Milena and Amantine were escorted back by Agrony in such a haste that when the two were finally inside the princess' gloomy chamber, everything felt too quiet.
Carfully they sat in front of each other, as a warmer sun hit the white walls.
There was still some tea left on the table. It was cold, nonetheless Amantine served some to both of them.
"Milena...who?" she asked again.
It didn't take much for the healer to explain the situation. She took a piece of paper and started drawing very simple figures, witing a genealogical tree as well.
As she came to understand that the man was her father the King of Apuleius and the victim of his unhealthy attentions was her half sister her face frowned and her whole body stiffened.
Through the diagram it was clear that the King had many wives that gave him other daughters, but Milena made her understand that only Elira was the one in that difficult situation.
Only a last question was left.
"Mother...who is Elira's mother?"
Lowering her voice Milena answered with a name she knew.
"The Eastern Witch"
After a deep silence Milena gave her a couple of notes for language learning and with a sad smile she separated from the princess after holding her hands to comfort her. Amantine knew instictively that those warm hands were asking to be forgiven for giving her such gloomy news.
"See you tomorrow"
"Yes"
The princess smiled back and let her new friend as she departed.
The door echoed a small noise , then silence embraced the room again.
She couldnt understand if the king was only bullying or directly molesting his own daughter, although her two companions reaction had made her think more of the latter. She felt disgusted by it.
How was it ok for a king to be that perverted? And how on earth people did not care about it?
She recalled Elira's small figure for a moment. What injustice she was being served!
Amantine was still struggling within her inner self when she noticed that there was someone else calling her from the depths of her mind.
Thousands of memories passed through her head and instantly she recalled that she had a sister in her other world that she loved very much.
She remembered well when they fighted over small things, and how they had consoled each other when their old white cat had died. She always defended Justine when their dad would discover one of her disasters in the kitchen. Yet she couldn't remember when was the last time she had seen her.
The only thing she could remember were her smile and her eyes, after a rainy day.
That's when her head suddently got trapped by the image that the uncovered window glass was reflecting.
Both her and Milena had forgotten about closing the curtains when going out.
A shiver suddenly passed her body as if the thunder god himself had struck his lightning bolt into her heart.
"Mes yeux..." she said while touching her lower eyelashes.
There was something going on with her eyes...
With a trembling hand she reached the mirror that so carefully she had made cover and slowly pushed the heavy cloth aside enough for a corner to be revealed.
The first thing to notice was her right eye. It shined of such a light blue that it frightened her so much she instictively covered it with her hand.
Only after that abrupt movement she realized what she had really seen in the window reflection.
The other eye had the exact familiar warm hazelnut shade of her sister.A darker spot just under her pupil confirmed even more that it was undoubtly her eye.It was almost as if she was looking at her.
"Justine..."she wispered while looking at her own self, unable to understand how it had happened.
Traumatized, her body didn't move anymore. Her brain had just stopped processing.
The silence of the room had breached inside as well.
Amantine wakes up as a princess in an unknown world, facing the consequences of losing her family and friends. She doesn't trust anyone, yet she's longing for someone to have a deep human relationship due to the extreme loneliness.
Will she be able to survive, both mentally and physically in an hostile environment?
