Jenna works for the rest of her shift until it's up, which was always at the worst times, it was lunch so she was able to sneak one of the donuts from the glass display. This new friend that she seems to have made is very entertaining in her opinion, an open book. If you want to ask her about anything she'll tell you. It was nice to know another bisexual honestly, even if she wasn't fully out of the closet and probably won't be to her family, it's nice to see how others are when someone is out being who they are and are accepted for that.
The day was warming up as she rolled up to the campus, before she went back to her apartment and changed out of her uniform for some more proper attire.
Her classes were fun in her mind, mostly what was fun was yelling at people, telling them they're wrong and that the facts are all there, but other times it could be complete hell, though that depends on the day. And today, today was going to be a great day.
The girl walks into her classes with a proud smile, arguing against anyone to head back to her apartment with another satisfying day of school along with learning some new things that would help her in the future.
But as she sits on her couch she ponders calling the coffee girl that she's now learned of her name to be Lyla. Her fingers hover over the practically empty contact with her name, number, and email. There were a few notes in her contact as well which were her Instagram and Ao3, whatever that is.
However she gives up, sighing and deciding to call Ava, it rings a few times before the third ring is picked up.
"What have you done now?"
"I... May have gotten that girl's number that you were bickering me about." There was a gasp on the other end, making Jenna's face flush even more from the embarrassment.
"Soo, have you texted her yet? What's her name?"
"Well one, I haven't texted her and two, her name is Lyla, she's a stand up comedian."
"Oo that seems neat, but why are you calling me? Just talk to her already."
"But I'm scared, what if she gave me-"
"She doesn't seem the type to do that, plus that name reminds me of something one of my friends talked about."
"Lyla?"
"Yep, she's super popular, has over ten million followers on Instagram."
"Jesus."
"And her next show is in-"
"Ohio, I know."
"Then you did talk to her."
"I- No I didn't! Well I did but that was just to know each other, she's really cute though... But I bet she's taken."
"Nope, just checked her insta, she's single as can be but she did put a post out about all the girls that were hitting up her DM's, guys too."
"Maybe she's aromantic then."
"No, it only says a "short bisexual"."
"Well she is pretty short."
"HA! Anyway, go talk to her. I need to clean around the house before my mom visits me for the fifteenth time today."
"Pfft- well okay, I'll talk to you later."
"Bye" The phone line disconnects and the silence sets in. The girl has no idea what to do so she just looks out the window, there was a light on that she could see a few floors down, a girl was there doing something but she had no idea what it was until she saw the mic, the girl must be streaming from the looks of it, a common profession in this day and age.
Finally with enough time of five minutes of staring out the window she decides to call Lyla, it rings for a few before the small click is heard, the girl is heard swearing a little before yelling.
"Ight y'all I needa take this, don't fucking kill me Courtney or I'll kill your girlfriend." A small click is heard and then the other's voice is calm, small heavy breaths come through the phone's speaker as Jenna sits on her couch, a pillow in front of her, absolutely terrified.
"Hello?"
"Ah Jenna, Howdy, how you doin'?"
"G-Good, you?"
"Besides telling my friends to go fuck themselves I'm pretty good." Then her voice has the injection of concern drowned into it. "Are you alright?"
"Yep, just a little nervous to talk to you."
"Eh that's alright, you should see me with my manager Mel, she's a handful when you don't speak gremlin." A giggle comes from the girl on the couch, immediately slamming the pillow up to her face to muffle it but Lyla overhears. "Your laugh's cute."
"Shut... please?"
"Ight, well is this all you... Give me a second real quick." She rumbles around with something while more yells are heard. "Victoria you bitch, I swear to god, I'm coming down to Florida to beat your ass!" The girl yells into her microphone.
"Yeah right you hoe." Only the slightest crackle comes through but it seems that the girl doesn't use headphones so Jenna could hear all of it.
"I'm spamming X for doubt."
"Bruh, just go talk to your lover, you seem to be happy from what your stream looks like." The girl brings the pillow to cover her face, burning with embarrassment and being flustered.
"Shit. I'm still streaming?"
"Yep."
"Ight, See ya later chat, as y'all know I'll be gone for the next week or two from streaming and support me on all the socials, Bye!" Another pause happens and Jenna suddenly feels very third wheel-ish, but then she notices the girl that was streaming before.
'Could that be her?'
"Alright, Jenna now that my stream is over-"
"Look out your window."
"Right now?"
"Uhm, right now." A silence and some shuffles along with what can only be determined as claws tapping across the floors.
"Amber, not right now, you can go play with Leo for right now."
"Was that your dog? IF you even have one."
"Yep, that was my golden retriever. I'm looking out the window and there's just another building... What am I looking for exactly?"
"Look up a few floors." The girl's head tips up and she sees the other smiling in shorts and a sweater.
"I like the view."
"Pfft- stop."
"Guess I can stalk you now."
"Bro, that's not cool."
