Jungkook and you take a week off to settle everything down, and Seokjin complains about the sudden additional workload.
“He’ll be fine after I give him some gold. He loves gold.”
“You have gold stock?” You shriek. How rich is this man?
“Hmm, a few?”
Oh, he’s rich rich.
That conversation happened yesterday. Today, feeling a bit better, you’re dressed in a formal black dress and currently on your way to meet your mother.
Why so extravagant? Simple answer. Your mother is extra.
After an arranged marriage with an old man, she gave birth to you at a young age. She was only 18 - still wanted to enjoy life and luxury that her late husband left her.
You were mostly raised by maids, and your mother only checked on you from time to time, although she never missed giving you allowances.
You didn’t mind, though. You were free. As long as you came home on time, she never really nagged.
As free as you are, you’re unsure of her reaction towards marriage. She was in a loveless marriage, and never remarried. You don’t know what she’d think.
Most importantly … what will be her reaction after seeing Jungkook? She can be scary at times.
You set the address in Jungkook’s phone and he drives according to the instructions.
You have small talks in the car, trying to get your mind off of scary thoughts. Everything will be fine. You have Jungkook to save you if something goes bad.
“I’m the one who is supposed to be nervous.” Jungkook chuckles, gently patting your head.
You pout. “I’m worried that she’ll be mean to you. And … I didn’t warn her.”
Yeah, you didn’t inform your mom. Perfect.
Jungkook smiles, taking your hand in his. He plays with your warm hands, drawing unrecognizable shapes on the back of your hand. When your giggles break out, he finally feels at ease.
Both of you have arrived. Literally in the parking lot. All you need to do is just get out of the car and go to the 3rd floor.
But you were scared, so Jungkook said both of you can stay in the car a bit longer so you can gather courage.
“You don’t have to worry about me. I’m really strong. See?” He flexes his biceps and you laugh. “I’ll be there, so rest assured. I won’t let anything bad happens to you; and our baby.”
You sigh and nod. Yeah, maybe it won’t go too bad. Maybe you’re just overthinking.
“I’m ready.”
Jungkook flashes you a soft smile before unfastening your seatbelt and then his. You hold his hand all the way to your mom’s unit, and Jungkook doesn’t say a word about your slightly tight grip.
You ring the bell several times, and soon enough, the door bursts open, revealing your mother, looking classy as ever.
“Mom.” You say, but she doesn't reply. Instead, her eyes are fixed on Jungkook, one of her eyebrows raised high.
“Hello, ma’am. I’m Jungkook. Y/N’s…”
Ah, yes. You guys haven’t labeled your relationship yet.
“Fiancé. He’s my fiancé.”
Your mother drags you into the apartment unit, completely disregarding Jungkook.
Jungkook walks in uninvited, completely worried seeing you being manhandled by her. You’re pregnant!
“Mom!” You whine, but didn’t try to escape from her grip. You know she’s shocked. Like, real shocked.
“What do you mean by fiancé?” She asks sternly, eyes narrowing. “You got engaged but you didn’t think of telling me?”
You sigh, placing your hand on top of hers. “I’m here now, aren’t I?”
Your mom snickers, letting your wrist go. “Are you sure you want to marry him? Are you sure he’s capable of taking care of you? Is he a good person?” She bombards you with questions, side eyeing Jungkook who is approaching you and her.
Jungkook places his palm on the small of your back, giving strength and comfort.
“I’m sorry for not introducing myself. I’m Jeon Jungkook.” He extends a hand, and your mom reluctantly accepts and shakes it.
“I understand why you’re so surprised … we’re not vocal about our relationship. After she gets pregnant, we decided it’s time to be serious.”
“Excuse me?” Your mom shrieks, eyes wide.
“Y/N is pregnant.”
“Pregnant?”
“Yes, with my baby.”
Your mom scoffs, fanning herself with both hands. “This must be a joke.”
“Mom, no.” You say softly, taking a step closer. “I’m really pregnant. And I want to get married. We are asking for your blessing.”
Your mom sighs, massaging her temple. “You won’t change your decision, will you?”
You shake your head, a small smile on your lips. You take her hand and place it on your belly, and even though she tries to hide it, you can see the corner of her lips twitch. She’s holding back her smile.
“I’m too young to be a grandma, please.” She jokes, sighing. Her gaze softens as she looks at you, patting your shoulder.
“Promise me to take good care of yourself. And if he does something bad, I’ll be there immediately to whack his head.”
You laugh, pulling her shorter form into a hug. “Okay, mom. I promise.”
Jungkook watches silently, glad that everything goes well.
Your mom asks both of you to stay over, and who are you to say no? You already have some clothes here, and luckily Jungkook has some extra in his car.
At night, when you’re deep in sleep, Jungkook silently exits the room and goes to the kitchen to drink water.
He sees your mother there, her sharp gaze falls on him. “Sit. We need to talk.”
Jungkook nods and pulls the chair.
“Answer me sincerely, Jeon Jungkook. Do you love my daughter?”
Jungkook smiles. “I do.”
And he didn’t lie.
