Continued from...
It dawned on Bird that whatever affected Turtle was now acting him. This was no fatigue he had felt before, and he saw the turtles standing at attention still as stone. He began muttering his spell of sight. "Light, give me sight!"
Now...
The Bird could see anything and everything when this spell was cast, including through things and even microscopic things. He could see the tiny evil mites spreading across his own body. His sight could not save him now; only Fox could. Bird's wings became stiff, and he positioned them into a glide. They should make the landing bay even if they were paralyzed. As Bird stiffened, his plan worked, his wings no longer worked, but they froze outstretched so that he could glide. He could move only his beak and kept repeating the words "Evil Mites!"
The mites infected Bird's brain, and Legion became aware of him. Legion forced Bird's heart to stop and his wings to fold, sending Turtle and Bird plummeting to the ground at bone-shattering speeds.
The Snake
DeeJal watched as the termites of Legion chewed through the wall, and they used acid to dissolve it in minutes. Soon enough, the wall was no more, and the termites scurried away to find new trees to destroy.
Legion flew nearby as Danus began to climb the trees. The army of insects lumbered forward. The various shapes and sizes of the military made them formidable and terrifying without the dark magic and fog.
"Sssss move forward, death to the living!" DeeJal bolted forward with the army and began the slaughter of the frozen turtles. Between slash of fang and whip of a tail, "turtles always were the slowest ssssss! Hahaha"
Legion participated in excessive violence. He could give the order, and the mites could stop every infected animal's heart. They were only holding them steady while the fungus completely took over their minds.
The Mouse
Cat and Mouse had been deployed from the resistance headquarters as a Quick Response Force. To the breach in the wall with several of their finest warriors. They sprinted past the lake and were met with a tentacle grabbing one of the cat warriors. The Quick Response force halted and tensed, ready for action. Claws out, Captain Cat and Mouse readied as they watched Lilith's forces roll out of the water. Sea Dragons and Spear Tooths, creatures of the abyss, ready to devour all life before them, began attacking the Quick Response Force.
Cat yelled to his troops, "The front line isn't getting our help today, Tom Cats. Show me what you're made of; the scars will be your medals. Here we stop evil from taking all you love!"
The Forces of Good would leap into action. The cats hacked and slashed at tentacles and shells. When one Cat would lose footing, their mouse comrade would cover and find the weak spot. The mice gouged out eyes and sliced off vulnerable important-looking appendages of the sea monsters.
Lilith laughed. "This is what Fox has sent to fight my entire army! The fool will soon find that the war is lost! Megalodon, clear our enemies!"
The Cat lunged at Lilith, slid under her tail strike, and Mouse jumped on her back. Mouse began his spell as Cat led Lilith in the dance of her life. Up, down, dodge, roll, slash, the Cat was relentless even as her warriors and their mouse comrades fell around her. Captain Cat and Captain Mouse would not fail, and Lilith would fall.
Mouse chanted on her back, "All I can do, All I can chew, I give all my strength, and I banish you." Mouse repeatedly chanted, clinging to the Siren as she and Cat fought. Mouse was draining the Siren of life like a knife, slowly piercing the heart.
Lilith caught Cat's tail and threw her into the water. The Siren pounced with her new advantage and pulled Cat through the water magic to the bottom of the abyss.
Lilith watched Cat's horror with a laugh. She turned to the surface as Mouse finished his chanting and gave his all will and strength to kill Lilith.
They were both surely dead and drained of energy and without the Siren to return them to the surface. Mouse swam to Cat to hold her paw as they both drew their last breaths in the darkness.
The Snake
DeeJal and Legion sped through the forest, leaving a wake of carnage and destruction. Bodies littered the ground, and the forest burned in their wake. They were making good speed to meet up with Lilith's ambush.
"Ssss, the lake is in the next clearing; keep fighting, you maggots!" DeeJal motivated his troops that needed no motivation. The army of insects was effective, freezing its prey before the more giant insects could devour them piece by piece. The two armies merged and advanced to the Resistance Headquarters. DeeJal's forces circled the bottom of the tree. Insect after insect tried to climb the tree, but each suffered the same fate as the last. After a second or two of touching the bark, they would burst into flame in bright light.
"Legion, your time issss now. Come to me." sssss DeeJal began tracing a circle in the dirt with runes littered through it.
"Bzzzz, yes, dark lord, what is our plan to overcome this magic? Bzzz"
"Sssss Legion, this will require a sacrifice; bring me a large drone."
Legion brought forth a goliath mantis as a sacrifice. "Bzzzz, will this suffice bzzzz."
