No one's POV
"Where are we going?" Surabashi asked for the fifth time. No response. Surabashi watched as Garien strode proudly in front of him. Wow. Even while wearing the robe, you can tell that he is powerful and muscular. He walks like he has authority, and he does., Surabashi thought. But one thing that Suabashi had failed to observe before was that Garien had a giant scar over his right eye. I wonder how he got it. It must have-, his thoughts were interrupted by Garien stopping abruptly in front of a large river. Surabashi slipped on a slick spot and slid into Garien's sturdy back. "Are you okay?" Surabashi nodded, a very red blush creeping down his neck. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you." With a swift nod and a light chuckle, Garien turned back toward the river. He clapped softly, and the river split. Shocked, Surabashi stepped onto the dry land and stumbled across it. "Are you drunk?" Garien asked his companion with more amusement written all over his features. "That is the second time today." He shook his head and continued to follow Garien until they had reached a small, brown hut.
"You may enter," Garien said. Surabashi went in first and was once again dumbfounded. He looked around and saw an endless number of books and tables with chairs. But the place that really caught his eye was a little corner that stood sectioned off by a railing, with an open, blank book, a pen, and some ink. He also saw paints of all different hues, and new, sparkling paintbrushes, begging to be used. He clapped his hands in delight, grinning widely from ear to ear, and made his way over.
As soon as he stepped into the corner, the corner started to glow, bright white and gold sparkles everywhere. His name appeared on the wall behind him in large gold letters "Uta, Surabashi: 1st author and illustrator". Once again, he grinned brightly and took the pen in his right hand. Spryly, Garien hopped over the railing and leaned over Surabashi. "Write down what I tell you, for not everything must be known to others. For a brief moment, I will allow you to see my memories so you may illustrate what you see and hear." Surabashi nodded earnestly and put the pen on the first page. He closed his eyes and inhaled.
What he saw amazed him. All around him was darkness, nothing other than the void. But then, all of a sudden, the darkness faded and was replaced with light. A majestic being clothed in light from head to toe emerged from the void. On his thigh was written the name Creator. Surabashi was shocked but not disturbed. His hand started to move as he recorded all his findings. He painted a wonderful picture of the transition from dark to light. He noticed that the stars had been individually hung by The Creator himself. Then he saw Him open His mouth as if He were speaking, and as the words left His mouth, Surabashi looked in amazement as the Earth, and other planets, were now rotating around the Sun. Stunned, Surabashi continued to watch and write as he experienced life from a new perspective.
After recording hundreds of years of colonization, from the beginning to the end, and wars, big and small, Garien spoke to Surabashi. "This is where I come in. This is also where your instructions play the most important part."
Surabashi shivered at the sudden breath on his ear. "What d-do you mean?" Garien responded, "You'll see."
He looked at the book and marveled at how many pages he had already used. But what perplexed him most was that no matter how many pages were written on or painted, the pages never ran out. What broke him out of his trance was the sudden, sharp, piercing howl that sent tingles up his spine. Surabashi looked around him, and behold, there was a small wolf pup who had black and red fur, blue eyes, and tiny wings flecked with gold. The puppy ran happily through the thick forest. Gracefully, he leaped over fallen trees and danced around large ponds. But out of nowhere, a Rogue came out of the shadows.
Red eyes, shaggy, tan fur, and sharp claws. The younger wolf backed up and waited for his elder to pass, but the Rogue came closer to him instead, licking his lips. It took a moment for either to move. But in the blink of an eye, the Rogue attempted to pounce on the cub. The ball of black and red fur stepped out of the way just in time to avoid the sharp teeth aimed for his throat. The Rouge was furious that his lunch had escaped, but he thought of something crafty. He walked up to the shivering cub and licked his face. He looked into the blue eyes that stared ahead in shock. At that moment, he swiped at the cub, hitting his face. The pup winced, then ran into the forest.
The Rouge was right on his tail as he tried everything in his power to catch his prey. Over a fallen trunk, under a stone passing, through a large puddle. Just a little more, and he will be mine, the Rouge thought. But just as the Rogue was rounding the next corner, he ran face-first into a tree. The animal was slightly dazed, but he shook himself and went on his way, still chasing his hidden prey as if nothing had happened. The tiny creature came out of the bush it was hiding in and shook himself. The pup felt a tingling sensation and realized that he had a small scar across his right eye. Well, that explains that., Surabashi thought. The cub put his paw to his face and realized that he had tracked a strange liquid everywhere. He licked his paw and recognized what the fluid was. Blood. Shaken and alone in the brush, he collapsed.
