Tristin, a plucky teen, finds herself trapped in this land of monsters after a treasure hunt gone wrong. Unable to return home, Tristin enters the care of Mara — a grumpy recluse with strange powers and a stranger past. Between navigating monster culture, surviving masquerade balls, and untangling the malevolent motives of the mysterious Michael, the cards seem stacked against the pair as they try to make the best of a less than ideal situation.
