Arty immerged from the waters of the lake to see a different world. The colors here were brighter more vibrant, the air clean an untouched by polution. Arty looked over to Merl who was beside him, even the old man looked different. It was as if a blinder had been removed from his eyes and he had seen the world for the first time. Merlin looked as though his beard had grown but his features weren't so old anymore. His normally gray eyes had turned blue and his arched back was now straightened. Merlin drew a deep breath, "It's strange your first time." he spoke as he turned toward Arty. "The types of wards they use to keep you blind out there are strong, difficult to hold off even for me." The Old man sat upon an old drift wood Log that had washed up on the beach. "They cannot come here Arty, atleast not yet. Sit so i may explain some things." Merlin patted the log and Arty sat.
Merlin sighed as he began. "Once our world, this world, saught peace with the world out there. We thought that if we showed you our ways that we could help, instead they used what power we gave to enslave those of lesser fortune." Merlin looked out upon the waters. "What power did you give them Merlin?" Arty asked. Merlins bushy brow slanted into a frown. "I gave them the power of Magic. In a time before time was a thing I had witnessed the divide. A great and powerful dark wizard had given himself to the powers of the abyss, myself to the powers of the stars. I had tried to stop him but none the less i failed. He used his dark power to separate the world dividing its creatures and peoples to a point where we even lived on separate plains of existance. Between there and here is a thin wall I've called The Veil. On this side there is magic and mysticism and on that, well Arty i think you know what kind of world that is." Merlin sighed again but continued his tale after a quick breather. "I called this world Aetheria, the place magic calls home, and your world Earth where the Physical is all there is. The Dark Wizard had fled to your world as the spell he used to divide us had weakened him. Your father and I led a strike against him, through time he spread his rule but the longer he stayed the stronger he became. You see it seemed that on Earth we were God's among men. It seems the power of humans is faith, the more they prayed the more power he gained. He offered his power to those who were most loyal to him in exchange for awful deeds. No price was to high for Godhood in the eyes of a man." Tears had began to well up in Merlins eyes. "Inquisitions, Crusades, Wars, all fought for the sake of power. I had taught this man all he knew only to see him fall to corruption, and he pulled so many others with him. That's when i forged the swords. Colbrande ,sometimes known as Caliburn, the sword of the Sun and Excalubur the Sword of the Moon and Stars. Together these swords would be able to carve a path to save us."
Arty frowned and laughed a bit. "Wait so you're trying to tell me Magic is real, You are THE MERLIN, and you forged the sword Excalibur?" He quickly realized that Merlin was not laughing. "Your father could only wield one sword." The Old Man continued ignoring Artys outburst. "In the end, as i said before, we failed. The Dark Wizard had enslaved men to his will and established himself as an all ruling God. I fled back here but your father stayed, for he had found your mother. Only human yet she had the heart of lion. When your father was captured she ran, a brave woman she was to have held her secret so long." Arty was confused for certain now. "Once your Father was gone his magics wore off, your mothers abnormally long life had caught up to her not in the form of Age but of Cancer. You see Arty she had been our Queen since the early 1400's and she had known that if she didnt get you away you would die. She had witnessed the Men in Black come to take your father, narrowly escaping herself. She risked her life for all of this Arty, You aren't just some boy. In this world and to some out in that one you are the Son of Igraine and Uther, you are Athur Pendragon, He who was chosen to free Earth from the wrath of God himself."
