Davian's POV
It’s been two weeks since our mating. Saige has been stuck to my side since that day.
If I have pack work to tend to Saige is sure to follow. When Saige is not with me he's having lessons with Cassidy.
His education among other things were mandatory for him. I wanted him to have the care and education he was denied for so long, and he was a quick learner. It made me proud!
When he wasn't with Cassidy he was at the orphanage with the pups.
It was a few days until the full moon and the run of our pack.
I sat in my office at my desk, as Saige sat on the couch finishing up a quiz test that Cassidy had made for him.
I looked over at Saige as he put his pencil and paper down.
“How was the quiz, my angel?”
Saige looked up at me and smiled.
“It was okay. Not too bad.” Saige said lightly as he stood and walked over to me.
I pushed my chair away from my desk, giving Saige more access to my lap.
Since our mating Saige has been more comfortable being closer to me, and it gave me the greatest honor as a mate to have him so close.
“There’s something we need to talk about, my angel.” I whispered in Saige’s ear.
Saige looked up at me with confusion.
“Did I do something wrong?” Saige asked with a worrisome tone.
I kissed the top of Saige’s head.
“No my angel. I don’t think there is ever a thing you could do wrong.”
Saige sat up straight and looked at me.
“The full moon is coming and I’d like to talk to you about the run.” I told Saige as I ran my fingers through his hair.
“Da-Davian?” Saige asked shyly.
“Hmm?”
“I…” Saige hesitated and I knew.. I knew what he was about to say. I could feel it.
“I’ve never shifted before.” Saige admitted.
“I figured as much, my angel.” I tilted his head up with my finger under his chin.
“I’ll be there with you through it all. Never be afraid.”

The pack gathered in the open field near our pack house. They all stood around waiting for me to speak before the run.
I always gave the run-down on the specifics so that nobody was left behind and that nobody strayed close to the borders, and if they did they were never alone.
Though they’ve heard it a million times, I always went over it.
This time, however, things were going to be different.
For Saige, as well as, myself, and for my pack.
“Good evening family!” I shouted loud enough for all to hear, as I stood on the stump of a tree. It was better for all eyes to be focused on me.
“Tonight’s run is going to be a little different.” I started and the murmurs around the crowd started.
“This evening, not only will I be going over the rules, as you all well know. However, this evening is a special one, for your Luna is with us tonight!” I shouted and the pack went wild with cheers.
When I put my hand up to settle the crowd, the pack was waiting with excitement.
“Not only is our Luna here with us this evening, our Luna has graciously blessed us with his first shift!” The crowd cheered again.
For us a first shift is not only a blessing, it is highly sacred to us. I can’t speak for other packs but for us, it is a birth of our subgender and a gift. To share with others is a great honor to witness.
“Take your ready!” I shouted and all throughout the crowd took down on a bent knee.
I turned to Saige and held out a hand. Saige took Cassidy’s hand and walked towards me. Cassidy guided Saige to stand in front of me, his back facing my front.
I leaned down to whisper into Saige’s ear.
“My angel.” I started as I put my hands on Saige’s shoulders.
“I will not leave you through this. Remember, you have nothing to fear. This is a gift. You are blessing our pack, your pack, with your first shift. It’s natural and nothing to be afraid about or embarrassed about. I’m always here, close your eyes, and bond with Sunny. Feel him and let him through.”
I stood and waited for Saige.
Within just a few moments, I heard the first bone snap and Saige screamed out in pain.
“You’re doing great my angel! Keep going!” I encouraged.
Several minutes later I caught Saige before his body hit the floor.
Loud yips from the crowd showed encouragement from our pack to their Luna.
Saige’s screams continued, as his body endured through the pain and the shift, as I continued to coo my mate.
Fifteen minutes of Saige’s first shift was all it took before Sunny’s wolf was fully transformed.
There stood my goddess given, beautiful mate.
His silver fur glisend in the moonlight.
Sunny looked up at me as his eyes glowed their double colors.
“FAMILY! BLESS YOUR LUNA AND WELCOME HIM AS THE GIFT HE IS!” I shouted to my pack.
It started with a low howl from somewhere in the crowd, and grew as the others chimed in. The pack howled along with myself to embrace their Luna, and just as it had started they all began their shifting.
Myself being the last.
Rain, my wolf, the complete opposite in color of Sunny stood tall above all.
His eyes glowed bright red as he caught the sight of Sunny.
Rain tilted his head back and howled his loudest praise as he finally got to meet his mate.
Sunny- Rain linked with Saige’s wolf.
Sunny whined as he made his way over to Rain and rubbed himself against him.
Stay with me on this run, do not wander off. -Rain linked again.
Sunny nodded his head with his understanding.
Rain linked with the entire pack, that the run was about to start. All took their stance with readiness.
I started off with Sunny at my side, 30 seconds later Jacob, my beta, along with the rest of my pack followed behind.
Throughout the run Rain looked over to Sunny to make sure he was strong enough to endure the run, and for some reason, Sunny started to falter.
Rain slowed his pace, as did the pack, when Sunny howled out in pain and doubled over.
I shifted immediately and called for Jacob. The rest of the pack shifted as well.
Saige slowly and painfully shifted last.
Crying and holding his stomach.
“Alpha! I think our Luna is pregnant!” Jacob yelled in fear.
Gasps throughout the crowd were heard.
“Make way!” I shouted as I lifted Saige in my arms and ran as fast as my human legs could go.
****
Minutes seemed like hours, and an hour felt like eternity. As I waited for our pack doctor to go over every procedure possible.
I sat in a chair outside of the room, with Cassidy standing next to me rubbing my back.
The door to Saige’s room opened and I stood so fast I almost knocked Cassidy over.
“Alpha.” The doctor started and my heart felt as though it was going to explode.
“I’ve got good news and bad news. Let’s start off with the good. Your mate is stable. Asleep at the moment. Pregnant as well.”
“Give it to me straight doc, what’s the bad news.” I clenched my jaw so tight it hurt as I waited for the bad news to come.
“While shifting one of your mate’s embryos split, I cannot give you a guarantee that that embryo will survive. I’ll give you a few to take in the news before you can go in to be with your mate.”
“Wait, you said one of, what are you saying doc?” I said, confused as hell.
“Twins Alpha, your mate is carrying two.”
The doctor gave me a heavy tap on the shoulder, before he walked away.
“Brother!” Cassidy said with excitement in her voice. I turned to see her with wide eyes and lifted brows. “I’m going to be an auntie!” Cassidy screamed.
“Hopefully, we have to take every precaution necessary, so that my pups and my mate get through this.” I looked at Cassidy for a minute and then it hit me.
“Holy shit! I’m going to be a dad!”
