Moonlight
I was brushing my teeth as I thought about what happened yesterday. It hurt me to see Josh so happy for one moment and then shattered the other time.
We went so crazy over the fact that he could be touched and that I could feel him. We were madly happy. We thought the mantra worked it's magic and brought Josh back to life. So we went outside to check if the other people could see him too.
I was so nervous and I
could sense that Josh was too. We waited on a road for a while and
decided that Josh would purposely bump on someone to see if the person
could feel or see him.
The first person appeared from the corner and
Josh was starting to walk towards the person, I crossed my fingers as I
waited to see what happens.
When they bumped onto eachother, I was really happy and thought that the person could feel and see Josh too. I thought Josh didn't have to be ghost anymore until the person started looking so shocked and started to search around what he bumped to.
Josh tried waving his hand infront of the man but the man simply ignored him. I realized that the mantra didn't work enough to bring his soul and body back together.
Josh stood there for a while in silence and I couldn't do anything but look at him. When he turned around, I noticed that his eyes were teary. I was about to go to comfort him but he disappeared. I felt helpless in that moment.
I went back home and when I reached my bedroom, I broke down crying unawares. I am not an emotional person in all honesty but however, I couldn't help it yesterday night. I felt so sorry for Josh.
I know it wouldn't be the end and we would still find a way to bring him back to life, well, I was sure of it, I am a positive person but maybe I was too happy at that moment that I didn't expect anything to go wrong.
After I was done freshening up myself, I got out of the bathroom and changed into some comfortable sweat pants paired with a t-shirt.
I went to the kitchen to grab some cereal as I didn't feel like preparing something else for myself.
After being done with my breakfast, I went inside my room to find Josh laying comfortably on my bed.
"How are you feeling?" I asked and went to sit on the end of the bed near him.
He took a deep breath and replied, "Dead as usual."
I laughed a little and said, "I am sorry... I know how happy you were yesterday just like I was."
He got up and rested his hands beside him and said, "No, it's okay... I felt quite stupid to have expected things to change too fast and too easily you know. I don't know what's there to do to get my old self back."
"We have a way now. That book is our way. We need to get more information out of it." I said.
"Can't you go back to the museum?" Josh asked.
"I can't... They won't allow me anymore." I answered.
"Why? What did you do?" Josh started to look worried.
I stared at him for a while as I debated within myself if telling him what happened would be the right thing. I finally came to the conclusion to tell him.
After I told him what happened, I waited for him to make fun of me but to my surprise he didn't.
He said, "I am so sorry that you have to go through these to help me but, you're my hope and I need you to help me." This boy was surely unpredictable.
"I am so glad that you could find hope in me. It keeps me motivated to help you." I smiled as I said it.
Josh smiled back at me warmly, got up and went through my bookshelf for a while. I wondered what he was up to.
"I thought you didn't like reading books." I teased.
He looked at me and said with a smile, "Heard the type of book someone reads tells alot about that person. So checking out what kind of person you're."
I remembered that my books were mostly romantic or fun and none of it defined me.
"So you're a hopeless romantic?" He asked in a mocking manner.
"Pfft, you don't event know." I replied sarcastically making him laugh a little.
He kept the book back in the shelf and came back to sit on the bed. He sure wasn't a reader.
He gazed at me as he laid on my bed with his hands behind his head and asked, "You know which song reminds me of you?"
"I didn't even know that a song reminded me of you, which song?" I was curious to know.
"Moon light, mood lights, moves like J-Lo. Tell me what you want from me.
I'll
do it if you say so. 'Cause you're the only one for me. I'm never gonna
say no. I found me an angel. I can see it in your halo" He sang.
I didn't see that coming.
"You sound great for a ghost." I joked and both of us laughed.
I guess it was time for me to admit that I started to like having Josh around me. He could be annoying most of the time but I loved the way he was easy going and made life seem bit easier.
I was looking outside the window when an idea hit me.
"Hey, I got an idea." I said, turning to Josh.
"What is it?" He replied.
"Since you can touch things now and no one can see you, you could get hold of the remaining information, don't you think?" I shared my plan.
"Yeah we can... You want me to steal the book?" He asked frowning at the same time.
"No... You can take my phone and take pictures." I replied.
"That sounds like a plan." Josh agreed.
"Will
putting my phone inside your pocket prevent other people from seeing
it? You don't wanna scare people making it look like it's floating by
itself, do you?" I asked as the question popped inside my head.
"I don't know... Maybe it will... But I can manage to not let people see it. Or maybe just let people think that way and I am sure your phone will be all over the news next day." He laughed after saying that and so did I.
"Let's be serious now... We are running out of time, we can't forget that." I pointed out.
Josh let out a deep breath and said, "We sure are... Wish me luck."
"Best of luck... You're going to be alive soon." After I said that, Josh and I gazed at eachother for a while as if we were trying to say something to eachother with our minds.
Josh gestured to give me a salute and then disappeared. I just hoped to get all the required information and soon free Josh from his trouble.