"Sssss' Certainly!" The Mantis stepped into the circle, and DeeJal began his spell. "One of many, part of the whole, I need you all to be Coal, flesh, and mind burn together, meld as one to become my leather."
As Legion listened to the words, it recoiled. DeeJal only needed one of his insects for this spell to consume them all. Legion could feel its consciousness slide away into the Mantis. Eventually, all of Legion's hive mind was trapped in the Mantis.
"Bzzzz Dark Lord, pleazzzzze do not do this; it will sacrifice all of me. Bzzz, there is no hive mind anymore with this magic!!"
DeeJal's tail flicked, and the Mantis ignited in black flames that consumed the insect and all other mindless insects in the forest. The black flame shrank on the Mantis until it was just one long flame that flickered until it slithered down and off the burnt Mantis and coiled around the Snake, giving him an extra dark shadow and protection from the tree's light defenses.
DeeJal slithered over the burnt corpse of Legion toward the Tree. DeeJal would need every part of Legion to create enough energy to preserve his land of darkness and eliminate everything.
PART 3 - The Final Affair
They won the war. Chaos Council had crippled the resistance, and DeeJal coiled, ready to strike, in the resistance headquarters.
DeeJal's mind mused about his enemies flayed before him, dripping with his venom. Before he stood the Fox and the Hare encapsulated in their magic.
"Death is the ultimate destiny for all living things; to struggle against it is to struggle against your being. Give in to the venom coursing through you. There is nothing that can save you from me. Even if you drive me out, eventually, your strength will fade, and I will strike when you are weakest again, again, and again. Until you fall, this will be your life, constant suffering and struggle. Die already, Fox!!"
DeeJal struck, his fangs coated with dark magic, and pierced through Fox's shield. His fangs sank deep into Fox's thigh. The Hare darted to Fox and delivered a swift kick to the Snake's eye, making him recoil and separate from his dark Shadow. The Hare glows a brighter light as he steels himself for the next blow.
Hare's magic was unique and could interrupt almost any dark magic for a time. With Hare's kick in the middle of DeeJal's life-stealing bite, he had separated the Snake from the power he acquired with the betrayal of Legion. The Snake's Shadow slithered to the center of the room as DeeJal recoiled from the strike. The Shadow hardened and became stone sealing the dark magic in place.
From above the sky, a boy stood in the darkness. He had watched this seemingly never-ending war. It brought tears to his eyes that his creations had succumbed to the path of darkness. Perhaps it is time to interfere.
And so the Boy flashed his golden eyes and was on the planet. The Boy said two words just before the Snake had his chance to finish the Fox and kill Hare.
"TIME: BIND."
And with that, the dark world had gone quiet. The fighting had all stopped, and the fear and agony that made the Boy's heartache had stopped flowing. Peace, yes, peace was upon them. But that was due to his magic stopping time. The Boy pondered for minutes, and he wondered how he could end this war. Perhaps it is time to start the world anew; no, there must be a way without resetting everything. There must be a way for all to live in peace and never fear death.
Above him, he saw the tallest tree in the forest's center, which served as the forces of good headquarters. He flew up it, now suspended in the air. He lightly touched the tree.
"So it seems this world's war has killed you, my Edith. Mother Nature, I will let you live once more, but you will live with my God's blood. For your heart is corrupted and darkened by this toxin, I will take it and send it elsewhere, for I have had a vision. A vision where your heart must go through trials to prove it is worthy of being one with you again."
And with those words, life once again resonated throughout the tree. But this time, it was more significant than before. The tree grew taller and broader, sprouting two large bowls-like fountains near the bottom. The Boy used his magic to pass through the tree. Inside the tree, he created a miniature sphere star with his light. Setting his finger on the top of the sphere, a drop of God's blood fell in. It was sealing itself within the globe.
He then made his way half up in the tree until he reached a dark deformed lifeless organ. The size was too great to remove, so the Boy shrank it until it was about the size of his hand. Carefully he pulled the organ out and replaced it with the sphere. He then made his way out of the tree and landed on the ground. Lifting his hands once more, they glowed bright like the sun, and he carved his symbol into the trunk.
"Only those who bear my symbol shall be allowed to enter this place. Those born from those who bear my symbol shall receive it within the mother's womb. As long as they bear my symbol, they shall be able to find this place. But most of all, as long as they have this symbol, they shall be able to drink the water."
The Tree of Life was born with those words, followed by the Eternal Spring. Water flowed through the forest, and life began to come back once again. A great lake formed, and the green was forever beautiful.
"All that is green shall be my Garden," the Boy.
