Levi carried Jason all the way to their cave. It had a hidden entrance, when walking in, you walked for a while. At the end of the makeshift hallway was a huge room. In the middle was a small island filled to the brim with trees. Separating the island from the cave floor was a stream that had been there forever. It had clear, fresh, and cold water, they ofter drank from it. In the corner was a huge house, made of stone. The house could fit about half of them comfortably. They could all fit in there, it would just be cramped.
The other wolves didn’t follow Levi into the building. Levi set Jason down on the bad in the extra room. He was really pale. Levi went out to where the wolves were. The full moon was better for Levi in the cave. “Go out and hunt. Bring back the creature or collect the blood,” Levi spoke firmly. The wolves all turned around and bolted out to hunt, one stayed behind. Lily. She had a lighter coat - silver. And her light green eyes glowed playfully. She turned into her human form. She had a gray shirt on and black jeans. Her outfit highlighted her long, blonde, curly hair. Her light green eyes still glowed playfully. “What are you doing here Lily?”
“I thought, maybe, I could watch after the vampire,” Lily suggested. “I’ve always wanted a friend that’s a vampire!” Lily practically squealed on the last part.
“Fine. He’s in the second bedroom. The others should be back with blood in a bit. I’m going to head out and try and get some fast stuff. I have a feeling we’ll need a lot.” Levi turned around and ran out of the cave.
Levi walked upstairs to the second bedroom. When he opened the door he saw a very concerned-looking Lily and a whimpering vampire.
“How is he?” Levi questioned. Lily was sitting in a chair next to Jason.
“Not good. His temperature has been up and down over the last hour. I put the cold water on a towel to cool him off. When he got cold I put the blanket over him and I heated up my hands and put them on his forehead. Over the last hour, his temperature has gone up and down 13 times.” Lily looked worried, her eyes were wide and a dull green.
Levi looked over at Jason. His skin was a lot paler than normal and his hair was not the usual midnight black - it looked more of a very deep brown. Levi stared at his hair a little, it was turning lighter. “Lily, is his hair turning lighter?”
Lily looked at Jason’s hair a little. She screamed and jumped. “His-his hair is changing color!”
“I think it’s turning to his natural color. Lily, when he wakes up, tell me the color of his eyes. Here, I have the blood.” Levi handed over the mug of animal blood. Lily took the blood with slightly shaking hands. She gave Levi a slight smile in thanks. She grabbed a straw out of nowhere, put it in the cup, tilted Jason’s head up, and started feeding him.
Tenny was gardening, it helped her relax. She was chatting with Morgan, just enjoying the cold draft in the cave. “It’s been three days, do you think the vampire will wake up?”
“Calm down Tenny! I’m sure he’ll be fine.” Morgan was great at reassuring Tenny.
Lily sat feeding Jason again. Over the past three days, Lily learned a lot of interesting things. Jason did breathe. His heart also beat, just very slowly. Over the past three days, his hair got a lot lighter too, like unnatural vampire light. Lily and Levi were the only ones who saw him, so they’re keeping it secret. Levi had a theory that since he hadn’t had blood in a long time, he was turning human. The theory made sense to Lily, except, she was feeding him blood. That part stumped them both.
Lily concentrated on feeding Jason again, she got too lost in thoughts for a moment. Lily saw as Jason took a big breath and sat up so fast a human would get whiplash. He started coughing, he stopped when he saw Lily staring at him. He jumped up and faster than Lily could see, he was trying to leave. “Wait!” Lily called out to him. Levi said that if this happened, Jason was extremely nice and would stop and listen. To Lily’s surprise, he stopped.
“What?” His throat sounded rough. He saw the blood in the cup, that Lily had set on the bedside table.
“Here.” Lily handed him the cup, “my name is Lily. I was taking care of you.” In her excitement, she forgot. She whipped her eyes up to look into Jason’s. They weren’t red. They were green. Bright green. Lily took in such a sharp and fast that she started coughing too. She recovered and stared into, red eyes. His eyes had turned back to a beautiful crimson red color.
“Are you okay?” He asked quickly.
“Fine. How’s the blood,” Lily had to act composed in front of him, or he would leave.
“Good. Thank you. I’m sorry, but I have to go,” he said handing the cup back to her. His hand was on the closed door handle.
“You don’t know your way out,” Lily had to keep him here.
“I’ll find a way.”
“I don’t know. It’s extremely confusing.” He frowned.
“I’m great with directions. I have a better nose than the other vampires.”
