Hours pass by of the whole event and Saul and Jonna slept in the room. Though due to some …. “precautions” Saul is forced to sleep on the couch while Jonna sleeps on the bed. To her dismay, she was hoping that he would sleep next to her as she would for Jaune but having Sanstia sisters restrict her from being close to Saul is irritating. What’s even annoying to her is that the Sanstia sister are also in the same room as well. Sara is sleeping next to her, Andrea is working on paperwork in the corner of the corner while Miyoko is hanging upside down from the ceiling eyeing both Jonna and Saul so they wouldn’t get close to each other. To her annoyance, this is not how she’d imagine her first night in Saul’s room to be like. She never thought that the Sanstia family would be this overly protective about him like he’s a family heirloom or an extremely fragile child. The question about it still plagues her mind to the point she could barely sleep. Is he actually a bodyguard of the family? Or is he of noble status from the East or Western City? Or maybe even an illegitimate child of the Sanstia family? The more she questions the more she couldn’t bare to sleep. Yet she looked over and sees Saul blissfully asleep with not a care in the world.
This reminded her how she and Jaune would be sleeping out on the streets in the Eastern City. Either hiding in the park’s bushes and used an old blanket as a makeshift bed or by sleeping in an abandoned house before getting kicked by another homeless person or by the authorities. And then steal some water from the public fountain to use to bathe themselves clean. When was the last time she slept on an actual bed? One that wasn’t so old, creaking and would have bugs randomly appear crawling on them in the middle of the night. Jonna almost regrets taking Saul’s offer the more she thinks about it. While it’s nice to be sleeping on a cozy bed, Jaune isn’t here with her to enjoy the same treatment. Now a new question is plaguing her mind.
“Jaune, where are you?” she said to herself in her mind.
The next morning, Saul awakes as Sara and the others are have a discussion in the corner of the room. And he sees that Jonna was still on the bed as she left curious about what were they discussing about. Saul gets up as he stretches out his arms a bit as gives out a big yawn to which the sisters noticed right away as they make their way over towards Jonna and Saul.
“Guys what’s going on?” he asks.
“Well, since you have been cooped up here for a few days~” Miyoko said.
“We thought it would be nice to take you out of the hospital for a little break.” Andrea follows up.
“And what better way to help you relieve your stress then showing you around town. I don’t think we’ve had a chance to show you around the city since you started working with us.” Sara implied.
“Well now that I think I actually haven’t. I’ve only bits of it during the carriage ride. I guess…. It wouldn’t hurt to relax a little.” He said.
Jonna on the other was left confused because she had no idea what they saying since she can’t speak English. She will have to ask Saul to translate for him later.
“Hey, why don’t we invite Jonna along since she doesn’t know the layout of the city either.” He follows up. However, their bright and cheerful smiles turned into frowns as they stared daggers at Saul for mentioning to bring Jonna with them.
“Why would suggest such a thing?” Sara said in a menacing tone.
“Guys seriously can you cut her some slack? She’s had a rough go of it for the past couple of days. The last thing I want from you guys is to make it worse for her by being hostile towards her. Wasn’t our intention for freeing the slaves from Desperado so they wouldn’t go through hell again?” Saul argued.
They then bit their bottom lip as he has a valid point. But they still don’t like the idea of Jonna coming along with them. They know he’s a new friend to him but at the same time she’s a total stranger to them and they think he’s being too trustworthy towards her. Either that or they’re filled with possessive jealously towards Saul interacting with women that are not in their circle. Who’s to really say on what’s really going on in their heads.
“Well if you’re gonna be acting like that towards her then I’m not coming with you at all. Besides I thought you guys would help me with a little favor but if you guys are gonna act like a total asshole then you can forget it.” He said.
Suddenly they all reached out with their hands as they aggressively grabbed him and pulled him closer towards while still giving him the death glare.
“We’re listening.” They said menacingly.
However, Saul then slaps hard on the top of their hands to which they winced and back away from Saul.
“Nope because you guys are acting such assholes so no favor from you guys.” Saul angrily said.
“Okay fine! We’re sorry for acting like such total bitches towards your new friend.” Sara said while holding back her anger.
“I’m not the one you should be apologizing to. It’s her.” Saul replied as he points towards Jonna.
