Jason was hungry. He tried so hard to hide how hungry he was. Now the hunger was eating at him. He was still walking back. He heard twigs snapping, but thought nothing of it.
Rose ran up behind him and forced him into a huge hug. “Hi mopey,” she greeted him with another nickname. He forced a convincing smile onto his face.
“Hello Rose,” he greeted back. She let go and turned to face him.
“Do you think I look pretty today?” She asked. Her eyes were sparkling - again, he thought nothing of it.
“You look like you did earlier - when you asked me.” He could smell the tiniest bit of blood, his nose was stronger than the others. Rose looked a little offended at his comment. After a beat of silence, he spoke again, “Did Tenny say the next full moon was in two days?”
“...Yeah. Did you forget,” Her voice was so quiet now.
“...Maybe. I wasn’t really paying attention to what she was saying.” Jason was ignoring the scent of blood that hung in the air.
“Did you smell blood back there? Or was it just me, I thought since you have such a great nose, you…” She trailed off, Jason knew what she was going to ask.
“........I smelt it,” was all he said before he buried away.
