No one's POV
500 years after Lycus was established, the Six Pillars, as they were called at the time, spread out over the surrounding continents, creating the following islands: Espen, nicknamed Bear Island for its peculiar shape. Fay, the land of ravens, was based on the dominant population at the time. Muyal, the land of rabbits, is known for its vegetation's growth rates. Renwick, the land of deer, is known for its phenomenal festivals. But Fay was governed by both the Dragon Clan and the Wyvern Clan, which made it very strong.
The people of Renwick thought that Fay would rise up and try to overthrow them, so they went to the governing head, a pegasus named Haneul, and told her of their plans. Haneul would not be turned against her friends, so her brother, Han-wool, spread the rumor far into Fay that Haneul was starting a war. When she found out, she was furious. But in her sleep, he killed her. Haneul had a son, Ho-seok, bright and caring, who at the time was only two years old. Han-wool raised him as his own with a false sense of security and love, but her son was pure in heart and not easily convinced that his uncle was good. Ho-seok grew up to comfort his people, and they soon realized that Fay was an ally. Han-wool was furious because if the war did not proceed, he would no longer be the ruler. Han-wool secretly continued the war plans, and 3 months later, sprung an attack on Fay.
Fay was far from weak, but they were not mentally or physically prepared, so they requested aid from Lycus. They sent out many men to assist in the battle against Renwick, but Lycus was short-handed. After 20 years of warfare against Renwick, with the help of the Esponians, Fay and Lycus won. Han-wool was devastated and went into hiding, hoping he could live his life in peace without anyone finding out his deeds. The only one who knew where he was was Ho-seok. For three years, he hid. But one of Ho-seok's friends knew what Han-wool had done twenty-three years prior. In a fit of rage and detest, after finding out the truth of his mother's death, Ho-seok killed his uncle. He took his rightful place on the throne and restored the peace by signing a treaty with all the islands. A lot of damage was done, but nothing compared to the lives that were lost. 700 years later, the Islands completed the final repairs and restored the world to its former glory. This event was called The Great Reform.
After the reform, the descendants of the wolves found the ancient writings of their forefathers. They taught these scrolls for the understanding of the people and future generations. Masters arose, and they taught in the temples. A young cub of 16 by the name of Subarashi Uta was very interested in these scripts. He was tall in stature, about 5 foot 11 inches, had black hair, and pretty, brown, almond-shaped eyes. He studied them and learned them by heart. By the time he was 18, he could recite and remember all of them, and with that knowledge, he taught many children. One day, he heard a voice. He looked around and saw no one, but a few moments later, he collapsed.
"Hello? Is anyone here? Show yourself!" He heard a rumbling sound and looked in its direction but saw nothing.
"Surabashi, welcome to the Sanctuary. It is the home of all the great wolves. Your ancestors reside here, and when you pass, you too shall dwell here eternally."
Surabashi looked at his surroundings and breathed a breath he didn't realize he was holding in. How was he, a lowly cub, to stay in an extraordinary place like this? He hadn't even gotten assigned to his station in the village! He looked once more towards the voice. With wide eyes, he uttered a name he had read so much about in the early scrolls.
"G-Garien? Is that you?" he breathed. "Yes, child. It is I. You are the second of many to find and fully understand the writings of your ancestors. You are a magnificent asset for bringing up the Chosen One. Your knowledge and curiosity will help you gain great wisdom and advice for the future generation. Take the writings you have read, and make a book. Add to it until the time of the Chosen One, and by then, he should be ready to learn and accept his responsibilities. At 16, he will be taught from the ancient ways, and he will recruit people with whom he shares the closest bond. His opposite will also be awakened and will confront him at the time of war."
Surabashi could not believe what he had just heard. Not only did he have to write a book for this so-called Chosen One. But there was going to be another war? Why was Garien telling him, out of all people, this information? How long would the new war last? And would this person be ready to fight it? Garien looked at him and gave him one other shocking piece of information. "The Chosen One will be my great-great-great-grandson." Surabashi looked at his feet and thought a little while, then looked back at Garien. "Ok, I'll do it. But on one condition." Garien looked at Surabashi and tilted his head.
"Show me your Camo."
Garien took one step back and looked him straight in the eye. "Are you sure that that is all you want?" Garien received a firm nod in response. He inhaled, and Surabashi's eyes widened as he watched the transformation. In a breath, before Surabashi stood a tall man, tanned, deep blue eyes, black hair with red highlights, not overly built, but not thin, clothed in a golden sash and white robe. "So?" Garien raised a quizzical eyebrow. "Are you pleased?" Surabashi nodded slowly. "Yes, of course."
"Good. Now let me give you your instructions."
