"Wait for me."
The boy in his arms quivered. Sol pressed himself tightly against 114, running his fingers through the curly brown hair, whispering quiet nothings in an attempt to calm the other pet.
"Zi," 114 hiccupped softly, the word unfamiliar on Sol's ears, "Zi, I'm scared, Zi, Zi, Zi-"
As the boy cried, Sol came to the realization that Zi was a name, and as 114 repeated it over and over and over - not even acknowledging Sol's presence - he realized that Zi was a subject of tragedy. That something had happened that had broken 114.
"114," Gently, Sol lifted 114's face, cupping his tear stained cheek with one hand and gazing tenderly into the rich brown eyes he was so familiar with, "It will be okay."
He pressed a kiss to 114's forehead, then pulled the boy back into his arms, making sure he was secure before standing, lifting 114 as he did so. A slight wobble, and then he centered himself, forcing his screaming body to listen to him, before taking an unsteady step forward. At a painfully slow pace, Sol pushed through the crowded mess of unsettled pets and made his way back to where Lumi paced.
As soon as the ice-like boy caught sight of Sol, he dashed to his side, ice cold fingers wrapping around Sol's arm, supporting him as his strength waned at the company of a less hostile being.
"Reckless!" As soon as Lumi had deposited both Sol and 114 on the ground safely, the boy turned on Sol, "You're hurt!"
Although he didn't elaborate much, Sol understood what he was saying, his body throbbing in protest of every move, of every touch, but he had gone through worse. At least this much, he could handle. Silently accepting the way Lumi fussed over him like a mother hen - cold fingers brushing over his bare skin as a wet cloth cleaned him - Sol focused on keeping his eyes on 114, threading his fingers into the other boy's curly hair.
"Who is the young one with you?"
Sol blinked at the question, pausing his rhythmic movements for a moment, moving his focus to Lumi before replying.
"One minute and fourteen seconds, for short, 114," He croaked, eyes falling shut with the effort of talking.
He was exhausted. A whirlwind of overwhelming emotions of anxiety fought for control, the emotions eating at his insides.
"Sleep," Lumi's smooth, lyrical voice pushed at his consciousness, and an ice-cold kiss was pressed to his burning forehead, "I shall wake you at feeding time."
