Y’know, I haven’t ever given it much thought about my powers before. Just always accepted that I had them. But I guess that’s not exactly healthy, like avoiding every single reflection near me.
…….
Yeah, I’m leaving that can of ‘Nope’ for another day.
But I am going to try to explain my powers to, well, whoever is listening. And kinda to myself I guess. It’s odd I know but, just bear with me okay?
So, the first main and obvious power I have is of course, my reality one. I mean, it literally represents itself in my hair. But my power, just like reality, can be broken down into many aspects.
Before I begin, it’s important for me to explain what exactly ‘reality’ means so that you get a better understanding of how my powers work. First off, Reality does NOT equal truth. Reality is very messy and complex, it doesn’t have one true form or definitive meaning, no matter how many times you look at it. Uh, think about the Reality Stone before it becomes a, well, stone. The Aether. It’s an actualised representation of what reality is like, always shifting, never in one shape and changes depending on what or who’s around it. From my own understanding, reality and my powers work mainly upon 2 things, the physical and the mental senses. When you touch, see, smell, taste or hear something, that’s you physically experiencing reality. The mental sense is a little harder to explain…. Ah! Think of it like reading a book. When you see what’s written on the page you then have an image in your head. That’s the mental reality that switches from person to person. 10 people could read the same book, have a different image in their head and all 10 thoughts are reality. It’s… more complex than that but that the best I can do for now. So, just to sum it up, reality isn’t truth, it’s what we experience physically and mentally. Got it? Nice. Now, on with the show.
The easiest one to talk about is my ‘illusions’. Despite what I just said, it’s important to note that most of the time, what you’re seeing when I use it, isn’t an actual illusion. Say I pick up an apple and change it into a banana. In that example, I’ve actually altered the make-up of that apple down to the atom. It used to be an apple but it is now a completely different fruit entirely. When I alter things like that, I have to keep it relative to its original state. What I mean by that is, either the alternate object I’m changing it into has to stay roughly around the same size, or when I’m shrinking/growing something, it has to be the same object, not a new one. Though I’ve only tried altering inanimate things for now, I tried once on myself and it didn’t work which makes me think that I can only alter things that aren’t, well, alive. The drawbacks when altering are… harsh, to say the least. If I use up too much energy changing something, I myself will start to be changed too. Now I don’t get to control what changes, it could be a hand that spasms out of form or a leg that falls through the floor. Most of the time my own atoms basically become unstable, making me have what looks like a spas attack. The one thing I hope never happens again is when my mind becomes unstable. I kinda turn a bit… what’s the word? Dark. Last time it happened, I turned Bill into a stick insect and tried to squish him.
…
ANYWAY. That’s my altering part of my powers with objects and stuff and, uh, yeah. Now onto the other part of it with the actual illusions. Like how I said before, reality is our experience with the world through our senses. My illusions let me change said senses, both physical and mental. I can shift what you feel around you into whatever I can imagine and it would feel real until I shatter it. Every item you touch, sight you see, sound you hear, heck even the scents you smells, all change to what I want and feel real, like when you touch my hand and it feels like natural human skin and not cold metal. That’s the physical side of it. The mental side I actually have a real example of. Remember Wanda? Scarlet Witch? Cause of all the experimenting and shit those scientists did on them with the Mind Stone, the Maximoff twins actually ended up more or less like us Marina twins. Anyway, with Wanda, she’s more or less like me, power wise, aside from the flying with her own energy blasts, *sigh* I’m still tryna figure that one out. Anyway, when she ‘taps’ into someone’s mind, she could see what was in one’s head and choose what they saw, effectively cutting off their physical senses around them. The mental aspect is the same for me, only I have to physically touch them in order to make a connection to their mind, for now at least. Wanda’s got a way better hold on her powers than me. I get to see what they’re currently thinking of in their head, kinda like a silent movie, and change it to what I concentrate on in my own.
I hope that kinda makes sense, it made sense in my head but I don’t know if the words came out right.
Okay, so that’s the illusions done, now onto some of the smaller aspects of reality powers. I can tell most of the time when I’m being lied to or deceived but a few things get past me now and then. That’s because when one truly believes the lie they’re telling is what’s real, it’s slips past my radar. Another part of this is being able to ‘see’ what’s being hidden, like when there were all those scribbles on the wall or when someone uh, tries to hide their scars. I don’t try to look at them on purpose, it’s just another thing out of my control…
Most of the time I try to ignore it and focus on the illusions they’re trying to put out, it makes all the stuff I can see kinda blurred, like looking through plastic. Still there, no matter how many times you try to avoid it….
Um, moving onto the final part of my powers, like my charming sister I can also Portal Jump too but to a much lesser extent. Like how she can only change her body and hide small objects, I can only teleport my body and small things with me. I’ve tried to open a portal like she can but nothing, not even a spark. Ah well, guess that’s just another thing I get wrong. Also, I can only teleport a small distance compared to Tech, not to other realities unfortunately, just from city to city.
And uh, I think that’s about it! If you stuck around hearing me ramble to the end, thanks I guess. Well, I’d better get going, I have some vocal’s to record for our album and I don’t have any other time to do it this week.
OH, that’s the last power, slight technokinesis. I can only levitate some devices and do certain things from my head, like disabling a camera or sending a text.
Well, that’s everything. Bye!
…..
*sigh* *sounds of sleeves rolling up and a slight hiss of pain* I’m really glad no one else can see these new scars…
……
Shit, I thought I ended it- *click*
