The cliff notes of the fishing trip seem quite horrific...but perhaps George pushing Jonathan out of a window was a bit of an overreaction? I wonder if he survived...I guess we'll see in the next episode!
Some of the language used here may require a bit of explanation:
You'll notice here that George uses expletives relating to floods and quakes, short for earthquakes. These terms became quite common after the earthquake and following floods that devasted the earth before the creation of Trio. However, it is considered rather rude to say these phrases in Trio today; George doesn't particularly care.
You may also not have heard of duradoses, loosely translated from Latin to English to mean "hard backs". They are a smaller fish that swims the Trio waters, evolved to put up with quite a bit of damage. Most of the creatures that exist in Trio are very different from the fauna in the world before the Great Flood, like the alesfurs found in the first couple of episodes (loosely translated to "winged thief", they are the dragon-like reptiles walking around), and the fiori (translated to "flower") mentioned in episode 3. We'll see and learn more about these animals as the series progresses!
After a catastrophic earthquake devastated the world, only those who could adapt survived. Those who could outrun the disaster and use what resources they could scavenge from the surface became the tall, dark Magnos. Those who fled from the disaster by hiding underground became the small, fair Parvish. And those who outsmarted the disaster, building great feats of engineering to shield themselves from the calamity, became the more-or-less average Medians.
In the aftermath, three countries were created from three islands that used to be one: Magno, Parvum, and Medius. The islands together were called Trio. The Medians built bridges to connect the people together, but much still keeps them apart. Differences are hard to overcome, even within a simple Median family like Ellie Sweet's. But that doesn't mean they are insurmountable. After all, the Sweet-McGee family has made it this far without killing each other. Maybe there's hope for the land of Trio after all.
