I heard a knock on my bed room door. When I opened the door, it was mille saying that a friend of mine was in the hall. I walked past her to see who it was. Eva was sitting on the same sofa on which mille was sitting while I entered the house. When Eva looked at me, she ran towards me and hugged me with a shrill she announced that she wanted to know all the juicy details of my last night’s rendezvous.
Mille who was watching all our chitter-chatter silently, asked us how about we order some take-out? Which Eva declined saying that she bought some snacks along with her and said that she wanted to see my room, so I took her to my room.
When I closed the door, Eva said, oh my god, I didn’t know your roommate was Milan. Did she do anything weird to you?
What do you mean?
Oh! You don’t know right there is a rumour at the university that Milan does it only with girls.
Huh... I didn’t understand.
It was said she only dates girls, she never dated any guy from college, and there is even a rumour that Rebecca is her girlfriend. They have been seen kissing each other by someone. They are scary, don’t you think so. She didn’t do anything to you, right?
No, I muttered.
Then the thing I’m here for…
Wait! How did you know my address?
Actually, Tyler called me and asked a favour. He said you were not in good shape when you left his house you see he’s worried about you and asked me to check on you. He’s such a sweet boy, I wish my boyfriend were as attentive as him.
But!
But What?
You see, about mille her dating girls, did she say in her own words that she only dates girls or that she’s into girls?
What? That’s ridiculous why she would do such a thing?
No, I’m just...
Eva kept quietly staring at me as if she was waiting for my next words. I sighed and sat down on the chair for I felt that if I don’t sit down now, she would see my legs shaking.
I continued, If she hasn’t said anything regarding it, who are we to assume? I believe that a person’s dating life is a private thing, and we shouldn’t spread such rumours as we please, and also, I feel like we are taking away her chance to come out as only she can do that to whomsoever she chose to share this with.
Eva was quiet. It scared me that she would stop talking to me or being my friend because of what I just said.
I started, I’m sorry for saying all that, it’s not my business anyway.
Nah! I think you’re right, I was too hasty, I didn’t think about people involved in this. They must have a hard time because of the rumour whether it’s true or not. (Eva)
Yeah, people are always quick to judge, I guess. They always make a comment on every passing thing.
Yeah, sure they do. I will not talk about this with anyone anymore in a way that will help I think.
Yeah, it does count. (Dee)
Okay, now give me all the details of last night, so you finally popped your cherry, we should party. Oh, I have beer with me, what say?
I declined Eva’s offer remembering the pain of hangover. I’m really thankful that Tyler asked Eva to check on me. She is really an amazing and caring friend. I somehow got lucky by having her as a friend.
We enjoyed the rest of the day watching FRIENDS show while having the snacks Eva bought.
Even though Eva was protesting, I did not tell her what happened last night, how can I? I was so embarrassed because of how I got drunk and jumped on Tyler.
