As the man gets halfway to his target, another larger figure lit only by the moonlight, appears behind him and grabs him by both shoulders. The startled man starts turning to face his assailant, but the strengthening grip on him grows tighter preventing him from moving. The two silhouetted figures move towards the panic-stricken woman revealing the second figure to be the very same person the man had been mocking moments before, a wide grin plastered across his face. His expression briefly grows into one of concern as he begins to speak.
"You guys left in a mighty big hurry. I'm sorry if you weren't enjoying yourselves."
Furious at Garik's trivial statements, the man starts to curse at him, which is cut off by the half-orc tightening his vice grip on his right shoulder.
Garik looks towards the woman and continues speaking. "You don't look so well; you should get back inside or maybe head home if you're not up to it."
The man struggles again and Garik squeezes tighter in response. "He's crushing my shoulder!" is all that runs through the pained man's mind.
Smiling back at the man, Garik says, "Don't worry, I'm sure she can get where she wants to go on her own. And I'll make sure YOU get what you need as well."
The woman carefully moves past the two men and hurriedly rushes out of the alley once she is away from them.
A few moments later, Garik releases his hold on his captive without saying a word. The disgruntled human whirls around shouting "What the hell-". The last words of his sentence are swallowed by a blue fist smashing into his face.
The injured man falls to the ground and gets his first good look at his attacker. A scarred, dark-haired half-orc standing at well over six feet tall looms over the now bleeding and terrified man, all semblance of his cheerful demeanor gone from his face. The man tries to crawl away from Garik, but is only able to let out a yelp of pain as he moves his broken arm. Garik then pulls him up to his feet, inches from his own face, and glares at the pathetic man with emerald-colored eyes filled with hatred.
He delivers one more punch to the man's face before tossing his unconscious body into a pile of garbage against the wall of the tavern. Closing his eyes and letting out a big sigh of satisfaction, Garik speaks for the first time since the two had been left alone.
"Well that's done," he says, with the cheerful expression immediately returning back to his face. With the muffled sounds to the band starting their next song coming through the wall, Garik joyfully marches back towards the tavern.
