Now it’s as if Jin’s dream was confirmed. There isn’t any way around, it, Thorne was really there, before something happened to Jin. Jin carefully puts the glasses back where he found them. Better not leave any signs showing he snooped around, as even though it doesn’t seem Thorne currently has any plans to harm him, if he discovers Jin remembered too much, or if Jin does anything else to change his mind, It might not end well.
Jin gets out of the room with all the nice items and his glasses. He feels like for today, he’s seen enough. There will be other chances to explore the house.
Jin goes to the little office space and decides to look for possibilities how to get away from the house, just in case. He looks up whether there are any busses or any other form of transport in the area. There’s nothing. Like Thorne also said, a few taxi services from nearby villages also don’t go to anywhere near the mansion.
Could he call Silver, or maybe that doctor in the worst case? Probably not. After all, they’re both Thorne’s friends. Maybe they even know what happened. Silver sure looked like he heard and knew a lot about him. Was he in on it too? That’s probably thinking too much.
After searching for a long while, Jin finds a taxi service from another small village nearby. It seems it is a pretty new taxi company, and when he looks through their site, it seems it wouldn’t be impossible to get one of their taxis to come here. Jin quickly notes the number and the name for that taxi service. Even though it would take long for it to get here, and it would be very expensive, but if something really happens, Jin will at least try to get away using this taxi.
Relieved to find there is an escape option from this mansion far away from civilization, Jin looks at the time. It’s already 8 PM. This is past time for dinner, and when Jin goes downstairs, as expected, Thorne is already back.
As Jin stands in the living room, not sure what to do to not make Thorne unhappy again, but also to not react weirdly now that he can’t fully trust Thorne, Thorne greets him.
‘Hey there. Did you have a good day? Come eat, dinner is ready.’
The way Thorne is behaving normally again after whatever came over him yesterday calms Jin a bit. Yeah, there shouldn’t be a problem for now, and he’ll be leaving in a few weeks either way.
Jin greets Thorne as well and follows him to the dining table to have dinner. They eat mostly in silence again. Jin finds Thorne looking at him quite a lot during dinner. Maybe everything is not okay yet, or Thorne discovered him looking around the house, but at least they’re eating together and Thorne’s extra cold attitude from the previous day seems to be gone.
That night, when Jin is about to go to sleep, Thorne is still awake as usual. The only difference is Jin can hear him walking around the house a lot. This makes Jin nervous, but in the end, he ends up falling asleep. Like every night, he dreams the same dream, and once again he sees Thorne in the dream.
The next morning when Jin wakes up, Thorne is still there. ‘Good morning.’ They eat breakfast as usual, and soon after that Thorne once again leaves the house.
Jin is relieved he’s in the house alone. Even though he tells himself everything is fine, even though he tries to think of positive explanations for everything, he still feels a bit uncomfortable around Thorne now. He feels conflicted as Thorne always treated him nicely, apart from always being a bit cold. Jin even feels he’s become quite attached to him and would even call him a friend. Still, he can’t ignore the rest of the situation.
Therefore, when Thorne leaves, Jin decides to look into that hatch he found last time. He walks to the room next to the kitchen, and carefully pushes the table away. Then, he carefully opens the hatch. He sees stairs, leading to an underground room. Jin wants to go down there, but it’s dark. He decides to use the flashlight on his phone. As soon as he walks down the stairs though, he discovers he can actually see way better in the dark than he expected. The stairs have led him to a small room with two doors. One of them is locked, and Jin can’t enter. The other one is unlocked.
Jin slowly opens the door. As he’s about to step into the room, something falls on the ground in front of him, making him jump back out. When he looks closer though, its just an empty bucket that fell from somewhere.
Jin steps into the room again and looks around. There isn’t much there apart from a table with a few chairs, and a few shelves along the walls. They are filled with many different wine bottles. Some of them are empty, a lot are still filled. All of them contain red wine. So it’s like a wine cellar. Ha. Jin laughs at himself. Right. What was he thinking he would find? A body or something?
Jin feels like he’s just getting paranoid at this point, so he just leaves the cellar, and decides not to look around the house anymore.
The next few days, Thorne also goes out, but less. On of the days during dinner, Thorne speaks up. ‘I’m sorry, the past few days I’ve had quite a lot of stuff to handle. You must have been bored. You’ve mentioned liking horse riding before, so to make it up to you a bit, I’d like you to go horse riding with me sometime during the weekend.’
