnot.”
“Oh well, let's get going then,” She says as she walks towards the front door, ‘If my blood summons things then why didn’t my grandpa tell me? Why didn’t it activate during The Rite?’
“Okay, I’ll drive if you like,” He says as he catches up to Marie. He gets to the door and opens it for her.
“Yeah, you can drive,” She answers, still in deep thought.
“Okay, here we go,” He says as he catches up to Marie. He gets to the door and opens it for her. He gets into the driver’s seat.
“Is it really okay if we use your mom’s vehicle,” He asks as he starts the car. The vehicle is a ‘06 black Chevrolet Trailblazer. The paint is chipping but most of it is intact. The windows do have a dark tint to them.
“Yeah, as long as it's back in time for her to go to work,” She answers with dull eyes. He nods as he starts driving down the long gravel drive. She looks out the window and watches the scenery pass by. She watches as the scenery changes as they get on to the main road. She sees people going from shop to shop and meeting up outside a local restaurant. She sees cars going up and down the road. They turn off on a side street leading back out leading out of town. They pull up to a short driveway leading to a cozy yellow farmhouse. It has a small flower garden lining the porch and steps. A white picket fence lining the driveway. It is very peaceful looking and welcoming. They see a silhouette in the window with a pair of golden yellow eyes.
“Mother, someone is here,” A voice calls out as they park the vehicle. A tall female nods as she heads towards the door. Marie and Josiph walk up and knock on the door. A 6 foot skinny woman with long blonde hair.
“Hello and may I ask who I have the honor of talking to,” She greets, looking Marie and Josiph in the eye.
“Hello, I am Marie Aula and this is Josiph Luncast,” Marie answers with a smile.
“Oh hello, we are honored to have you come by,” She says as she motions them into the house, “I am Marilyn.”
“Thank you,” Marie says as she steps into the house. Marilyn shows them to the living room.
“Kyle. Lyon. Come say hi to our guest,” She calls through the house. She then looks at Marie and Josiph, “I’ll go grab some tea.”
“Coming,” Two male voices are heard calling back.
“That was a wonderful practice, son,” The older male says as he and a younger male come into view. The younger male has dirty blonde hair. His eyes are a golden yellow. He’s wearing a loose t-shirt, gym shorts, and a pair of tennis shoes. The older male slaps the younger male on the back. The younger male grimaced slightly. The older male has dark brown hair and golden yellow eyes. He is wearing a t-shirt, sweatpants, and tennis shoes. He gives the younger male a sharp look as he slaps him on the back, again.
“Thanks dad,” The younger male comments softly as they enter the living room. Marilyn comes back in as well but this time she has a tray. On the tray is a tea kettle that looks gold trimmed. Also it has a light blue background to a nice yellow and red rose print over it. She also has matching cups, plates, and spoons with it. She also has a small stack of snacks as well. Marie smiles and thanks her as Marilyn hands her a cup of tea.
“Well, who is this,” The male asks in a gruff but polite tone.
“I am Marie Aula. It's nice to meet you,” Marie answers politely as she adds sugar to her tea.
“Oh well hello, it is an honor to have you in our home. I am Lyon and this is my son, Kyle,” Lyon says, introducing himself and the younger male. Marie finishes fixing up her tea and goes to take a sip. She stops a few inches from her mouth.
“It's nice of you to invite me over,” She says as she looks over at Josiph to check on him. He looks worried and confused.
“You and your guardian honor us by being our guests,” Marilyn comments, looking at Josiph. Marie sets her tea down and sighs.
“Could I have a moment alone to speak with Josiph,” Marie asks politely.
“Yes, of course,” Lyon replies and starts to motion for his family to leave the room. Marilyn smiles but it doesn't show in her eyes as she gets up from the chair. She then quietly and gracefully leaves. Kyle sighs and sticks and sticks his pockets as he leaves, hiding a smirk. Lyon forces a smile as he leaves the room. His eyes though show the raging storm of anger that's hidden beneath. Once everyone, except for Marie and Josiph. She looks at Josiph. Joseph is scanning the room with a troubled look.
“Josiph, what’s wrong,” She asks, trying to figure out what he is scanning for.
“Something seems off about this place,” He replies as he continues to scan the room.
“How,” She asks, not fully thinking. He frowns in frustration at the question.
“I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on it,” He answers in an irritated growl.
“How about you link up with me, mentally, and we can discuss it as we have tea,” She comments and he sighs. He nods as he sits down next to her in a love seat.
‘You know linking like this can last a while right,’ He says mentally after making the link.
‘Yes, but frettin like you were will cause problems,’ She answers and sighs as she calls, “Marilyn. You and your family can come back in.”
Marilyn walks in with Lyon right behind her. Kyle is right behind both of them. Something seems to be on his mind or has upset him. Marilyn goes back to her chair and Lyon sits in front of Marie. Kyle stands off in the corner. Joseph cocks an eyebrow towards Kyle. Especially since Kyle was sitting on the couch before they left.
‘Kyle seems to be trying to hide or something happened when they left the room,’ Joseph comments as he reaches to grab a tea cup. Lyon stops Josiph and Marie looks towards both of them.
“I’m sorry but out tea can’t be stomached by your kind,” Lyon comments with a hidden smirk.
“And what do you mean by that,” Joseph asks as he concernedly tells Marie, ‘Don’t drink the tea.’
‘It seems they are uncomfortable with us, especially you, being here,’ Marie comments as she puts her untouched cup down on the table.
“Oh Marie, did the tea not suit you or did you not enjoy it,” Marilyn asks concerned.
“It smells wonderful but I haven’t taken a sip yet. So, I do not know what it tastes like. Why do you ask,” Marie comments looking at her.
