When she and Jay left the bathroom about 15 minutes later, Micah and Loki were gone, the bed had been changed, and there was a sandwich and a pile of sweets on her table. Mark was stood in the corner talking to another man, an older male, he looked kind of nondescript, typical, average joe type of guy. Ok looking but not about to win any contests. He had salt and pepper hair, a nose that looked like it had been broken once or twice, and a body that wouldn't look out of place in the gym despite his obvious age. As Jay sat her in the comfy chair by her bed, a 3rd man walked in. This one seemed to be in his 30’s, older than Micah and Mark for sure but much younger than the man Mark was talking too. He had dark brown hair and eyes to match, he was slim but didn't have much defined muscle. More of a scholar than a fighter perhaps. He pulled up a chair by Ashlyn, asking Jay to wait before turning his attention to Ashlyn. “Well hello Miss Faye, we have been waiting a while to meet you. I’m Dr Jenkins, everyone calls me doc or Jenkins, I don’t really mind either. If you have no objections, I need to have another look at your injuries” Ashlyn took a moment to assess him before nodding slowly. “Well that’s excellent, first I’m going to take your observations, I’m sure your familiar, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation and breathing rate” doc explained as he stood up and began his work. “Those are just perfect my dear, next I shall need to take a peek in your eyes, just look up at me, I’m going to shine my torch in your face” he waited for Ashlyn to do as he asked before he continued “thats the ticket” after scribbling a few notes in a file that was on the side he sat back down and looked at Ashlyn with a kindly smile “now the bit you may not like, I need to check your wrist and look over your torso, it may hurt a little so please bare with me and try to stay still. I’ll wear gloves and I can feel your stomach through your top but thats not an option for your wrist” doc told Ashlyn apologetically. “I understand doc, um… I think it would be best that we start with my stomach then” Ashlyn told him. Standing up on wobbling legs and lifting her shirt to the bottom of her bra, Jays, now gloved hands on her back, over her top to help steady her. The doctor looked over the scrapes which were in the final stages of healing, scabs falling off now, and the bruising, which was also much further on in their healing that would be expected even if they were still incredibly painful and looking horrific. Ashlyn avoided looking. Once she was given the ok, she pulled the top down and the doctor began to feel over her ribs and stomach. He was careful not to cause too much pain and as gentle as he could be. Even so, it caused Ashlyn a fair bit of pain, she screwed up her face and tried to hide it. Giving Ashlyn a smile before he sat back down “everything seems in order. Nothing hurt too much?” He asked as he took hold of her wrist and began to remove the splint. He asked her to perform a series of movements and then felt the joint. “Everything seems fine, keep hold of the splint and wear it if you get any pain in the next few days or week. You are clear to get yourself washed and changed if thats what you want, Loki mentioned a bath, I wouldn’t recommend a shower until you are steadier on your feet, and perhaps have your sandwich before you go” he said, giving her should a gently rub. Ashlyn only got brief flashes of the doctors memories of her when he touched her, she felt his sympathy and his desire to help her, his concern and worry when she didn’t show certain signs and his joy at being told she was awake. Ashlyn smiled her thanks and picked up her sandwich. Jay brought her bag over, Ashlyn noticed they had been left alone, though she could see Mark and the other man outside still, her and Jay were alone in the room.
Ashlyn ripped into the sandwich packet, devouring the food and downing another glass of water as Jay watched on, chuckling a little “dinner wont be long, you shouldn’t eat too much at once though, it will make you sick. It looks like Mrs Black has packed you a bag, want me to see if there are toiletries or do you want too?”
“I’ll have a look, thanks Jay” Ashlyn whispered
“Alright then hun, I’ll go run the bath, don’t try and walk on your own, give me a shout ok?” Ashlyn nodded, looking in her bag. She found a toiletry bag and set it to the side. There was a few pairs of pyjamas in the bag along with a comfy day outfit and a pair of trainers, she found a brand new pack of underwear, shorts as was her preference. Ashlyn picked a pair of Harry Potter PJs, black pants with hedwig’s on and a grey top with a Hogwarts letter, and underwear. There was a pair of slippers in there along with the first two Harry Potter books. This was a bag packed with care, by someone who hadn’t even met her, well as far as she knew, she would have to thank Mrs Black. “Hey Jay, how long have I been here?” Ashlyn called out as she opened her toiletry bag, sniffing the bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was even some bubble bath. It was all heavenly.
Jay came out of the bathroom, grinning at the small pile of clothes and the toiletries that were out on the bed “brill! I’ll take the toiletries in then come back for you. And you’ve been here about just over 2 days now” Jay bounded into the bathroom, leaving Ashlyn stunned in the seat by the bed. 2 days? Was no one looking for her? Surely someone would find her soon? Did she really want to leave? These people were treating her well and they didn’t seem to think she was crazy. They left her here with all the supplies, they gave her choices and left meds out on the table by her. They acknowledged that she felt things and learnt things about people when they touched her and just accepted it as truth. She didn't feel out of place here. And she was drawn to Micah for some reason. Did she really want to be found? Ashlyn didn’t really know right now. So instead she just let Jay help her into the bath where she stayed until the water went cold. She washed her hair herself again, not liking that someone she didn't know had done it for her while she was unconscious.
