After drinking, and crying on the phone, Miyo has fallen asleep on the floor of the living room.
Miyo doesn't often have nightmares, or any other dreams. But after drinking today, his mind is wondering through memories of last year, particularly remembering a party that happened almost at the end of the year. This party was the starting point of Miyo's current troubles, and probably also the reason why he was now sometimes beaten up.
-Last year-
It was in the second semester. Miyo, Haru and GoGo were in their second year, studying architecture. The final exam week finally ended. There were only a couple of projects and extra classes in the next two weeks, but everyone was feeling free, now that the exams were over.
Just before the exams, someone from the student association of their department announced that there would be a gathering the week after the exams. The first and second year students were invited to come and relax from the exam stress. At this point, Miyo was very sociable, and a lot of students, even girls liked talking to him, so naturally multiple people asked him if he was coming to the gathering. Since the beginning of the year, Miyo and his friend were at almost every party or social gathering. This was because GoGo liked going out to bars and he liked social gatherings. Miyo and Haru didn't mind, so they always accompanied him. After a couple of gatherings and group projects, there were a lot of people hanging around Miyo at all times.
Miyo originally wanted to relax at home with his pet and two closest friends after the exams, but per usual, GoGo persuaded him to come to the party. So Miyo went.
Miyo came to the party, which was at a bar in a calm part of the city. The beginning of the party nothing was wrong. Miyo said hi to most of the people, since most of the people knew him. The only thing he noticed was that the popular guy in their year was at the gathering. Miyo never talked to him before, he just saw that wherever this guy went at school, there would be a lot of people to notice him, and his group of friends consisted of three guys and two girls, none of which Miyo knew. This popular guy was tall and pretty good looking, he also clearly had style and there were rumors that he was rich. This guy also was one of the top students. The guy clearly didn't belong to the same group of people as Miyo, so they didn't know each other. Since Miyo never saw him at one of the department parties, he was surprised.
He didn't pay any attention to this popular guy, and went over to his friends' table, which was completely on the other side of the room from where the popular guy and his friends were sitting.
When Miyo came over, he saw that GoGo already drank a couple of glasses. Haru who hadn't started drinking yet also pointed out that the popular guy in their year was at the party, but while drinking, eating, and chatting with classmates, they all forgot about him. Later that night, Miyo participated in a drinking game with his friends and other classmates. They played Truth or Dare. Miyo's alcohol tolerance was good, but since he drank a lot before the game, he didn't want to drink much more, especially after seeing GoGo already passed out at another table, and knowing Haru would have to take GoGo home.
When his classmates started asking questions about Miyo's family though, he felt uncomfortable and had to drink. After some rounds, Miyo was feeling unwell, and left the bar for a couple of minutes to get fresh air. Haru offered to go with him, but Miyo declined. As turned out later, it would have been better to let Haru come along.
Miyo just wanted to clear his head, so he walked for a couple of minutes outside. He wasn't sure if he was feeling bad because of the alcohol, or because he was forced to think about his family, which he didn't have a good relationship with. He came to the conclusion that it was both. After walking around for a while, Miyo started feeling a little better, but he shivered from the cold. He also thought Haru and the other classmates might get worried, so he decided to head back to the bar. On his way, he heard some voices. He couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but it sounded like they were arguing. He walked closer to where the voices were coming from, and heard them argue louder, it even seemed like someone yelled out. Miyo felt nervous, and felt like he should probably stay away from whatever was happening in the next street. He decided to walk as fast as possible past the street, but when he walked past the small side street, since someone yelled out again, Miyo couldn't help but turn his head.
He saw a middle-aged man and a man around his own age lying against a wall, looking pretty beaten up. Around them stood some guys. Two guys looked very big and strong, and then there were three guys that looked like students. Miyo quickly turned away and wanted to go to the bar, but some of the guys noticed him and called out to him. He tried to ignore them, but one of them caught up with Miyo and tapped on his shoulder.
After Miyo turned around, he soon recognized the man holding his shoulder. It was the popular guy from the architecture department, that was previously at the party. Now Miyo also seemed to recall this guys name. He thought someone mentioned his name was Dai.
Dai stopped him and looked at him. Miyo was surprised, shocked and slightly scared. When he looked around, he identified two of the other guys as Dai's friends, that he also had seen at the bar. Not much happened after that, except for Dai saying that this was just some business, and he asked Miyo not to tell other people about what he had seen. Miyo wasn't planning on doing so in the first place, so he agreed. The other people also asked him if he had heard their conversation, but he didn't, so they just let him off.
Soon after returning to the bar, Miyo went home to sleep, and almost forgot what happened.
The next day at school, by some accident Miyo met Dai again. Dai pulled him apart from the group after a class, saying he wanted to discuss something. Dai once again told Miyo, who almost forgot what happened the night before, to forget what he saw and not tell anyone. He also offered Miyo a lot of money to keep quiet. This made Miyo suspicious, and he also felt like it was a bad thing taking the money. Dai was very persistent, and wouldn't let him leave without accepting the money, and since Miyo was really short on money, in the end he accepted.
Dai gave him the money saying he would feel much more assured Miyo would keep quiet after taking the money. After this behavior, Miyo started thinking Dai wasn't a good person, and he decided to stay away from him in the future, which wouldn't be difficult, since until then they only talked once.
Unfortunately, Dai's 'friends' thought different from Dai, and a couple of days before the vacation, they came to threaten Miyo. Miyo explained he wasn't planning on telling anyone what he saw, but they still didn't seem to be satisfied. They also somehow on their own misunderstood Dai giving Miyo money, and thought Miyo threatened Dai to give him money. The guys also warned him to stay away from other people, so that they would be sure he couldn't accidentally talk about what he saw.
Of course Miyo never wanted to say anything, he also was angry at them for misunderstanding the money issue. But he didn't give it to much thought even when threatened, and didn't tell anyone, because the 2 month vacation was starting, and they surely would forget that he had seen something, right?
Wrong. Miyo who already forgot about the whole issue, was threatened by three guys the day the third year started. After this, he got threatened and sometimes beaten up every time he tried to mingle with a group of classmates. He slowly gave up, and started avoiding all social gatherings, later also avoiding going out with Haru and GoGo for a while. The guys that beat him up could still always find an issue to threaten him over or beat him up. This is why, even though Dai himself was never present, Miyo still started hating him, because he thought Dai was basically the leader of this group of people. He also drew the conclusion that Dai hated him.

Having dreamed about what happened, Miyo woke up from his nightmare in a cold sweat. He felt depressed once he saw it was only 7 AM, and even more so after remembering his pet, DaiDai, was gone. Even though Miyo was lying uncomfortably on the floor of the living room, he soon fell asleep again.

I promise my writing style gets better later into the story, anyway here's a tiny bit of backstory
