Jin lies in bed, staring at the ceiling. Yeah, after what he discovered the day before, it’s not surprising Thorne is the one that made Jin end up in the state he woke up in, in a body bag. Silver must have been the one that put him in a body bag and left him behind there.
Jin is scared, and slightly angry that Thorne pretended nothing happened. Most of all though, he feels betrayed.
He was happy Thorne cared for him and was so nice to him. Every time they spent time together, Jin genuinely enjoyed it. But apparently it was all pretense. Thorne didn’t just treat him nice because he’s a good person. Thorne most likely kept him here as some sort of personal blood bag, and to keep an eye on him in case he remembers something. That time Jin went out with Silver’s friends, Thorne wasn’t concerned for him, or jealous because he had fun with someone else, but because someone else bit him and tried to suck his blood when Thorne chose him as his own blood supply. Hah. Jin laughs at himself. Right, from the start it was suspicious someone would be nice enough to let him stay here and care for him for free, without other motives.
Jin knows he just wanted to stay blissfully ignorant and naïve. The whole situation feels quite ridiculous. Jin doesn’t believe in any supernatural beings or powers, but as he thinks of it, the group of people he’s gotten involved with drinks human blood. Are they pretending to be vampires or something? Is that the reason Silver was uncomfortable during that vampire movie they watched because he is a vampire? As ridiculous as it sounds, after seeing what Jin has seen over the past days, he is considering whether it could be true after all. But in that case they’re different from all the portrayals of vampires in movies and books. They are tall and beautiful, but his skin isn’t all that pale, and Thorne does eat normal food as well. Actually, is that why he can only eat stuff like vegetables and fruits? Furthermore, Thorne is fine with daylight and the sun.
Jin decides not t think about it, as it won’t help him either way. In about two weeks he should be able to go back to America, maybe even earlier. Even though he’s not sure Thorne will let him go, he decides to continue pretending he doesn’t know anything. That should increase the chances of Thorne letting him go and not harming him in any way.
Even though that’s what Jin decides, the next day he doesn’t manage not to avoid Thorne’s eyes. He doesn’t manage to completely keep his cool and avoids Thorne more than usual. Thorne still smiles at him more than before, but he doesn’t stop Jin when he avoids him. At dinner, it looks as if Thorne is about to say something, but he doesn’t and just sighs. That’s the only day Thorne leaves the table first.
Feeling nervous though, Jin doesn’t notice something’s off. Instead, he still feels conflicted. He found out the truth just when Thorne started showing more emotions. A part of him wishes he never found out if it was going to be like this, but now that he found out, he’s mostly thinking of how to get out of here.
The next morning, an opportunity shows itself. When Jin wakes up, Thorne isn’t in the house. Surprisingly, there isn’t any note saying why he went out or when he’ll be back. Jin, who previously thought he’d just pretend not to know anything and keep it up for another week or so, suddenly decides he needs to take the opportunity. He quickly eats something, and then packs a few clothes into a backpack he finds in the house. Then he goes to Thorne’s room where he finds a stuffed wallet. He also takes that. Then Jin takes out the phone where he saved the number of the taxi service. He calls them, and after a short discussion, he discovers he doesn’t know how to describe his exact location. Luckily, that isn’t a problem. He downloads the app of the taxi service and shares his location.
After doing so and confirming a taxi will come, he grabs the backpack. He takes a last look around the house, feeling a little sad. Looking around the house, he also grabs his glasses.
Just before leaving, he decides to leave a short note to Thorne. Even after everything it feels wrong to just leave. The note just says:
Thanks.
-Jin-
He leaves it on the dining table, and goes outside, as he feels nervous waiting for the taxi inside.
He wanders around the garden a little, before leaving the property. He feels safer waiting a little bit away from the mansion. After a few minutes, he gets a message from the taxi app, saying the taxi will be dispatched in a few minutes, and will most likely arrive within an hour.
Adrenaline is rushing through Jin’s body. In just over an hour, he will be away from whatever this mansion and Thorne is. Then he can forget something like vampires might exist, and instead he can start worrying about what happened to his job in America.
