Persei regained his strength and quickly clawed his way up the hill and finally onto the torch-lit path. When he peered behind the path, it was utter chaos. Husks were wandering around the forest and some had started earring the kroma sorcerers. Persei darted his gaze away, trying not to see the kroma sorcerers being mauled to death. He heard footsteps behind him and a large shadow loomed over him. He knew this was it. He closed his eyes in defeat and remembered the people he loved. He pictured his mother’s disappointed face once more in his mind.
“Goodbye...mother.”
The husk began to lean down and slowly extend its arm out to grab Persei. He just laid there in defeat until a thought popped up in his head.
“YOVEN!”
A sudden surge of energy filled his body and he grabbed his tesseract and summoned a glyph under his foot, causing Persei to be pushed forward and away from the husk. On instinct, his legs started to run and he gritted his teeth through the pain he felt. He needed to see that Yoven was safe. He encountered the wolf husks again and they growled at him. He grunted and summoned a glyph under his foot, which he used to propel himself upwards. He looked below him and saw the wolves below him. He focused on his foot and summoned a glyph under it and used it as a platform once more to stay in the air as he ran back up the path.
Myun laid in defeat, exhausted and barely holding on to his tesseract. Yoven held two swords, panting and drenched with sweat from head to toe. The wall of fire was still blazing and standing tall around him.
“Did you hear that, Myun?” Yoven panted.
“Yeah…I think we should go.” Myun said.
Yoven placed his swords back inside his orange glyph for safe keeping.
“I better bring this down. If we’re gonna get out of here.”
Yoven walked towards the edge of the fire wall to dissipate the fire. He was stopped by a bony hand that reached in from the outside and grabbed his body. “What the hell?!?” Yoven exclaimed.
He looked up as he saw a skull with glowing red eyes appear from the flames. His body began to shake in fear but the bony hand didn’t release. Myun saw this and tried to summon a green glyph. A green bird started to form on the green glyph but quickly shattered and disappeared. Myun let out a cough from his lack of energy.
“Yoven! Look out!”
The blonde male looked back at the husk and saw Persei crashing down from above and onto the skull of the husk. He summoned a small glyph on the head of the husk which caused it to jerk downwards and into the ground.
“Persei! Get one of my swords from the orange glyph on the ground!”
Persei nodded and reached in the orange glyph and took out one of Yoven’s flaming swords. He took it and slashed it at the wrist of the bony hand holding Yoven and it released him. Persei panted and looked down at the bony hand he just cut until he felt an embrace from Yoven.
“Persei! Thank you for saving me!”
“Don’t mention it...Do you know what’s going on, Yoven? I thought no husk could enter the blue dome? Where’s Proxima and Dizonia?”
“I don’t know either man. I think the safest bet is to follow what Proxima Nexus said and get back to Bjorn Village at the finish line!”
Myun regained the strength to stand up and said, “Wait but we can’t exit because of the blue dome between the forest and the southern entrance to the village.”
Persei placed a finger under his chin and started to think.
“Well, it’s better either way. We can regroup with more people and Hyacinth is probably there already. We can probably break the dome with all our powers combined if it has to be like that. Ow!-” Persei grunted and fell on his knees as his bruises began to throb once more.
“Woah, you’ve been through alot. Here, I’ll be your legs as thanks for saving me.” Yoven said, lifting Persei once more and placing him at his back. Myun walked over to them and took deep breaths.
“You okay, Myun?” Persei asked.
“Wh- Of course! I’m just a bit tired because of Yoven! Either way we better hurry, I’m worried about Hyacinth already.” Myun responded, blushing a little.
“Then let’s get going!” Yoven yelled as the three of them began running forward to the finish line down the mountain.
Proxima summoned her red glyph behind her. Out came a spear and another and another. Soon, a storm of red spears flew toward the Lich King but he was unphased.
He lifted his hand and the husk he was standing on blocked the red spears flying his direction. When the spears stopped, he checked to see in front of him but didn’t see Proxima standing there. The Lich King looked behind him and blocked Proxima’s kick. He flew ahead and onto the blue glyph Dizonia kept maintaining from afar.
Proxima stabbed the face of the husk and kicked it to propel herself back onto the floating blue glyph. The Lich King summoned a glyph and out came his black sword. The Nexus and the king started to parry and thrust each other’s blades. Proxima’s fighting was more swift and less elegant. She twirled her spear around to increase the momentum of it and tried to hit him. The hooded man said no words; he grabbed ahold of Proxima’s spear with no effort and threw it away. Proxima grunted as the hooded man zoomed to her and punched her in the gut, which sent her flying backwards. She scoffed and regained her composure before summoning another spear.
“You pesky Kromagoths.”
While Proxima was battling with the Lich King, Dizonia continued following the torch-lit path down the mountain as fast as she could. She flew past a few kroma sorcerers still alive and running down the path. She saw some getting eaten alive but she couldn’t help them. If she summoned a glyph to help them, the glyph holding the blue dome together would disappear and more husks from all directions would rush inside. She continued flying down the path and saw Yoven carrying Persei and Myun dodging the husks and running.
