Swords in the library
No swords in the library
At least that’s what the sign used to say
Shouting at and punishing everyone who even tried
Now that it has been worn out it simply says
Sword in library
There have been rumors, not quite denied
That there is a sword that lays inside
With a blade stronger than any force of nature
A hilt more beautiful than all the stars in the night sky
The most difficult thing to find for those who dare try
Many people have seen it
Right out of the corner of their eye
But upon further inspection it is simply a trick of the light
A figment of the imagination, perhaps
Running from view like a leaf in the wind
There have been people
Who have heard it in their dreams
Calling and crying
Hoping that someone will find it
Without even trying
I too have heard it once or twice
Calling my name, begging for a master
Or perhaps it was just that
A dream, a figment of my imagination
I don’t believe in such stories
They are just that