“But...there’s a bunch of werewolves down there. They’ll attack you. You’re not at full strength.” Lily knew she had won.
“Fine, I’ll stay. I know Levi’s pact is nice, but I didn’t think you were this nice,” Jason said as he sat back on the bed. Lily then remembered. Wow, Lily, you must have memory problems, she thought to herself.
“Yeah, we’re really nice. Here,” she had crabbed another cup full of blood, she had her hand outstretched to Jason, “more blood. You want to get your strength back up. I will be right back, stay here.”
“I want to come,” He said so firmly, it shocked her a little.
“Okay, don’t blame me if you get stared at,” she started toward the door.
They walked outside, Jason sipping on the blood. His eyes were becoming a bright crimson red. Lily thought it was strange, his hair, which was getting close to an almost dirty blond, was now midnight black. Outside Tenny and Morgan were talking while gardening.
“Hi, Tenny. Do you know where Levi is?” Lily asked, she had no idea where the alpha was. The second best option was asking random werewolves.
“No, I don’t know where he went. Is that the vampire?” Tenny, typical.
“Tenny. We’ve met before. To refresh your memory, I’m Jason,” Jason had politeness laced with minor sass. He is so nice.
“Yeah. You called me my mates name,” Tenny angrily said.
“I then fixed it… If it means anything, I am sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. Thank you for the blood too.” Jason was still sipping at his cup. He sounded very sincere.
“It’s fine and your welcome,” Tenny grumbled.
Jason heard up something before pointing to the trees on the island. “Levi is over there, I can hear him.” Lily had to do a double-take, before, she too, saw Levi.
“Jason, your hearing is amazing. Thanks, let’s go,” Lily took Jason’s hand and dragged him over to Levi. As they got closer Lily shouted, “Levi.” They were closer enough that the closeted heads turned, rolled their eyes, then looked away. Lily whispered to Jason, “When we get closer to Levi, please make sure nobody is listening.” Jason nodded in response. There was still blood in his cup.
“Levi, Jason woke up.” Lily moved so Levi could see Jason. They were on the tree island. You’d be surprised, the stream blocked out most noise.
“Okay. How is he?” Levi didn’t address Jason.
“I’m fine, thank you. How are you?” Jason asked out of pure politeness. He mentally scolded himself for acting like this.
“Fine. Lily, what color were his eyes?” Levi went back to acting like Jason didn’t exist.
“Umm, they were bright green,” Lily said softly. She knew Jason and Levi heard her. Their eyes both went wide.
“I’m sorry. My eyes are red, not green,” Jason said. His voice held multiple emotions - shock, confusion, anger, and sadness?
“How do you explain your hair turning blond?” Levi casually said.
“Levi, stop! He’s going to be so confused,” Lily said through the link all werewolves shared. Lily directed it to Levi. Only the two of them heard.
“My hair isn’t blond. It’s black. It was always and always will be black.” Jason seemed so confused, Lily felt bad.
“Yes. Anyways, I just wanted to tell Levi that you were awake,” Lily tried to calm down the confused vampire.
Levi finally started to address Jason, with more than one word. “Jason you have to stay here until you fully recover.” Jason’s red eyes widened.
“I can’t stay here forever. As much time as I would love to spend away from the other vampires, I have a feeling, the reason I want to avoid them is the reason you want me to stay.” Jason looked sad at the thought.
“...Well, we are still going to force you to eat,” Lily said in a small voice.
“....You’re willingly letting me stay?” Jason seemed hesitant. Lily nodded her head hard. Jason looked at Levi who stared at him in return.
“Yes, but you’re going to come with and tell the vampires what’s going on. I’m going to try and explain something you can. I and Lily will go with you tonight.” Jason turned around and walked off.
Two werewolves surrounding one vampire might seem a little evil. Jason didn’t think Levi cared. After Levi left earlier, Jason and Lily got to know each other. They took turns learning all about each other. Jason loved Lily’s personality almost instantly. Lily expressed how much she wanted a friend who was a vampire, she said it was to make a peace between the two groups.
Here they walked. Levi had led them out of werewolf territory and into vampire territory. Jason tried to talk to them, Lily was happy to see where the vampires lived, so she was happy and bubbly, talking a lot. Levi wouldn’t talk to either of them at all, it looked like he was thinking so Jason didn’t bother him. Lily and Jason chatted until they got closer. The landscape went from full of animals and trees too, dead trees and few animals.
