Two hours later I found myself back at Macy’s house. Macy was obviously unsettled, partially due to the disappearance of her friend, but also because of my presence. I don't blame her, if my friend disappeared and I thought her ex had something to do with it wouldn't be too happy to spend a week with them either. I had her letter in front of me, and I was trying to decipher it. It only had the words “Don’t come find me. Evilyn knows where I am.”
I felt around on it looking for indents. If there was some then maybe she wrote down a number, or an address on the page before it. Then I could follow it. After a moment I felt a small indention. I grabbed another paper and pencil and scribbled over it, revealing the message.
It read “709 West-bouny st. Kallsville Illinois ”
“Hey Macy, come look.” She swiftly came over.
“What's that?” She questioned.
“There was an indent on the paper so I wrote over it and it was an address. Maybe this is where she's going.”
“Wait,” she paused, “that's her Mom's address.” She concluded.
“Was she planning on going there at all?”
“Not that I know of.” She said,
“So it was impulsive.” I got up as I said it and made my way to her room.
Macy followed me as I started searching her room.
I mumbled to myself, “Her charger’s still here, and most of her clothes are too.”
“What?” Macy asked, irritated.
“This was impulsive. She wanted to get out of here so she did. Look, she didn't even bring her charger or her clothes.” I stopped, and thought for a moment. “Maybe she didn't wanna be found, that's why she didn't bring her charger. Do you have her snap or Find my iPhone on or something?”
Macy immediately stopped and unlocked her phone. After a moment she said, “It says no location found. She turned off her location.”
“Did she see anyone before she left?”
“Yea Justin, but I doubt that had anything to do with this.” She blushed.
I looked at her confused, “What do you mean?”
“He’s her old hookup, they broke up after you two got together, but he came over last night and they.” She trailed off.
I nodded, “Okay, so maybe she panicked and went to her parents house.”
“Okay, so now what?”
“When do we go? I have a car so I can drive us.”
“What? You still wanna go?” She looked bewildered.
“Yeah, something about this all seems off you know?”
She paused, “Fine we can leave tomorrow. You can sleep on the couch I guess.”
I grinned, “Okay, have you eaten?” I asked.
“Don’t try to put moves on me, we're looking for your ex, remember?”
“I’m not, I was being polite because I’m starving and I'm gonna get food with or without you.” I grinned wider.
“Fine.” She finally agreed.
