He looked towards the teenager, who cuddled up with Seonghwa on the couch.
He had picked her up from the roadside when she was a baby, while walking home with Seonghwa.
The man walked out of the kitchen, taking the seat next to Heejin. Seonghwa carefully place Heejin's head on Hongjoong's shoulder, getting up to the toilet.
Heejin. Kim Heejin.
A beautiful girl with gorgeous hazel hair and dark chocolate orbs.
Seonghwa named her. She took Hongjoong's surname.
It's been seventeen years since they found her.
The television played on. He felt the girl stirred, and smiled softly.
"...Oppa? " Heejin muttered sleepily, moving closer towards Hongjoong.
"Here. " Hongjoong put a pillow on his lap, and Heejin laid her head on it. She stretched comfortably, as Hongjoong stroke her hair.
When Seonghwa came out of the toilet, Heejin had fell asleep once more. He took the armchair next to Hongjoong, frowning.
"Yunho-ah and maknae is taking too long. "
"They only went out to buy dinner. "
Seonghwa rubbed his temples. "The last time the pair of them came back, they killed two people and Heejin-ah almost saw it. "
Hongjoong glance at Heejin quickly, and visibly sigh in relief when he saw that she's asleep. "Don't talk about that here. "
Someone walked down from the stairs. Wooyoung, with a sleeping mask, walked straight to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator.
"Who took my chocolate from the fridge? " He yelled, slamming the refrigerator door in anger. Heejin woke up almost immediately, and the two men near her scowled at Wooyoung.
"Must be San. " Seonghwa said, as Heejin yawned, rubbing her eyes and looking confused.
"Choi San! " Wooyoung scowled, stomping out of the kitchen and up the stairs. They hear him yell, banging on San's door.
"What happened? " Heejin asked, and Hongjoong couldn't help but pinch her cheek.
"Don't worry, it's your Wooyoung oppa being dramatic as usual. "
Seonghwa snorted, as Heejin nodded cutely.
The front door clicked. Heejin's eyes lit up, and ran over to the door. "Oppa! "
"Slowly, Heejin-ah! " Jongho caught Heejin with his free hand, the other griping three bags of groceries. Behind him, Yunho closed the door with his pinkie, trying the balance the pizza takeout and more groceries in his hand.
"Let me take it! " Heejin said excitedly, taking the pizza from Yunho and ran to the kitchen. Hongjoong watched her, while Seonghwa lowered his voice.
"What took you two so long? " He muttered, taking the bags from Jongho. Jongho's eyes flickered towards the kitchen.
"We saw someone on the way. " He tore his eyes away from the busy figure of Heejin and his gaze met Hongjoong's. The older raised a brow, showing that he understood the younger.
"Is it resolved? " He asked. Yunho grinned in reply, showing the dirt in his fingernails. "Behind the park. Usual place. "
"Wash your hands. " A creased appeared between Seonghwa's brow. Yunho dumped the rest of the groceries in Hongjoong's hand and make his way to the toilet. Jongho followed after him, as Yeosang walked down the stairs with a pillow neck.
"I smell pizza. " He said lazily, walking to the kitchen along with Seonghwa and Hongjoong. As Seonghwa refilled the cupboards with snacks and Hongjoong restocked the refrigerator, Yeosang start to lay the table.
"...this one's for Mingi oppa... This one's for Yeosang oppa... " Hongjoong hear her talk to herself, and chuckled.
How can Heejin be so cute?
"I don't want the one with vegetables! " Someone yelled. San, with Wooyoung hot on his heels, rushed into the kitchen. He arrived just in time to see Heejin pick off the olives on the pizza meant for him and slumped against the table. "I love you, piglet. "
"I love you too, San oppa. " Heejin put the plate aside. Wooyoung rolled his eyes and peered over Hongjoong's shoulder. "Is there chocolate? "
"You'll get diabetes on this rate. " Yeosang commented, as Heejin exited the kitchen to put the pizza. San follow her, but Wooyoung grabbed his hand. "You're staying here. " He hissed, turning to Seonghwa. "Hyung, he took the whole box of chocolates that was labelled with my nam-"
"I didn't see it-"
"I wrote it bigger this time, you dickhead-"
"I still didn't see it-"
"That chocolate is an expensive brand, and it's hundred percent dark chocolate, and you ate it-"
"I already apologized upstairs-"
"Alright you two. Stop it. " Seonghwa commanded, folding the empty plastic bags. Yeosang entered the kitchen, grinning.
"I side Wooyoungie on this. "
"See? " Wooyoung said, glaring at San.
San muttered obscenities under his breath, but shut his mouth when he saw Heejin walking in.
Hongjoong shake his head with a exasperated face. "You tw- never mind. "
"We bought new chocolates, including the brand you like, Wooyoung hyung. " Jongho said from the dining table.
"Case closed. Chop chop! " Yunho clapped his hands, and Heejin laughed. Wooyoung threw his mask away, and they sat at the dining table, where Seonghwa and Jongho was already waiting.
"Where's Mingi? " Hongjoong asked, the seat beside Heejin was empty.
"Hiatus. " San replied. Heejin frowned.
"Mingi oppa was alright when I left him. " She said worriedly. On her left, Yunho patted her head.
"Don't worry about Mingi. He'll be fine. "
They started to eat. In the middle of the course, Mingi walked down, wearing a blank look.
The table went silent. Mingi pulled the chair over and sat on it, starting in his pizza quietly. He ate fast, and after putting his plate in the dishwater and washing his hands, he went back upstairs.
The eight people in the dining room exchanged looks. Then Heejin put her cup of water down.
"San oppa, can I sleep in Mingi oppa's room tonight instead? " She asked. San looked towards Hongjoong.
From young, each of the members would sleep with Heejin, as she was too scared to sleep alone. This habit continued, and even though Heejin was already seventeen, she wants company when she's sleeping.
Today is the seventh of September, and San's turn to accompany Heejin. Hongjoong nodded slightly, and San agreed.
"Right. But you're sleeping with me tomorrow. " San said unhappily. Heejin smiled, her eyes shining.
