Behind the door was a meadow.
He idly noticed that the second side of the door was less elaborate than the first, only having a house carved onto it, as he walked through.
The meadow’s grass was a bright green, almost unnaturally so. The little streams that wove their way through the meadow were a bright blue. The sky was only a shade or two darker than the water, with fluffy looking white clouds and a bright yellow sun. The colours were if they were chosen by a child to colour in a picture.
And the animals in the meadow weren’t normal.
What he had originally though was just a white horse was a unicorn with a golden horn. The rabbits were actually jackalopes, with deer horns between their ears. The birds were twice the size of a normal one and in all the colours of the rainbow.
In the streams were fish that looked more akin to ribbons, long strands of colour dashing through the water. Frogs jumped out of the water, quickly changing between tadpole and full grown depending on if they were in the water or out of it.
The insects were all like brightly coloured jewels, each glowing their respective colours.
Sitting on a rock under a tree, facing away from him, was the girl from the carving. Her wings were folded against her back, and she seemed focused on something in front of her.