“Are we almost there?” Lily asked, fear creeping into her voice. Jason patted her on the back in a reassuring way. Jason ignored the way Levi was studying them both. In front of them was a tall manor house that was made of black stone. Overall the windows were boards - to help keep the sunlight out. Jason never liked the house, he felt suffocated in the huge size. He made a barely audible sound in the back of his throat. He didn’t want to be here. Jason didn’t notice the concerned look Lily gave him.
“Here we are.” Jason walked up to the door and knocked.
“Why doesn’t he just go in?” Lily didn’t bother to direct it, they were too far from the others for them to hear.
“I don’t know. Did you see the way he looked at the place in disgust?” Levi always made good points. He observed people.
A moment later the door opened. Lily could see a little bit of almost black hair. “Yes?” Lily didn’t know who it was but Jason did.
“Hugo. I need to grab something, and talk to you guys,” Jason said. Levi and Lily had walked up the steps and were standing next to Jason. Within an instant, others appeared. In a flash of dark red, Rose was in front of them. She saw Jason standing there and tackled him in a hug. Sara was there too, she even had a light smile on her face. They were all happy to see Jason.
“Your back!” Rose exclaimed in excitement. She was giggling and bouncing up and down.
Sara was now frowning, looking at Jason. “Are you okay? Why’s your hair lighter? What do you want?”
“I came to get my book and tell you I’m staying with the werewolves for a few weeks.” Before anyone could react he slipped through the door and ran to get something.
“Umm, hi,” Lily awkwardly waved at them.
Rose, the usual nice one, stared Lily down. “Do you like Jason?”
“What? No, I mean I want to be friends!” Lily had no idea why Rose asked that. Rose glared at Lily, her red eyes shining fiercely.
“I don’t believe you,” Rose stared. Levi sighed in his head, what was this all about? Just then Jason slipped past the door carrying a worn book with him. Rose looked at him and her scowl softened a little. “That was slow, even for vampire speed.”
Jason hooked his arms with Levi and Lily. “We’ll be going, bye.” And with that, they were walking away.
Once out of earshot, Jason released his arms from the two werewolves. They were walking back through the big forest in silence. Lily saw the book Jason was holding, and decided to ask, “So, Jason, what’s that book?”
He looked down at the book in his hand. “It’s for drawing in,” He said.
“Ohhh, can I see?” Lily knew she shouldn’t probably be mean, but she was curious.
“Sure.” He handed the book over to Lily who looked over every little detail before flipping to the first page.
“Do you run out of pages?” Lily was examining every detail of every page, slowly.
“No, it’s enchanted. I ran out of paper within the first few years. I just kept gaining pages though,” Jason explained.
“Oh, what do you draw? Do you have a specific inspiration?” Lily asked, still examining the pages.
“No, I draw whatever see,” he said hesitantly.
After a little bit of walking silence, Lily asked a question she expected Jason to not even answer. “Do you have a crush, Jason? We imprint on other werewolves, but, I didn’t think you would know what that means.”
“...Yeah, I like someone. I drew pictures of them in the book. But I didn’t specify who it was. Also, no, I have no idea what ‘imprint’ means,” he said.
Lily was now grinning, determined. She would find out who Jason liked.
“Are you okay with Lily looking through your entire book?” Levi asked Jason.
“Yeah, it’s fine. Rose looked through everything already. She then tried to hide it from me so she could look through the rest of the pages.” Jason didn’t seem at all bothered by the fact that someone had looked through his stuff.
“...You know she likes you, right?” Lily asked, not taking her head out of the book.
“She doesn’t like me,” Jason stated firmly.
“Yes she does,” Levi said.
“No, she doesn’t. She may have a crush on me, but it’s not what she thinks it is.”
“Huh, maybe,” Lily said. In the book, there were drawings of all the werewolves, in their human and wolf forms. Each drawing was labeled with who’s name it was too. “Did Rose get our names from your book?” Lily asked.
“I assume so. After she read through the book, she started addressing you all by your names,” Jason informed them.
They walked up to the cave mouth and walked in. Lily was still reading the book but guided Jason through the long tunnels. Levi split off from them and went to go do something. Lily guided Jason to the house. She sat him down on the bed he slept on.
“Here. You need to drink more blood,” she handed him the cup, fancy.
“Thank you. I don’t think I thanked you properly. Thank you for the blood, for feeding me, and for even wanting to be my friend,” Jason said, looking a shocked Lily in the eyes the entire time.
“Of course! I try and help everyone,” Lily stated with a firm voice.
