"Cool, I'm Lyla, nice to meet ya.'' Both of them shake hands with smiles slapped on their faces, not fake ones that you would give to anyone in general, but ones of hope and pure happiness.
After a little, Lyla goes over and sits at one of the chairs, waving her hand over to the other.
"But what if someone-"
"No one's gonna come until ten, just come over here." the barista mentally shrugs but goes over there anyway, sitting across from her in the other seat.
"So why did you beckon me to come over here?" The girl asks, she asks one of the first questions that would soon blossom into a new friendship.
"Well maybe I'd like to get to know you better."
"Alright. Well, the first thing I've noticed is that you aren't a Yorker and you seem like a southerner."
"Ha, that's new, but it's only been a few years since I've moved here from Ohio."
"How does a Northerner sound like a southerner?"
"Dunno, guess that's what you get from being in the country, and living in Canada for a while, and practicing accents ever since you were thirteen."
"Pfft- That's fascinating though."
"Thanks, and you seem to not be from here either."
"Lived in Canada all my life but I moved from China when I was younger."
"Interesting." A small silence endures, there wasn't much the girl could ask really but then something else came up.
"So why are you working here if you're going to law school?"
"Uh, money, duh."
"But wouldn't you be working for a firm?" Lyla questions.
"It isn't that easy, you know."
"Fine, fine, I won't talk about it." The girl shoots her hands up in defeat, a small chuckle from the other passes through her lips.
"Do you have a script for your show?"
"Nope, I never really have a script, I think of stories of my life and openly speak about them."
Jenna clasps her hands together, resting her chin atop of them. "Then tell me a story."
"Ight... " She takes a few seconds before thinking of a story. "When I was little, around maybe eleven or thirteen I came out to my parents as bisexual. They took it fairly well and I only found out after counting up how many people I've dated, up to now I think it's ten people, maybe twelve but who knows. This isn't really meant to be funny, it was just a story I'm telling." The other smiles from the story.
"Is there anything funny about how you came out though?"
"Well I said 'mom, dad, I'm coming out of the bicycle shop.' and then explained it to them. It was pretty funny to say in 2019 er- 2021 times." A mixture of snickers and chuckles come from the girl across from her, smiling at her own joke.
"I think you should tell the story of how we met, it wouldn't be entertaining but you would come out to the crowd in Ohio then."
"They probably already know I'm out, my first show was in Dayton, then it went to Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, and Cleveland."
"Wow, that's a lot of places."
"That was before I started traveling. Now I go to almost every single English speaking country there is, plus France because I know a dude who can translate and Germany since I know how to speak the language, or well intermediately speak it. Though it's nice to travel since you get to experience so much."
"Ha, I guess. I've never really been anywhere besides China, Canada, and here."
"When I go to Ohio, I could get you something, or when I go to England in three months. That is if you would like anything."
"Some photos would just be fine but you don't have to."
"Nope I will, we're friends now so I'd do anything."
"Anything?"
"Don't." Both of them laugh and spend the rest of the hour talking about each other and getting to know each other, finally getting each other's number and Lyla leaves.
