In the old days, people had magic. The gods once disguised themselves as humans, actually, but that was just the start...
They were known to be a magical, or mana-filled people. They, on time-to-time, helped their village, taught the gifted of magic how to control it, use healing, and hunted food too, but something snapped inside one of the gods and chaos ensued, the mother of the family died, the four children were all suspected as the murderer, same with thier cousins too. The eldest was the most blamed, she is now what people call a scapegoat. Then the third child was also assassinated, of course they still accused the eldest, but now with the fact that the third child didn't get along with the second cousin well, she was accused too. The third child's twin, (the second) was felt with guilt, and sorrow, the fourth was missing and the first cousin was a well respected man, now searching for clues and answers with all his might. They all died one by one, while the fourth was declared dead.
With the second child's will, she wrote that a lucky person (every few hundred) would have a Kindred Spirit, (to honor her dead sister) a Kindred spirit is an alive human with a ghost as a friend, not to just help with things but to warn them something bad is going to happen and a ghost would help you until you die.
When a kindred spirit dies, the ghost would be there to help them in the afterlife, but if the ghost does not help then the ghost will be punished.
A few centuries pass and the story is declared a myth, no cults, no witnesses, nothing...
That was until they told people of their existence in a place now called Greece. This is where they are called Titans, Olympians, etc. The gods would've disappeared if it was told any longer. This is when Kindred Spirits grew exponentially, people talked to their ghost friends and there were more rules to things like games or sports. But of course, all good things must come to an end, so they slowly stopped believing every year. Kindred Spirits and magic were now feared by rulers. They thought they would over throw their power and rule instead, at this point, people don't know anything about what the second eldest child said in her will. They want power and that's it.
A Few centuries past again and it's still the same, but now the government are angry, vigilantes and villians with mana are now around their country, fighting ensued and now the people are starting to doubt the lies the government told them, of course that's where I come in.
Kamaria is a vigilante by the name of Artemis, odd. She talks to a ghost on a regular basis, also odd. And she- what's this? a key to the gates to the underworld? (and) having to save souls entrapped? having to save people on a daily basis? Okay, this is absolutely absurd.
In a world where the government fears any type of magic, a vigilante group by the name of 'The Greeks' have mana-filled abilities who save single 'kindred spirits' who need their 'other half' to survive. Not to mention Kamaria can't keep hiding things any longer, her brother is concerned about her coming back from school hurt, and not to mention the Presidents of the student council and newspaper club trying to find her true identity, add the fact that a recurring villain tries to recruit her on the spot and the worst part? She holds one of the keys to the afterlife. Now she wants to find why she has the key, and what else does the key hold...
At least her ghost buddy Diana isn’t related to all of this right?
