Long ago, thousands of years ago, after the extinction of dinosaurs and before the arrival of the first men, there were only God and a man as miserable as the land in which he lived. His outfit, a long Mouse grey cape with a hood, prevented the divine man in the clouds from seeing his face.
One day, the hooded man ventured outside of his lands. He discovered a world full of colors. A dazzling white light stared at him high in the sky. He continued on his way with a hesitant step. When he had arrived in a big clearing surrounded with trees, a tall man appeared right in front of him. The latter was of a great age. He was dressed in a long white robe. He also had a grey beard which reached to the ground and long hair that reached the middle of his back. The man in the grey cape was suprised to see such a different man from him appear. It seemed to him that this man shone like this strange thing which was in the sky, preventing him from seeing.
Suddenly, the stretch of blue which was evolving above the two men darkened, turning grey-black, and the wind began to blow. The wise old man, in the white robe, spoke with a husky and clear voice, making a red-orange flame appear between them on a small pale white tube:
"My dear friend, I have seen through the clouds of the eternal where you live. Therefore, because I have a very big heart and a lot of generosity to give, may you accept this light to guide your path!"
"Why should I?" The man in the grey hooded cape asked in a whisper, a voice as low as that of Death.
"Because you, my dear friend, who live in constant darkness and the misery of your poor life, may you see a little clarity in your thoughts."
"What would happen if I took your magic thing?"
"A clearer vision. A better life. But above all, it will bring you the help you have been looking for for a long time. Plus, a new candle, as we name this magic thing as you say, will appear everytime you will be in the doldrums. However, if you have the audacity and bravery to extinguish this flame, then the darkness will take a little more over your already bruised soul."
"Is that worth the price of what you are saying?"
"Of course, my dear friend!"
The man in grey did not know what to think of the wise old man's pretty words. He was scared it was all a lie. Yet, very deep within him, a small voice was telling him to take this good filled with magic.
"Alright. I take your present."
"That is a really good decision you make, my dear friend."
The wise old man took the candle and handed it to the man in grey. The latter took this strange thing carefully. The man in grey turned around and walked away. As soon as he arrived to the border of the forest, the voice of the wise old man near his right ear resounded:
"Do not forget, if you make the mistake to extinguish the candle flame, your soul will be lost forever in the depths of the Hell's black sea."
The man in grey nodded as much for himself as to confirm that he had understood the wise old man.
After this encounter, the man in grey began his journey through this big land. He traveled miles and miles before returning to where he lived. During his journey, he discovered thousands of different landscapes from each other. With each new landscape, a new candle appeared by his side, swirling on itself. However, the man in grey did not understand why those candles had appeared. He had followed the wise old man's will to the letter, he had not been in the doldrums. So why the candles kept appearing? Moreover, he did not see a better life on the horizon or a vision like that of a falcon. It was in a heavy sadness and full of melancholy that he went back home.
The man in grey hung on the wise old man's every word like the most delicious water he had ever drunk. He had believed in those very pretty words. Now, back home, since his return, he had decided to extinguish the flames of each candle. Every single day, he extinguished a new one before falling asleep. Every single day, he came back to life a little more. Every single day, he felt his heart, his soul, his body, his mind getting better.
Today, thirty days after his return, only one candle was still lit. The one that had been with him since the beginning of this adventure. The one that had lasted the longest without ever burning completely. In his land filled with darkness, the first candle lit the waxy face of the man in grey. He sat in front of this beautiful thing, that he had thought be a brand new start, a divine luck. He was deep in thoughts. He thought that he did not really want to blow out this last candle. That if he did it, perhaps that the wise old man's words would be true. That only this candle was filled with magic. But on the other hand, he had to extinguish it. Blow on the last burden. Blow on the last touch of darkness of this world. Forever extinguish the darkness of a crazy and playful magician. He thought that if he did it, the melancholy which had left his body would come back once the action made. He was scared of finding himself again in the dark after spending days in the light. He was scared of being alone again with himself. But the small voice that encouraged him to take this toxic present from the wise old man came back. This time, it reassured him about his doubts. It told him that it encouraged him to take this candle to show him which way he had to take. That it was not the candle that was going to do it for him, but himself who was going to take the decision by looking at this flame. That this thing was just an assistance and not an assistance that will help him. This small voice reassured him about what he should do. That the light was to be feared because its beauty was so bright and magnificent that it blinded our fairest, purest and best choices. And that our darkness were not something bad, like the wise old man had assured, but much more good than the man in grey thought. Darkness were not a source of misfortune, fear or mercy, but a light hidden by the fear of words, acts. The small voice reassured him until he finally has the answer in mind.
The man in grey got closer to the candle, he closed his eyes, then he blew on the last flame, on the last candle and he said out loud:
"I am not afraid of being in the dark when I know that it is a hidden light which raises me up. I am not afraid of the light if this one is friendly and clear. I am afraid of darkness or brightness when those are the evil ones."
As his last words were pronounced, a smile appeared on the man's lips, who for the first time removed his hood, discovering a young man in his twenties.
The young man will live a happy life until his last day on Earth. He will also create a people in his image. Whom will create generations more evolved than the others.
This young man was named: the flame blower.
