Chapter 5: Soul Bindings

In a strange world full of weird, wonderful and mostly dangerous creatures… of course there are dragons. Though at this point, there are not many left and those that have managed to survive now keep to themselves at the peak of Mount Regterbors and around the Slpitzing Valley. Centuries ago, they were a force to be reckoned with and a total pain in the ass to all people that lived near the Northern continent. They would come and takeaway livestock and people, they would attack traveling merchants’ carts and kill their Gazellions. The Green Dragons were worse than their bigger, more powerful Red Dragon counterparts and would often break into large barns to rest and eat some Gazellions. After a long while of this harassment all the small villages banded together to make large towns and an army was formed whose sole purpose was to exterminate the dragons. The army was led by an unnamed soldier who was rumoured to be able to easily kill a dragon by themselves. One by one they went through the barren lands and the lower regions of Mount Regterbors and slayed all the dragons they could find. However, after they took care of the pesky dragons there was a new problem they had to face.

When the balance of nature is tipped towards favouring a certain species there is always something that comes to push the scales back to its even point. More often than not this would be something like a natural disaster of some sort, but this time, they had to deal with much worse than that. The 12 Dragon Gods descended from the highest peak of the mountain and began wreaking havoc on the people of the land. In an attempt to protect themselves from the Dragon Gods, the people built enormous walls around each town as another form of defence. The army and the unnamed hero spent years taking down the 12 Gods, each with their own special power, and then special weapons were made using the soul cores of the Gods. The Soul Bindings.

Giddenavya, the form changing Dragon Goddess. She could change between three forms: powerful pouncing attacks; critical striking close-range onslaught; and an impenetrable defence. She was one of the most powerful of the Dragon Gods and destroyed many towns before finally being beheaded by the unnamed hero. Her major weakness: she could only hold one form at a time. Even as the most powerful Dragon God physically, she was the youngest of them and lacked experience. As a God, why would she pay attention to a single soldier standing in front of her, if she could take out an entire town behind them in one hit? Naivety was her downfall. And thus, the form changing silver short sword Soul Binding was created.
