Moonlight
"Hey get up, the movie's over." I opened my eyes slightly as I heard Josh's gentle voice.
"Moonlight, we gotta go, wake up." He said once again and stroked my cheek with his fingers.
I looked at him and felt his cold breath on my lips, our faces were barely few inches away from each other. He was looking at me in the way he never did. I realized I was leaning on his shoulder so I slowly moved myself away from him trying hard to shake the sleep away.
I got up and almost fell since I couldn't find the balance yet but Josh held me by my arm and stopped me from falling.
There were no people around so I guess Josh let me sleep until all the people poured out. That was quite nice of him.
We got out and I stood outside for a while trying to sink in the fresh air in order to drive the sleep away. After few minutes of standing in the cold evening air, it actually helped and I got enough sense to feel hungry.
"I am hungry." I complained and looked at Josh who frowned at me and then smiled shaking his head.
"What?" I asked blankly.
"Nothing just nothing." He replied.
I started walking when Josh asked, "Are we heading home?"
"Not yet, the night is young and so is my tummy... It deserves to have all the food it can store." I replied making Josh chuckle.
I smiled and said, "You have a cute laugh."
Josh shot his head up from looking at the ground and looked at me like he never expected me to say that. Maybe he had the right to feel that way because I don't compliment people usually.
"Wow, I did not expect that." He said still looking shocked.
"Now don't let that get into your head, I might have said that because I am on my way to eat food." I said.
"Too late, my head is already bloating from all your compliments." Josh replied sarcastically and I laughed.
"So you want to become a boxer?" I asked as I remembered about the movie.
"Nah... Not really, maybe an actor." After he said that, I studied his face carefully and noticed he could quite charm the audiences with his face in the first place.
"You could qualify for that." I remarked honestly.
"Wow, you're seriously hitting me with a lot of compliments today, you planning on something?" Josh joked and both of us laughed.
"I might be but I am not a good liar either so maybe I am just speaking the truth." I replied.
He looked at the ground and stayed quiet for a while until he asked, "Well, what's your dream? What do you want to be?"
I thought for a while and finally spoke after I found my answer, "A writer. It's obvious that I am an introvert and I love reading books so I want to try writing in the future too. I could comfortably be at home and write books. That would be amazing."
"Or you could go out, travel places, explore new things and write down all the discoveries in your story." Josh said and he was right too.
"Yeah, great idea... Or I could write a story about what's happening right now, it would turn out great." I suggested.
"Uh huh and if your story becomes successful and turns into a movie, suggest me as the actor to the director so that I could get a role alright? I promise I will give my best performance." He said and I smiled at him.
"It would be a lot better to have you as the actress too." He added and I didn't want to admit it but I think I was blushing.
"Well I am flattered." I said with a giggle.
We finally reached to a restaurant which luckily was empty enough and I ordered a hamburger along with a fruit juice. My order arrived few minutes later and I couldn't wait to eat it. I know it's unhealthy to eat food with a lot of calories in the evening but I couldn't help it. I have to eat what I feel like eating.
I looked at Josh and kind of felt guilty to eat alone.
"Would you like to try eating? I mean you can be felt now so maybe you could eat too?" I asked feeling sorry for him at the same time.
"No, I am not hungry. Trust me, if I were, I would have made you
order something for me already. I can't eat nor do I feel hungry." Josh
replied helping me feel bit free from the guilt.
I started eating my
hamburger and savoring every bits of it and it only made me feel more
sorry for Josh but I can't just not eat either. So this dinner kind of
became a guilty pleasure in its own way.
I was finally done eating and wiped my mouth and hands. I looked up at Josh to see him looking at me.
"Were you looking at me all this time? I am creeped out." I said.
"Where else am I supposed to look at when you got all the lissomeness? " He said with a smirk.
I sighed not being able find a good answer to what he said. He makes me lose my words most of the time but I was starting to not mind.
"Stop looking at me like that, Josh." I said when I noticed that he was still staring at me.
"I can't help it and I like it when you call my name." I was so not ready for the flirty Josh, he makes me feel so anxious and I dread that feeling.
I stared back at him thinking it would help me to get him to stop looking at me. He raised one of his eyebrows and I did the same. He then made his eyes go cross eyed and I tried to do the same but failed miserably.
I brought my hands to cover my face quickly out of embarrassment as I leaned my elbows on the table. Both of us laughed.
I felt Josh pulling my hands away from my face and without realising
he had come closer and our noses touched. Both of us had a sheepish grin
on. We pulled away from each other and looked away from each other
awkwardly. I didn't know what just happened but I wouldn't deny that
whatever it was, it felt good.
Our eyes met once again and after gazing at each other for longer than necessary, Josh finally spoke.
"I love happy endings, Moonlight. So when you write your stories, please make sure they all have happy endings." Josh said with a sincere light gleaming in his eyes.
I nodded my head and replied, "I love happy endings too, you need to help me with writing one."