All while Jonna has no idea what they’re saying. Sara and her sisters pouted her face they didn’t want but Saul gesture them out telling them that they have to. Sara doesn’t like how Saul is giving her an order when it should be the other way around. However, as much as she hates doing it she walks over towards Jonna as she herself is curious about what Sara has to say.
“Jonna, my sisters and I, apologize for my behavior towards you, yesterday. I know that you and Saul and have gotten close for the past few days and I shouldn’t have acted as such towards especially since you’re new here and my guard has taken a liking to you as a new friend. For that, I am sorry.” Sara said begrudgingly.
Jonna can tell Sara doesn’t really mean it with sincerity but she can tell that she too cares about Saul. Although the more she thinks about it the more she questions her relationship with Saul. However, as much she would want to refuse her apology and tell her to shove it. But that would make her look bad in front of Saul as they do seem close. As much she doesn’t want to it either she takes a big sigh and begins writing in her notepad.
“I too must apologize for my behavior yesterday. I know Saul means a lot to you that much I can already tell. I know I should have not acted so hostile towards you considering how you treat him. The reason why I became so close to him is that he reminds me of my little brother when I was still living back in the Eastern City. I’m not asking for sympathy from you for telling you this but I hope this clears up the misunderstanding on why I said I wanted to adopt him. And I do agree that we have gotten off on the wrong foot but, if we can start over from scratch for both our sakes and his, then we can get along.” She wrote as she also extends out her hand waiting for Sara to shake it.
Sara gave out a frustrated sigh as she gives Jonna her hand shake as Andrea and Miyoko follow suit as well.
“There, that’s better.” He said.
“Okay, so what’s this favor you wanted to ask of us?” Miyoko asks.
“Well since we’re all gonna be exploring the town and we need to blend in with the crowd so I was hoping if you guys can help me and Jonna pick out from new treads while we’re walking around town.” He said.
“Well now that you mention, besides your new armor, I don’t think you do have clothing from our town. Miyoko suggested.
“And considering you also need to stop by into town for errands with us you’ll also need the proper look so anyone doesn’t give you the wrong look.” Andrea added.
“Okay Saul, we’ll bite and you have a point. We’ll help you. So come with me!” Sara said as she pulls Saul into the other room. While Andrea and Miyoko help dress Jonna.
After a few minutes of going through dozens of clothing for both of them, they believed they found some suitable clothes for Saul and Jonna. While they also picked out some clothing for themselves since it has been a while since they had an outing. Sara and Saul existed out of the building as Sara is wearing a new dress as is a velvet dress with a top hat and purse laced around her shoulder. Saul was wearing an old grey Victorian-style tailcoat with the Sanstia family crest on the breast pocket. Sara says it’s ordinary clothing for him to wear but the more he looks himself at the more he thinks it’s suited for someone of nobility status.
“You sure it’s okay for me to wear something like this? This seems extremely fancy even for me.” Saul asks.
“Oh come on you actually look good in it. And since you technically work for me and by and large my family as well you have to look the part.” Sara said.
“I guess you have a point. But I’m not used to wearing fancying clothing. The last thing I wore something fancy like this was a tuxedo for my cousin’s wedding.” Saul said.
“Sara has a point, Saul. You need to stylize yourself often.” Miyoko spoke out.
Saul turns around and seeing both Miyoko and Andrea wearing similar dresses like Sara but in different colors. Miyoko was wearing a hot pink dress while Andrea was wearing purple. Though their hats were more fluffy than Sara’s.
“Whoa, you guys…. Whoa.” Saul commented.
“Why thank you kiddo. Perhaps our little outing will be a good experience for you on how to pick up a girl for you.” Andrea said.
“ha ha ha very funny. Wait where’s Jonna?” Saul asks.
“She’s coming. We had to find one that’s easy for her to move in.” Miyoko answered.
“And we couldn’t let her use heels like us because of her foot.” Andrea added.
They all turned around towards the entrance of the building as they see Jonna coming through the doorway with a wooden cane. She was wearing Vera's day dress that covered her from top to bottom along with some flat shoes to ease her footing. Although she was still a bit unsure about the clothing itself since the fabric itself felt more advance than she could afford. Carefully she walks down the stairs as her foot hasn’t fully recovered. However, she trips but was caught by Miyoko.
“Take it easy. You’re still recovering.” Miyoko said.
She help Jonna down the stairs as they walk to their right crossing an intersection of the road and headed towards the central plaza of the South City.
