Halfway to Ari, he realized the energy flowing through his body seemed to have reached its limit. He showed no concern for this and kept pushing forward. The force made him have to take a few steps back to regain his balance. But once he was firm on his feet, he marched forward once again with relentless conviction.
Mylyn, who had a smile on her red lips, gasped in flabbergast. The flame on Xasha's body grew so large that it almost filled up the room. The glow inside the room changed from gold to green, even the obelisk they were in melted under the high temperatures. The golden mana inside the room rushed and created a membrane around Ari to protect her. Xasha's entire body was covered in the mana flames even his hair burned bright with green flames.
Mylyn acted and created a barrier around the room to contain the blaze from breaking out and destroying the city above. The flames became so plentiful and thick that Mylyn could no longer see anything happening inside the room anymore.
She was not worried, instead, there was a brilliant smile on her face. "That kid, it's too bad he isn't the one. To think that he could ignite his soul fire at such a young age. I can't imagine how powerful he will be in the future," Mylyn burst into laughter. "Yes! This continent needs a bit of shaking up, I say. Even those old codgers will have to pay this kid some attention when he comes knocking at their doorsteps."
Mylyn was in bliss when her mouth opened wide. She shook her head with a feeling she could hardly explain welling up in her heart. She had experienced more shocks in this single day than she had in her entire life. Absolutely nobody could have ever expected to find such outstanding cultivators in a place like this.
She noticed there were now golden flames burning among the green. Within a brief period, half the room was filled with green flames and the other with gold. These two flames burned unrelentingly for two days straight. The entire time, Mylyn did her best to keep the city above safe.
The people above, while in no danger, felt the heat welling up from below the ground. This caused a huge commotion as the city was evacuated, and experts were sent in to investigate. The team was left scratching their heads as they couldn't find the heat source after days of investigation. The entire province was in an uproar, especially with Xasha disappearing at such an auspicious time.
On the second day, the flames filling the room began to be absorbed into the bodies of the two mages who had released them. When it all ended. Mylyn saw an unconscious Xasha with an unconscious Ari wrapped up in his arms, lying on the floor.
She approached the two, intending to check on their condition, but was blocked by golden ribbons a few feet away from them. Mylyn looked up at the owner of these ribbons and was taken aback for a moment before a bright smile appeared on her face.
"You're not a Chrono God Beast. Imagine never seeing a Chrono Angel in my lifetime, only to meet one in death and in the desolate region at that." She could help but let out a self-deprecating laugh.
"I care not for you or your sentiments, but you will come no closer to my master." The little girl played with her golden pigtails as she glared at Mylyn threateningly.
"Master, so you have formed an Axis Bond with her?" Mylyn was even more surprised.
"Yes, now back away, succubus," the girl said. Impatiently fanning at her as if she was but a fly.
The little girl wore an extravagant ceremonial dress with long ribbons tied around it. She was only a few feet tall and barefoot, other than the extravagant dress she wore, no jewelry or ornaments, and her hair was just in pigtails. Based on her appearance, one would think she was a preteen.
"I mean no harm to you and your master," Mylyn pointed to Xasha, " I'm with that kid. He is your master's father."
The girl glanced at Xasha. "So he's my master's Lord father. I can tell he cares for her by the way he risked his life to save her, though she was in no danger. He did not know that," she turned back to Mylyn." But you did. Yet you did inform him or lift a finger to help while you were more than capable of doing so." the little girl voiced her suspicions.
"I did not help because I knew she was in no danger and also because it was a good opportunity for Xasha to break past his limit and grow stronger. It's obvious that my gamble paid off. He even ignited his soul fire. When have you ever seen a Lava Sage ignite their soul fire before?"
"I expect nothing less of my Lady's Lord Father. Oh, I see..." The little girl said mischievously. "You have recognized his potential and now you intend to enter his good graces by helping him out. Well no, your help is not needed. I will not allow you to play your mind games here. I can feel no kind of bond between you and him, which means you are a stranger."
"I'm no stranger. I am his teacher and I do not need to get into that kid's good graces, as he already owes me his life. How did you think that your Vadis would find its way to a place like this without my help? Sense their bodies, both of them have trained in breathing techniques of my clan." Mylyn felt wronged, but could not be her domineering self in front of a Chrono Angel. She knew for herself what kind of existence this was.
The little girl paused for a few seconds. "There is a bit of the Sacred Feather breathing technique in the breathing technique they use. However, this breathing technique is completely foreign and seems to steal aspects from several dozen breathing techniques of several races. There are even aspects of the Endless Slumber techniques from the... oh my. What is this?" It was the little girl's turn to be shocked.
"That's what I've been telling you. I taught that boy every breathing technique I knew, and he learned the Endless Slumber breathing technique from a Carbonemys's soul remnant. He studied them and used his knowledge to create a new technique with all the best aspects of each technique. He calls it the Burning Stardust Breathing Technique.
"This kid is amazing. I've seen his potential long before he ignited his soul fire. That may even be his least extraordinary aspect," Mylyn praised.
"If he can create breathing techniques, doesn't that make him a-"
"Yes, exactly." Mylyn smiled confidently.
"This place, is it really the Abandoned Region?" The little girl asked in disbelief.
Mylyn burst out laughing she held her stomach and fell to the ground. "Feel the Imperium in this place it's even below vlast one. If not the Abandoned Region, where else could we be?"
The little girl's shoulders dropped, and the suspicion in her eyes waned. She left out a long sigh. "How can my lady grow up in such a sterile environment? How can she ever grow? I must take her away from here."
"Wait, before you do," Mylyn spoke to stop the little girl from snatching Ari from her father's arms. "If you want to help your lady, then you will have to help him and those above. She cares most about those people and would rather die than ever abandon them for power, treasures, or otherwise."
Mylyn's eyes softened. "You were right. When I saw that kid ignite his soul fire, my intention towards him had changed. Before I was using him, he is bringing my Harpy race back from extinction and I taught him what he knows so he can properly groom them and pass on my knowledge. He told me of his ambitions of ruling this continent and I laughed it off as a frog in a well dreaming big. But now, I feel he has the potential to make a name for himself on the continent."
She looked at Ari in his lap. "Especially with her help. Especially with our help."
It was the little girl's turn to fall on the floor, laughing. "Are you telling me this child wants to rule this continent? Does he know who the ruler of this continent is? Is he intending to snatch the position from... him?" Her voice turned grave when she mentioned "Him".
"Yes," was all Mylyn replied.
The little girl stared at Mylyn for a while, as if testing whether she was lying. She then turned to look at Xasha while mumbling to herself. She then flashed Mylyn a toothy grin on her cute little face and declared.
"Count me In!"
