Arriving at a large, pearl white mansion, Darren followed Amelia into the building, looking around in awe. The last place from a rich person he ever been to was The Apple Queens, Cho Paek's mansion to work on a song collaboration together one time. When he made his way to the foyer, it felt like he entered in a fairy tale ballroom. The area had pure white marble walls and golden chandlers shining bright like the sun. Darren walked on the ruby red carpet, following Amelia down to another hallway. There, they entered another room where he saw The Hexes hanging out. He noticed Gabriel was sitting on a green couch, playing a video game on his handheld gaming console. On the other end of the couch, his twin sister, Nicola, was sitting away from her brother as she seemed to be engrossed reading a book. Darren observed the cover of Nicola's book; the title was in Japanese. It had a colorful blue and pink background, with two men lovingly embracing each other. Darren muttered to himself, " Oh, that's an interesting hobby she has."
At the far off part of the room, where the enormous glass windows were, Nick was standing around talking on the phone. The only person missing was Toby, where Darren could not find him at all.
“Oh, don’t worry about Tobias. He’s just busy with our parents for the moment. But don’t worry, you got us!” Amelia told him. “Hey everyone! Look who I got here!” She yelled at the group.
All of them in the group turned their heads over to see Darren as he awkwardly waved at the band. The cheery girl headed over in the middle of the room, then pointed to two large doors on the other side of it.
“This way…” Leading all of them to the door, Amelia pulls the handles of the door open into an arena.
The arena was big, with wooden floors with red tape borders all over it. Bright overhead lights lit up the room as Darren looked around in amazement. He thought to himself, “How loaded the Alecsandri family are?”
Soon, Amelia stood in the middle of the room, using her hands to show off the arena. She explained to everyone how this arena would help train Darren with his powers. While she was talking, the entire group grumbled at this, which gave the mage a thought that Amelia might have tricked them into doing this.
“Mel? Just why?” Nicola crossed her arms in huff then said, “Why should my brother and I be wasting our time doing this?”
“And how would you help with this? What does this have to do with me?” Nick added.
“I could have been playing my video games right now,” Gabriel joined in with the three of them.
Nicola rolled her eyes then told her brother, " You already are, bro."
Darren watched Amelia, revealing a devious grin on her face, putting her arms behind, then turning back on them. After knowing Amelia for a short time, he knew the girl was more than being a reckless scatterbrain person. Darren learned that there was another deathly side to her with the little time he spent training with her and Mariuem.
“Oh, so I guess you don’t want me to give you your video game that you have been wanting to get, Gabriel? Oh, and this new Yaoi manga that you wanted too, Nicola?” Amelia goes over to where her bag was near the door, pulling out a book.
The girl waved it in the air, smirking as Darren saw Nicola’s eyes went wide open! She ran over to Amelia to get it, pushing up against the music magic mage's body. He watched Nicola extending her arm out high, trying to get the book from Amelia. But the mage raised the manga book so high in the air, so Nicola couldn't snatch it from her.
“You know, I could just use my powers to take that book out of your pretty hands, Mel!” Nicola yelled, putting her palm into a clutch as it glowed with a lavender aura .
Amelia just laughed and said, “I know, but even if you get it, I spelled the book to shock you harmlessly if you touch it.”
“Amelia, that’s just messed up! Why? There is no reason to trick them to help me train. Mariuem got the training thing down pat,” Darren finally said something during all the drama.
“Jeez, fuck, Mel. I canceled my date with Luca for this! He’s going to kill me,” Nick glared at the music witch, clearly annoyed as well.
Amelia looked down at the ground and sighed. Darren saw the girl sit down on the ground, seeing how the girl suddenly felt down. He went over to sit with her in silence, wondering why Amelia was pushing so hard for them to help him. Watching the girl’s eyes filling up with tears, Darren looked as The Hexes' faces went from annoyed to concern for Amelia.
“Aw, this again…” Gabriel said, walking over to the mage.
“What again?” Darren asked.
“The Rise of Light…” Nick added onto Gabriel’s words, while going to sit with Amelia, who was now crying.
“Amelia has an… interesting history with them and…” Nicola explained until there was a loud bang noise that shook the room.
Darren turned his head to the door to see Toby walking up to the group. The boy showed a bewildered face when he saw his sister was in tears. Knowing how protective Toby was, Darren watched him going up to Nick and berated him. The man pushed Toby back slightly, then grabbed his shoulders to calm him down. It surprised Darren at how cool headed Nick was dealing with the angry mage.
“Look, I think Darren should have a right to know about why Amelia is so desperate to help him,” Nick explained.
Toby brushed the side ends of his raven hair and took a deep breath before speaking again. He protested, “She doesn’t need to talk about them! I don’t want her to get hurt…”
“Well, it’s too late for that since we literally helped a bunch of ‘criminals'” Nicola pointed out the obviousness of the situation Darren was in.
He shot a glare at the telekinetic woman, but there was no point starting a fight in front of a crying Amelia.
“No… I want to talk about it. I’m ready to tell everyone. I’m tired of keeping this secret…” Amelia now got herself off the floor, wiping her eyes away.
What turned out to be a day of training soon became another secret to learn about the happy-going music magic mage.
