“Jiro, I’m sorry but this wedding isn’t happening,” He took the ring off and held it out for Jiro to take.
He felt lighter like the piece had really been weighing him down. He stood a little taller and dared to look up at the other man.
He regretted it some—the burning look of anger in Jiro’s eyes made Suzu want to back down again, but he couldn’t, not after everything.
There was a moment where everything seemed to still, silence surrounding them. Suzu was only slightly aware of people stopping to watch them.
“You know, I suggest you take that now Jiro-san. Because if it were me, I’d have thrown it already.”
Trust Saku to cause more tension by sassing off.
“Less helping, Saku, please.”
Finally, Jiro reached out and roughly plucked the ring from Suzu’s fingers.
“I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised you’d find your way back to...this.”
Jiro looked over at Saku, sneering as he looked the other over.
“Wow, rude,” Saku said, actually sounding a little offended.
“Jiro, this was never going to work. We… I couldn’t be someone that you could control, not anymore.”
Jiro scoffed but then straightened up as if refusing to damage his reputation further with whatever else Suzu could say, and turned around.
“When you realize the mistake you’ve made, don’t bother crawling back to me.”
And with that he stalked off, leaving Suzu stunned.
Had he just done that? Had he backed out of his wedding and ended a relationship while reconnecting with his first love all in one day? And he had come out relatively unscathed? Suzu suddenly felt dizzy as everything hit.
“Damn Suzu, that was...something.”
He looked down at Saku and felt a little better to see those beautiful blue eyes staring up at him in awe.
And he knew that he couldn’t take it anymore. Yes, there was going to be plenty to worry over, but right in this moment, there was only really one thing he wanted to do.
He leaned down, pressing his lips against Saku’s, kissing him softly. Somehow he was able to hold himself back from just scooping the redhead up and holding him to himself. Instead, he settled for the sweet sensation he’d been craving every moment they’d been close.
