When this comic gets a printed version someday, the picture of the mountains will be a gorgeous double page spread.
I wanted the Mountain of Smoo to have a distinct look from Pem’s home, the Seven Mountains, which is more of a classic European medieval fantasy setting. I ended up looking at lots of pictures of French and Italian towns. It’s also inspired by places I’ve visited in the UK, like the cute heritage village of Clovelly, and the surreal tourist village of Portmeirion in Wales.
