Chapter 19
"I'm ready to eat something really tasty and substantial. Look, she even wrote where we can eat tasty and cheap food in Old Town!" I say tenderly, kissing her on the cheek.
"Don't distract me from the road."
"What happened to you?"
"I won't take my girl to a cheap eatery. Let her date her hoes girlfriends there."
"Do you know each other?" My heart is racing unpleasantly. I don't feel fine anymore.
"No," she says dryly, her hands grabbing the wheel, her knuckles getting white.
"Then why are you acting like that?" I exclaim in bewilderment.
"Why do you trust strangers so much!? She could be anyone and do anything with you, and instead of getting in the car, you started flirting with her!" Alana responds with bitterness in her voice.
"You are right, danger can wait on every corner, but it's impossible to hide from the whole world! If she wanted to do something bad, she would have done it long ago during the conversation and would not have let us leave in peace!"
"You asked for her phone number," Alana tries to get the last trump card out of her sleeve.
"I bet you heard the whole conversation! Even though you turned on the music as if you were a DJ at some nasty rave... I wanted to travel a little longer with you. I know how much you like quiet places, and my mother always said that one needs to make friends with the locals, and not crowd like idiots in silly tourist spots. The locals know for sure where to eat or where to go to see the true beauty of the place, not the expensive, useless pop bait for tourists! You didn't have to be so impolite with her. She was just friendly and so am I. You gave me a chance when you spoke to me at the airport... " All this time I was speaking loudly, but the last words I say almost in a whisper. I really want to hug her now.
"You are a completely different matter! You are you. I haven't approached people like that before!" Her voice, too, becomes quieter and less agitated.
"I've never done that before either. I swear."
"Me too." Silence. The sound of the engine and the flickering trees outside the window. "Can you swear you didn't flirt with her?"
"How could you think that especially after what happened between us."
"Many people have sex, talk about eternal love, and then betray each other, and later splitting assets and children!" snorts Alana.
"This is the lot of straights!" I snort back. "And I didn't mean sex." I pout my lips and look out the window watching the sea gleaming monotonously.
"Sorry." I feel like she doesn't say this word often. "What you said about your sister and mother means a lot to me."
"It means a lot to me too. I haven't said this to anyone before. Some things bring people closer than sex... although, it's a little hard without intimacy," I can barely hide a smile in my voice.
Alana stops the car abruptly. My body moves forward by inertia for a few seconds, and then it meets with the chair again.
"What happened?!" I look in horror at the road ahead, ready to see anything.
Alana's eyes have turned completely black. I swallow, "Ala..mmm..."
She greedily covers my mouth with her lips.
"We can mmmm create an emergency situation at the road..."
"I turned on the emergency lights. Stop talking... Why are you wearing a bra? I don't like obstacles."
"Well, forgive me for disappointing you againnuhmmm..."
