Hey! The Crossroads is participating in the #DVpit event on Twitter tomorrow! Check us out!
What's #DVpit? #DVpit is a Twitter event created to showcase pitches from unagented, marginalized voices that have been historically underrepresented in publishing. Since we're looking to get this comic published one day, we're looking for a cool agent or publishing house to help make that happen.
These are the first few sample pages of The Crossroads that are included in the pitch packet, while the complete series is still in the works.
3 queer teens uncover a dark mystery hidden within their American southern gothic town. The Crossroads explores religious oppression, found family, and learning that sometimes you have to save yourself first.
The first installment, The Crossroads: Midwinter Mystery, is a story that focuses on Amethyst, a witchy outcast whose brother disappears mysteriously on Midwinter’s Eve. As she searches for answers, she becomes reluctant friends with two queer boys, Mali and Eli, who may or may not be in a relationship, depending on who you ask. Under the eye of their church-assigned mentor, they unearth clues that lead to more questions than answers about the dusty southern gothic town of Bauxton.
The Crossroads is a trial webcomic series covering topics like growing up bi-racial, discovering yourself, finding your place in your community, and finding the role that religion plays in your life. The Crossroads was written by Shane M. Young and illustrated by Jonah Leahy.Read more
