Those who managed to survive being close to one of those monsters only remembered that mark on their face and those bright red eyes that looked at them even more ferociously. People soon realized that people bitten by that “monster” came back to life. Thirsty for blood too and killing every person in their path.
His thirst was uncontrollable, at night all the people closed their houses. Fear and desolation had taken over all the people in the small towns. No one wanted to leave home at night. The relatives of those who had been bitten by those monsters prayed not to see them transformed into one of them.
People began to call him “vampire”.
After finally understanding who he was after many years and who he had been, he got rid of his human name, that name that had haunted him in those memories of a life he once had and changed it to “Darklion Black”.
His army began to grow with leaps and bounds. He trained the neophytes to fight, to be coherent and to control their thirst. No one ever saw him again, they said that being in front of his precession was either an honor or a curse, his presence alone was malevolent and made all those who were in front of him or even close to him feel that desolation and that they would never be the same again.
Years passed since the vampire army appeared, Darklion was seen a few times by humans. At the time of the existence of vampires, humans began to look for a way to defend themselves, many parents and children needed to protect their homes and families. No one found a way to kill vampires yet. But they began to fight them.
Darklion had a few closer vampires; they were the only ones who were in direct communication with the king, and it was an incredible revelation when they learned that their closest commanders had special abilities and one was much stronger than the other, but all unique.
King Alessandro, who was the ruler of all England and my father, was the king of the northern area of England. Lincoln, Norwich, Cambridge, Barnsley, Sheffield and Chelmsford were under his rule. So, he needed to do something to protect his people, so he started training more soldiers. It was a ferocious training, cruel even. But it was all so he could fight the vampires.
The Van Helsing family were some of the king's strongest soldiers. They became my father's royal defense. They were exceptionally good at fighting and had somehow managed to seriously injure many vampires. But without being able to kill them.
They were the only soldiers who had been able to get beyond the lands dominated by vampires, Lestat was the first son of Lieutenant Van Helsing. They came from Great Britain, where rumors of the first Vampires had begun.
One of the most incredible battles that the royal guard had with the vampire army was that Lieutenant Van Helsing was the only one who fought against Darklion Black himself in person. A face to face, hand to hand battle; Lieutenant Van Helsing used a sword dipped in holy water made of silver, it was believed that silver could weaken vampires.
Darklion was stronger and faster than him. Lieutenant Van Helsing could see Darklion's mark on his left eye, it was like a scar that stretched across his left eye from his forehead to his chin. Those bright red eyes looked at him fiercely, with such an evil expression and fangs sticking out from under his lips, long white fangs.
After Lieutenant Van Helsing died at the hands of Darklion, his son Lestat Van Helsing followed his father's legacy. He soon became a lieutenant in the king's royal guard. He had become very cunning, and under his command the king's soldiers were able to get close enough to Darklion Black's castle. Lestat was leading that mission; they were in search of the dark palace and somehow they were close to finding a way to kill the vampires. They had noticed that his chest was always well protected by them, so that must be where his weak point was.
According to what the soldiers in the infirmary said, those who had managed to return from a battle against these vampires said that the vampires were particularly beautiful, both men and women. Shiny hair, red lips, and skin as pale as snow. Their speech was like that of a human, but they had a strange accent when they spoke, it was so noticeable.
When they are not transformed, their fangs do not protrude. But as they change shape, their fangs grow longer, and human expression becomes more ferocious. The color of their eye’s changes to a bright red and they become very aggressive, violent. They are fast and have superhuman strength; some of them even have special abilities; the commanders closest to Darklion can read minds; he is one of the most powerful vampires we have encountered among them all.
Darklion had not shown his great power for a long time, since he created his kingdom and turned humans into vampires, he was not seen in battle again. The only thing we know about him is that he is one of the most beautiful vampires on earth, and his diabolical mark.
Lestat managed to get close enough to see his face. He was so close to the dark castle in one of the battles, but he could not enter it, Lestat was the one who discovered the power of Marious, Darklion's closest lieutenant. He managed to get out alive, but when he retreated he was cursed by Darklion himself.
Lestat heard Darklion's voice in his head, as he fled from the dark castle, this monster spoke ancient Romanian. That language that had been lost thousands of years ago; it was a curse directed at him to finish him off little by little.
They managed to reach the nearest base and there he lost consciousness; he was hallucinating. The soldiers took him away, and they returned to my father's castle.
I was born with an ability; I can heal sick people. No one knew how I inherited such an ability, neither of my parents had any special ability. My father, the King, took care of me, his protection was so cautious that he kept me locked in the castle since I was little.