"Eh, my streaming and writing room is where I am now so I won't be able to, I guess."
"Plus you'll be gone for a week or two as you said."
"That's only for streams, I'll still be here for another day since my flight is at five in the morning on Wednesday."
"Seems a bit odd to fly then."
"I have Cincinnati and Columbus then and I'll prolly bunk with Courtney and her girlfriend for the few days I'm there doing shows."
"It'll be lonely without you in the shop then."
"Aw you miss me already."
"Shut up, quit smirking."
"Don't think I will."
"Then I'm blocking you."
"Aw come on." Jenna giggles, covering her face with one of the oversized sleeves.
"Think I could pull that outfit off?"
"There is no way in hell you can pull this off."
"Yeah you're probably right though, you could probably pull anything I wear off."
"I- was that meant to be... sexual?"
"What?!-" A laugh intervenes with the rest of her sentence, from the dimly lit room that she's in Jenna can still see how her short hair slides back as she tips her head in the same direction, her dog giving a strange look at her as it sits in front of her. "I would never."
"Well then..."
"So how was school?"
"It was fine, it was like any other day." The girl sits down cross legged in front of the window, still looking at the other as she sits down too.
"A good day then?"
"Yep."
"Amber I swear, I'll leave you off with Lizzy if you don't calm down."
"Who are all these people you're talking about, it's making me a little-"
"Jealous?"
"As if."
"Well Courtney is my one and only B.L.F.F. which stands for Best Lesbian Friend Forever and she has a girl who's name is Emma and we play video games together and stream together, they still live in Ohio and in Hilliard so I'll be bunking with them since Columbus is only twenty minutes away. Victoria is my bunk-mate here in New York but she's always down in Florida since she works for SpaceX. Lizzy is my only straight friend I know of and she takes care of Amber for me. Then of course I have my two lovely gay boys of Evan and his boyfriend Ian and we are all queens when I go over there but that's about it. And Mel is my manager, they travel around with me all the time and we've been friends since what... sixth grade? And... I guess Lin is also one of my international friends who lives in Australia."
"Wow, you sure make a lot of friends."
"Or I just manage to keep them while you're twenty two."
"Funny, we're the same age."
"Name your birthday and sign then."
"Um, November twenty fourth and Sagittarius."
"Nice, mine's July ninth and Cancer."
"Ew don't give me cancer."
"I won't, but I do have God's permission to crab walk." More laughs from the other let the girl unloose a little, putting down the first impressions mask.
"Is the Crab Rave just a celebration for all your cancers?"
"Maybe, you don't know if we commissioned it or not."
"I doubt that."
The sun was going down now, the golden shade bouncing off the glass to blind the girls as they looked at one another.
"I'm gonna go to sleep now, only one day left and I barely have any time to put in a N/A for my book to my readers."
"You write?"
"As a hobby, yes."
"Is that what Ao3 is then?"
"Yep, I write on there a lot, you should check out some of them if you're bored. Well, I write on Wattpad too."
"Alright, will do, night."
"Night M'lady."
The phone clicks and her voice is lost, but its brought to an immediate panic as Ava starts calling her.
Lyla gives one last look at the girl from her window, standing up she heads out of the room, Amber following her as she goes to her room and sits at her desk.
'Damn I need to restock the fridge... Nah I can do that when I get back.'
Her finger glides over the many posts of fanart and everything that fans have made, it makes her smile that she allows others to smile at her stories and to relate with her before shutting off her phone, plugging it in and falling onto her bed to go to sleep.

The next day rolls exceptionally fast, today was now Tuesday, only the last full day that Lyla would be in the state, next she'll be on an hour flight to her homeland. Jenna was thinking of making something special for her. Even though they've only really known each other for two days, it seems like they've been old friends, which could be so. She remembers a girl with the same name, this was around when they were in grade eight, and with what the girl has said about living in Canada for this in her timeline she might as well be the same girl she fell in love with all that time ago.
They lost contact after the year that the girl moved back to America, it'd only been nine years they've been apart, she moved on from her feelings, but this girl... she just brings them all back. She seems so similar yet so unfamiliar to the other that they could maybe, just maybe be the same person. And she's known that the other only had a younger brother of Michael and no sisters and that she was from Ohio. Even their birthdays are the same! Well from what Jenna can remember... It's only been nine years, don't expect her to know everything.
Why does that girl remind her so much of the other? Her best friend and crush from grade eight, maybe she can ask her when she comes back.
Lyla on the other hand was packing for her trip until she looked at the photo on her nightstand. It was of her when she had longer hair that was almost down to her waist if not at her waist if it wasn't for her cursed curly hair and was only three years out of the closet, or the bicycle shop as she would joke with, and another girl. The other girl reminded her so much of Jenna, even sharing the same name. Along with everything they've shared and even when she said her birthday it matched exactly with the girl.
Maybe they were the same.
And if they were, she would still be in love with her.