She finally reached the finish line at the bottom of the mountain where Hyacinth was. She had her red glyph covering a big portion of the ground, summoning red glass that shot up once a husk entered it.
“Hyacinth Myrrh!” Dizonia shouted.
“I’m kinda busy here!”
Hyacinth did a backflip and a red glass spike appeared and stabbed the last husk. Dizonia landed in front of the red glyph as Proxima’s glyph began to dissipate.
“Hyacinth, I need you to go back up the mountain!”
“Why, Miss Nexus?”
“More husks appeared and some kroma sorcerers caught up with them! I can’t fight them at the moment cause I am keeping the blue dome stable.”
Hyacinth furrowed her brows and let out a sigh. “Miss, do you know how the husks came in?”
“It’s the kromagoths. They probably broke a hole in my dome. I’ll need to find the hole and seal it.”
She gasped after hearing the words that came out of Dizonia. She then began to get agitated as she started running back up the mountain. She summoned a red glyph under her and summoned a pillar of red glass that threw her up the mountain. Dizonia looked to the side of the blue dome and began to run along the side of it, looking for the hole. She saw the southern entrance of Bjorn Village but ignored it and continued to run along the blue dome.
Hyacinth crawled back up the mountain and pierced every husk that went her way with her red glass spikes. She saw two dots running in the distance and squinted her eyes to check who it was. She couldn’t see their faces for a moment but then she saw Yoven, Persei, and Myun.
“What are you guys doing? Get going! I’m heading back up.” Hyacinth exclaimed. Myun and Yoven looked at each other hesitantly. Myun grabbed the wrist of Hyacinth.
“Hyacinth, don’t go. We can let Miss Dizonia and Miss Proxima handle it. Let’s get to Bjorn Village already!”
“That’s the thing. Miss Dizonia went down in search of the hole in the dome. She can’t summon another glyph and is powerless until she finds the hole. There's people getting killed up there! I can’t stand by and watch!”
Hyacinth tried running off but Myun kept holding her wrist. She stopped and looked back momentarily.
“I’ll be careful, Myun.”
“Good.” Myun mumbled as he let go of his sister's wrist. Hyacinth summoned a red glyph and was off. Persei placed a hand on Myun’s shoulder and coughed.
“She’ll be alright. She’s strong-” He felt his shoulder hurt.
“Really strong.”
Myun gave him a soft smile. “Okay! Let’s get going! We can help out Miss Dizonia find the hole in the dome too!” Yoven followed the green haired boy down the path.
Dizonia kept running for miles around her blue dome and momentarily stopped to catch her breath. “Damn, I need to hurry! The husks are only going to increase as time reaches midnight!” Her thought was cut short by the sound of groaning nearby. Dizonia quickly covered herself under thick bushes to hide from the husk that was approaching.
It was another one of the tall humanoid husks. She watched as the husk scuffled his way across the bush she hid behind. Once the creature was far enough that it couldn’t see her, she popped out of the bush and touched the footprints of the giant. She began running, following the direction of the footprints to the hole in the blue dome. Pushing aside branches and leaves, Dizonia eventually reached a clearing and saw the hole. She looked around, looking for someone but couldn’t see a sign of anyone so she began to approach the hole. She placed her hand along the ridge and inspected it.
“I knew it. A wall breaking glyph must have done this…I must cover this as quickly as possible.”
Dizonia closed her eyes and held her tesseract. The hole started to fill once more with a blue haze. But in a few seconds, the newly filled hole turned black and sizzled out of existence, leaving a hole behind like nothing happened. Dizonia fell on her knees and gasped and panted. She quickly realized what was causing her magic to fail.
“ An anti-magic glyph must be keeping it open- mmmm” A pair of hands grabbed her from behind and gagged her. Dizonia tried to struggle but before she knew it, she could feel a knife pierce through her back and she began to scream in agony. She heard a female voice whisper in her ear. “ Shh go to sleep, the poison will kick in soon.”
Dizonia collapsed onto the hard ground and her vision began to blur. She flipped around and saw a hooded figure staring down at her. The figure tried reaching down to her chest and grab hold of her tesseract but before she did that, Dizonia grabbed her tesseract and out came a beam of blue light that shot out into the sky and phased through the blue dome. It disappeared into the clouds not long after. The woman dodged and looked back down at Dizonia. She scoffed in agitation.
“Heh, pathetic. I’ll be taking this.”
“N-no…” Dizonia tried to grab it back but the poison started to take a toll on her body and not long after, she blacked out. The hooded figure lowered her hood and inspected the tesseract.
“Tch. Gyron should’ve been the one to guard the hole…” She let out a sigh.
“Anyway.” Riche said as she clasped onto Dizonia’s tesseract and summoned her glyph above her hand. She then grabbed onto her own tesseract around her neck. Out came her black glyph that appeared on her other hand. Riche placed both glyphs on top of each other and the blue glyph started to convulse.
“Reverse Kroma.”
She muttered under her breath as the blue dome started to fizzle from the bottom with black smoke. The dome continued to crumble with black tendrils that crawled upwards. Riche placed Dizona’s glyph in her pocket and put her hood back on and walked away back into the forest. The blue dome continued to crumble to black dust.
