“I’ll never allow anyone to break our family again, saasu ma!” Sarala hugged her mother-in-law, and tears of joy rolled on her cheeks.
“I know bahu! You’re not just a daughter-in-law but like a daughter to me.” Saavitri said with emotion while caressing Sarala.
“All's well that ends well, right?” Sarala’s husband Raj chuckled and the family members laughed together.
A pleasant background music began and a woman appeared on the TV screen. She joined her hands and smiled.
“Namaste, I’m Shakta Kapoor, director of this ‘Ek Kahani Saas Bahu Ki’ tele-serial. This 1300th episode was the last one of this tele-serial. I would like to thank our viewers who showered their love and support on us for the last five years. We are very glad that our serial entertained you beyond our expectations. Unfortunately, we have to bid you all adieu now. But do not worry. We will hit your screens with another tele-serial soon. Till then, Goodbye.”
The serial ended with credits. The quiet room suddenly filled with ‘wow’s and ‘ooh’s. Members of the family discussing the characters of that serial.
“Hmm! Finally this serial ended,eh?” An authoritative female voice was heard. Everyone went numb for a second, then turned towards the empty easy chair. That easy chair was smoothly rocking. They had almost forgotten her.
“I thought I’d never be able to leave this place. Wretches! I had to stay here for 3 more years as a ghost. Thank you Lord Krishna. Now I can attain Moksha.” The easy chair stopped rocking for a few seconds, then started again.
“My dear children, sorry to scare you all this time. Do not worry. Now I can leave in peace. My blessings will always be with you. Jai Shrikrishna!”
The chair stopped rocking, and the room went silent. Then suddenly a gust of wind blew out through a window. The family sat silently with mixed emotions.