I was trained by the castle wizard; he taught me how to heal wounds made with any kind of weapon. Master Gandhy was close to me; he taught me more things without my father's consent. It was a secret between us. He knew that I would be able to do many more things with my "magic" as they call it.
That afternoon I was training with Master Gandhy, we were treating a wound caused by an arrow of one of the patients in the castle infirmary; Lestat and the royal soldiers returned from that confrontation. He was seriously injured, he was almost dying you could say, they took him to the castle to one of the royal guard's infirmaries, which was better equipped.
My father called me; He wanted me to go and look for Lestat's wound.
- What happened, father?
- They returned from the North, Lestat's command. But he was cursed by a vampire, Irhin.
I was shocked to hear my father the king, tell me that Lestat had been cursed by a vampire.
- You must save him Irhin! He is in that room; they told me that I cannot enter; that is why I have called you and Master Gandhy.
I turned in front of the door, entered it and there were nurses, doctors and Master Gandhy. I took a few more steps and when they noticed my presence they stepped aside, I approached Lestat; there I felt that dark aura around him; I began to feel dizzy, even though I continued walking and got closer to him, blood was flowing from his wound, but it was black. I placed my hand on the horrible wound on his arm, and I saw him for the first time.
My eyes met those hazel eyes, fierce and thirsty. I opened my eyes with the same astonishment, he turned around and was surprised to feel my presence and see me in front of him. He parted his lips, his red and full lips showed his fierce fangs very subtly, but nothing came out of his mouth. I took a step back; his aura was affecting me in a certain way.
His eyes changed from calm to fierce, to a red color; I lifted my hand from Lestat's arm immediately upon noticing his eyes on me. I knew it, he had been able to see me too; I took two steps back, and then, I fainted.
My father stopped me before I fell to the ground, the soldiers placed me on a stretcher near Lestat and took me out of the room. I don't know how long I was unconscious, but when I opened my eyes, I still saw the clamor and commotion of the other doctors coming out and running down the hall, I fainted once again.
I woke up, I was in my room. I still felt those red eyes on me, I couldn't get them out of my head. I got out of bed and put my robe over my shoulders. My father came into the room.
- Are you okay, Irhin?
- Yes, dad.
- What happened to you?
- I don't know, everything was strange, dad. I just felt dizzy since I entered the room.
- Master Gandhy and the other sorcerers tended to Lestat's wound, but they said that the only one who can save him is you. That vampire curse is going to take Lestat's life. His arm is changing color and now reaches his shoulder.
- What?
My father paused and before he could say anything I spoke to him.
- Take me to him.
They treated the wound in Lestat's arm, but the curse would take his life. His arm was turning black, and he had a very high fever; I understood what I had to do. At that moment I was the only one who could save him.
I felt nervous, it hadn't been long since that dark aura and those dangerous red eyes had surrounded me.
- Daughter, are you okay?
- Yes, it's just that... his curse is very powerful.
- What do you mean?
- I'm not sure I can save his arm or his dad, I can see the dark aura around him.
- Irhin, I haven't seen you worry before, especially something related to your magic.
I opened the door, and I could see that dark aura again. I stepped back a little, behind me was my father the king, and other soldiers. I took some courage and approached Lestat again. I knew through Master Gandy some of the ancient Romanian languages. I already knew what incantation I might need to recite to remove the curse from his arm.
I put my hand on Lestat's wound again, and there he was in front of me again, those red eyes looking directly into mine, that fierceness; I didn't blink for a single moment and kept my gaze on those beautiful eyes as best I could. I recited the incantation and kept my eyes on him. I finished the spell and without breaking eye contact, right at that moment he smiled at me and then simply disappeared.
I was still holding Lestat's wounded arm, which was already beginning to regain its color. I kept his fierce gaze in my mind, his smile was also engraved in me. I must keep that memory in my mind, that was my first thought; his face was very beautiful, Skin as pale as snow, His long hair falling over his shoulders reaching his chest and not forgetting that white color... the memory of his red lips holding that subtle smile.
That image was so hard to get out of my mind. Something had caught me, that male figure watching me from the darkness; the blurry image of his body standing in front of me and that mysterious smile.
I removed my hand from Lestat's arm, turned around and left the room.
Something had changed in me, I knew that. That man was someone powerful, I could tell. How was it possible that the curse on Lestat's arm had the presence of a person in it? The only thought I remember now was his gaze on me; It was something that had made me nervous, but not the kind of nervousness that makes you afraid, it was that I wasn't scared at all. The first time we met, the expression on that man's face was as if he was surprised... And then, the second time it was different, suspicious.
